Weird how that changed from the original idea that Asami was going to be a "bad" character, and then somehow by the end is the 2nd most talked about character of show. No ploys here at all...
The best way one can describe LoK:
If Last Airbender was about a person learning to be the Avatar, Korra is about the Avatar learning to be a person!
Her story generally felt a lot more personal and about her struggles whereas the previous one was more a group of friends saving the world

It's a shame Nickelodeon wouldn't let them actually kiss, (outside of a sequel comic,) but Korrasami was still groundbreaking. We didn't have She-Ra, Owl House, gay marriage wasn't even legalized in every state yet. This was a huge moment for the LGBTQ community and for the history of animation.
From what I remember, it wasn't even a matter of what Nickelodeon would allow. The the showrunners didn't bother telling anyone at Nick what they were up to until it was too late to stop them, but they kept it fairly tame to avoid getting into too much trouble about it. I remember one of the Nick exec's saying afterwards that they would have let the show tackle it more directly if they knew it was going happen, but it's also easy to say something like that after the fact so who knows what they really wouldn't have done if they were told.

You know what's absolutely infuriating? Nickelodeon has a
"Korra and Asami moments" video on their UA-cam channel. They wouldn't let it happen when the show was airing but now that it's cool they're like "we were cool the whole time guys we swear"... Like C'mon, They robbed us of the kiss, but now they think they can profit off of Korrasami like it was their idea the whole time?

That's like four to two warcrimes to good rule for Kuvira and like 8 to 2 for the Fire Nation. Adding one cause they did it for 100 years. She did it for at most four.

He certainly tried to he just only managed to burn like 10 square miles of apparently empty countryside and never got to his intended targets.
I don't care what anybody says, Korra is one of the most unique and incredible animated series ever created. Thank you for watching it and sharing your reactions, and thank you especially for keeping such open minds about it the whole way through. Vaatu said it himself, "it was I who broke through the divide into the material realm." He was using purple spirit energy.
There was NOTHING before this finale. The mere idea of having one of the main characters not being straight - in a cartoon aimed at kids, even! - was unthinkable. It was big when it happened. This opened the gates for everything after, like the Owl house.
They realized with the show over that this would be their only chance.

People can think what they want about Korra but the animation and choreography was on another level this show. It was just so good. If the writers were treated better Korra in general would be even better than it is now. And still think it’s one of the greatest shows I have watched
Thankfully they’re working on animated movies for Last Airbender, Legend Of Korra, and the avatar after Korra. It’s being worked on by the co creators of both series, and folks that worked on the both series as well. They even created Avatar Studio so that they could work on the projects.
So glad you got here, but so sad it's over 😔

So yes Korra and assami are getting together. They weren’t together at the beginning of the season. They writers just showed how they were getting closer together as people, friends and something more. They were hinting how close they were getting when korra would mainly write to assami when she was recovering from the poison. Because she thought assami was the main person who would understand her. The last moment of episode 13 is to show they are leading to them being together. The writers were just ver subtle about it. Which a lot of shows have been very subtle about relationships like that like invincible and young justice
They were subtle on it because it was a children's show on nickelodeon. If it was on Netflix or anything else, it probably wouldn't be as subtle. We probably would have gotten a kiss or something.

And so the Legend of Korra ends. What a ride.
Regardless of any stances you have on the show and the character, you have to commend that Korra did well with what they had given her. Whatever Nickelodeon or the writers did to result in the show’s shortcomings, it was still fun. And I cannot implore this enough, but she is not a bad avatar. If anything, I always see her as someone close to Aang’s level of character.
Instead of viewing Nick screwing up as a mark against the show. I see it as something to praise the show itself, the fact that it turned out as good as it did despite Nick's bs. As far as Korra's character arc and development goes, I've the hot take that it actually surpasses Aang's. To me, she's always been a more compelling and interesting character than Aang, and like the title implies, this was very much a more personal story
the mech is platinum because they made it out of the city protection of zaufu, which is sooo insane to me and i love it even tho they didnt specifically mentioned it

4:01 Ozai literally tried wiping out the whole Earth Kingdom with the comet, Sozin wiped out the Air Nomads and during Azulons reign the southern water tribe was basically purged of the waterbenders so I’d say Kuvira is probably like top 5 but they easily beat her ass
Like others have pointed out, Korra and Asami are officially a couple at the end. The creators wanted to show them getting together by the end, but it was still at a time where you rarely ever saw any LGBT+ in main stream media. They fought hard and eventually Nickelodeon allowed them to have hand holding. They snuck in some flirtation thru out the season, but the end scene where they held hands and looked into each others eyes was the big moment. It actually is recognized as one of the first LGBT+ repesentation of a main character couple in main stream media. Yeah its small and they could not give it any more, but it was a first step in a lot of change and growth.
The last scene is a reflection of the last scene of Avatar with Aang and Katara. Getting together after everything.
I mean ozai was litterally trying to burn the world at the end of ATLA, not only a city.
One particular thing that sadly has been lost to time for the better, the ending was this shocking reveal of Korra AND Asami being a thing, but them holding hands that way, was as far as they went for the sake of being that last second surprise.
Sadly, but for the better, we've been getting better since as many theorize, Korra did the first step so Steven Universe and later on Amphibia and Owl House could walk and run. So it's not like it's an off ending, we're just now used to better. But yeah, i feel by the 2020's, this ending has lost alot of its impact for good reasons.

