As much as I love Bobbery's back story, Vivian's story of finding her own path and straying from her abusive sisters is one we get to see play out through the game until she becomes Mario's partner, and everyone seems to overlook it.
It isn't. In the last few years, I've played RPG's that have handled aspects like story, characters, music, and exploration better. My top three are Chrono Trigger, Xenoblade Chronicles, and Persona 4, and while TTYD is fantastic, it doesn't come close to those three, in my opinion.

Well, SEGA is unpredictable, so at least their next game could possibly be good. We can't say the same thing about Nintendo, because when they fuck up, they use that same thing they fucked up on for the next game. So far, it seems to be happening to Color Splash.
I’m not a big rpg guy, but somehow Paper Mario TTYD is my fav game. All it takes for me is a bit more interactivity and a bit of creative tackling of old tropes, it seems.

Quite true you don't see a lot of heavy story or tragic tones in Mario games nowadays. Though I feel another tear jerking Mario game was Mario Galaxy, what with Rosalina's backstory and the hundreds of lumas sacrificing themselves to stop the giant black hole near the end of the game, and overall it was a very good-feel game with great epic orchestrated tunes. Really wish there was more depth like those certain special moments in today's Mario.
That's not to say I don't enjoy a more humourous and engaging story, I do! Love myself some funny writing and character interactions. More elements like that just need to blossom forth.

My favorite game of all time...I can't help but fan-gasm over the game's simple and yet hilarious concept. The battles, the story, the items, the lands...EVERYTHING seems to just mesh so beautifully it hurts. Even the humor...oh god, I loved it. BTW...I quite literally never understood the joke behind the X-Nauts name until I actually sneezed...okay, on my part, that was even more funny than I imagined.
I only have one problem with TTYD: how completely overrated it is compared to the first one. Like holy crap, the first one NEVER gets any love nowadays. It's always "TTYD this" and "TTYD that" nothing is ever said about the first one. If I didn't know any better, TTYD is the only decent Paper Mario game out there. When people want another true Paper Mario RPG, they say "TTYD2", whenever people talk about characters, it's always from TTYD. Hell I've seen people give TTYD credit to things that the first game did, well, first. Like, c'mon guys, I know TTYD is generally considered the better game, but at least give credit to the game that spawned it.

It's the same problem as the Smash Bros series. Melee was superior to the original in every way, so the original gets no credit for anything, ever.
Magical Mushroom Well, you are really underestimating how much credit the first Paper Mario game actually gets, considering how often I see how much people want the next PM to be like the "first two", implying the first PM is one of those "first two" In terms of Smash Bros, however, that is because there is hardly any reason to come back to the original at all other than maybe historical curiosity. There's one single player mode that's an unrandomized Classic mode, so few characters in comparison, and there's not much of a balance between them.

In Sticker Star there were hearts scattered around the world in hidden locations or places that required thing stickers to access.When you grab one it increases your health and attack power.(Yes I have played Sticker Star)
I've played pretty much every Mario RPG at some point or other and I gotta say, there's a certain feeling I get from PMTTYD that no other game in existence gives me. I love it!
I played this for the first time very recently, and the game is incredible except for the game's baffling obsession with pointless backtracking. It's like they felt the game they created was too good for the world to handle, so they had to make it worse before they could release it
You know what I wanna see? A Paper Mario and Mario and Luigi fusion game. Not a crossover, a fusion. Something along the lines of "Paper Mario and Luigi," with the battle mechanics of the M&L franchise mixed with the incredible and unique settings and characters from the (old) Paper Mario games.
The Power Guard command was definitely my favorite part of the battle system, it was so much fun being able to use it against bosses to beat them pretty easily.
Im so happy you made this video. I had this game when i was like 12 but our house had gotten broken into and the gamecube and the game was stolen along with a few other things.
The best thing of this game is the final boss, because normally in mario games bowser is there, but here we found something completely different and unexpected.
Honestly, no XP's better than having to grind for several, painful hours just to move up a level. The combat's clever, using certain stickers with certain enemies is one of it's best features, other than it's powerful bosses, requiring skill, things, and an overall knowledge of the game.
I really couldn't care less about this dude's stale opinion *_*koffbandwagoningkoff*_* of Sticker Star. I, for one, actually decided to stick with it right through to the very end, and you know what? I actually grew to like it for what it was. Ryan S. No, not really. The original might not have been quite as good as TTYD, but it still deserves credit for laying a foundation for everything TTYD did.
It's the same problem as the Smash Bros series. Melee was superior to the original in every way, so the original gets no credit for anything, ever.
Magical Mushroom Well, you are really underestimating how much credit the first Paper Mario game actually gets, considering how often I see how much people want the next PM to be like the "first two", implying the first PM is one of those "first two"
In terms of Smash Bros, however, that is because there is hardly any reason to come back to the original at all other than maybe historical curiosity. There's one single player mode that's an unrandomized Classic mode, so few characters in comparison, and there's not much of a balance between them.

In Sticker Star there were hearts scattered around the world in hidden locations or places that required thing stickers to access.When you grab one it increases your health and attack power.(Yes I have played Sticker Star)
Play the game only leveling up your badge point and the game becomes WAAAAY TOO EASY.
I've played pretty much every Mario RPG at some point or other and I gotta say, there's a certain feeling I get from PMTTYD that no other game in existence gives me. I love it!

I played this for the first time very recently, and the game is incredible except for the game's baffling obsession with pointless backtracking. It's like they felt the game they created was too good for the world to handle, so they had to make it worse before they could release it
You know what I wanna see? A Paper Mario and Mario and Luigi fusion game.
Not a crossover, a fusion. Something along the lines of "Paper Mario and Luigi," with the battle mechanics of the M&L franchise mixed with the incredible and unique settings and characters from the (old) Paper Mario games.
The Power Guard command was definitely my favorite part of the battle system, it was so much fun being able to use it against bosses to beat them pretty easily.

Im so happy you made this video. I had this game when i was like 12 but our house had gotten broken into and the gamecube and the game was stolen along with a few other things.
The best thing of this game is the final boss, because normally in mario games bowser is there, but here we found something completely different and unexpected.

Unpopular opinion: Sticker star was okay
Honestly, no XP's better than having to grind for several, painful hours just to move up a level. The combat's clever, using certain stickers with certain enemies is one of it's best features, other than it's powerful bosses, requiring skill, things, and an overall knowledge of the game.
It is okay, and so is color splash. People are blinded by nostalgia from the 'underrated' TTYD.
TTYD isn't underated but not overrated. It gets all the respect it deserves
