I was lucky enough to visit their factory when I was in New Zealand. It quickly became evident how passionate they are about nutrition and not adding in 'stabiliser this' and 'filler that' Mass respect for Radix!! :)

So cool. Yeah they are cutting edge of healthy nutrition that’s for sure. Would love to check out the factory one day.

Great review kate, I highly rate Radix as i find other brands too sweet for my liking. I just add some home made jerky to the mix and that works a treat.

OMG this is perfect I’ll have to give it a try. Cheers

I love how your friend called it dinner muesli haha!
I agree, they’re perfect for getting the calories you need on a hike.. but having those same textures multiple days in a row can be a little rough! It is worth it in the end must admit!

Haha totally it’s a love hate thing. I found they work well when you mix them with slop meals then the next next night dinner muesli is delicious. Haha.

Great video. As a coeliac I usually dry my own food, however in New Zealand used Radix for 8 nights. Like the Indian curry and Pesto (400cal) Found they were better when I added a small serve of rice.
For me, all the breakfasts were too sweet for my palate.

Oh so good to hear. Yeah I much prefer the protein and main meals. Happy hiking.

Excellent review. I do also wish they did a couple of meat options but I have found that I mostly don't miss the meat content with Radix, especially since some other brands use soy extender for their meat which gives it a foam-like quality. For meals with meat I tend to go for Campers Pantry as they achieve good textured meat.
Something that was pointed out to me is that the 800s have a much higher fat content than the 400s and are not just 400 x 2. They are noticeably fattier tasting, though with a curry or pesto that is perfectly acceptable given both dishes are usually quite high in fat anyway.
To me the breakfasts have been the biggest revelation as I didn't believe a no-cook breakfast solution that ticked all my boxes existed. Having the choice of 400s for the easier days and 800s for those long and strenuous ones is also a major reason it is now my go-to breakfast on the trail.

Oh wow thanks mate. Some great info. I’d never noticed the fat in the 800s. And YES I hate the meat in some brands. The sponge kills me. I LOVE campers pantry. They are my next vid. Love their passion.

I do like the Radix range of meals, as I can often find they don't include the ingredients that I either have an allergy or sensitivity to.
I especially like their breakfasts, and I loved the Grass fed lamb with Rosemary, perhaps that one is not available any more??
    Cheers

How good was the grass fed lamb. Yeah it’s so good hey they really cover the allergen market. Love tue gluten free. Happy hiking mate

Good honest review Kate and a treat to get a few videos in quick succession.
I bought some Radix on your recommendation for my last walk, but didn't end up taking it as it felt OTT for an overnighter. Had bratwurst and sauerkraut hot dogs instead! Oh well, the Radix will keep. And as you say their weight efficiency and complete nutrition would be ideal for longer, harder trips.

Haha so good mate. Yeah it’s so good on overnight hikes to live it up hey. Sounds delicious. Hopefully have 3 more food vids out soonish. I’m doing ones on my fav foods. Like campers pantry, real meals and on track meals.

Heard about Radix from you years ago and got one for an overnight hike. Was a brilliant meal and would definitely stick with them on future hikes!

Yes, but the carrots... I can taste the carrots in every meal (thankfully not the brekkies) and i was horrified but not surprised to see where they sit on the ingredients list - i hate carrots 🤮

@@KateGrarock I've been busy dehydrating my own meals without carrots, except I've included your dahl (no carrots), as well as your spaghetti bolognese (with carrots, but chopped up very small, and not a main ingredient! 😄)