Some of the same people. Dragon Prince is Aaron Ehasz's baby. He was the lead writer on ATLA, but wasn't involved in Korra.

The beam coming out of the Spirit energy canon and the beam that Vaatu shoots out have the same color and sound effect. Meaning the Spirit energy canon fires a dark spirit energy beam.
I love Korra, both the show and character so much. They both hold such a huge part in my heart.

And thus we close the book, end the story and now know of The Legend of Korra!
And what a legend it was! Truly a great send off for the hero and the potential opening for the next adventure!
But what happens next,

Ozai was worse than Kuvira. He tried to wipe out an entire race and essentially did wipe out an entire race. Kuvira was a villain but she would never do anything like this. 🤣
Heres a quick list of villains who have done worse things than Kuvira
1. Sozin committed Genocide against all the Air Nomads
2. Ozai tried to burn an entire continent to ash because Azula half seriously suggested it
3. Admiral Zhao killed the Moon and by extension nearly destroyed the entire world.
4. Vaatu nearly destroyed the world 10,000 years ago
5. Unalaq fused with Vaatu and nearly destroyed the world.
Kuvira was really bad but she hadn't committed genocide or attempted omnicide like many of the other villains.
There is another series in the works with a earth bending avatar so this is not the end thank goodness
Sad they wouldn’t let Korra and Asami kiss and really confirm they’re together at the end (but that’s Nickelodeons fault, not the writers). They do kiss and show they are a couple in the comics though, I’m very glad they’re canonically together. Also fun fact, Korra isn’t the first LGBT avatar, Kyoshi is canonically bisexual and had a girlfriend in her lifetime

Honestly Korra is my favorite avatar I relate to her so much to be honest.
Bolin and the Beifongs pushing the buildings and Makos Sacrifice are my favorite 2 scenes in the series. For Korra. The absolute strain you see in Bolins face pushing that building over is something we only ever saw once with King Boomi toppling the Ozai statues. Its actually cool to see a physical strain the earthbenders go through. Especially enough to make him "scream" like that.
Also ill probably sound horrible but i do wish they killed off Mako there. Haroshi being the only death outside of the guards in the outpost she blew up in the prior episode just doesnt show the insane threat Kovira and her Mech were. Like this battle was so insane Nobody from the original series would have won this fight......except maybe Kiyoshi.

Yah korra and asami are together and were supposed to actually have a kiss at the end but because of Nickelodeon they weren't allowed to show that in the show itself so they have it in the comics instead
It was due to the Standards and Practices document at Viacom at the time, so for once it wasn't technically Nickelodeon's fault lol

I mean, he did try to burn an entire NATION to the ground, and Sozin murdered all but 1 Airbender, so there's that.
When Korrasami happened I literally could not think straight for about 2 weeks and started churning out fanfics, continuing their story (which they officially do, anyway, in comics, like they did the original series). For my 'fanon' I had written hundreds and thousands of words worth of shenanigans. A bit generic in story-telling, and without any drama. But, I just wanted to write some halcyon days for them. One of my first fanfics is actually set and so titled "15 Years Later".
Since it wasn't clear how much time had passed between the battle and the wedding, I wrote it so the wedding happened just a DAY after, because I thought that's totally something Varric could pull off, throw a huge party and relaxation for people, when the dust barely settled. The fandom wikia page speculates that weeks and months have passed since the wedding, but that's just ridiculous. And it's not even things like Mako's arm still being in a sling that simply disprove that. I just thought "What? So everybody, most of all Korra and Asami just sat around and went on for WEEKS and MONTHS, before they talked about things." That was just simply ridiculous.

Me: Well... He was burning down forests in a literally line at the end of the series, apparently while on the way to conquer the earth kingdom. If he hadn't been stopped and kept going, the earth kingdom would have probably turned into scorched earth kingdom if you get my drift.
Basically war crimes. 🤣
I think the reason the show ended here and not in some other place (besides the obvious "no more seasons was ordered") is because this is a perfect ending for Korra's arc. She started this show full of good intentions and righteous desires, but had no idea how to take other's perspectives into account. And she ended this show with saving the world from a horrible dictator by literally understanding where said dictator was coming from. 'cause let's face it, if Kuvira didn't give up, her huge army would continue to spread chaos and ruin. This makes this particular finale a perfect ending for the show. Also, it's crazy how Mako dated both Korra and Asami, but in the end it is Korra and Asami who ended up together. I mean, it was kinda obvious they would, considering their closeness during Korra's recovery betweeb s3 and s4.

I just want to take this opportunity to say that this particular finale out of all the tv shows I've watched changed my brain chemistry. You have no idea how much impact at the time it had on teenage me to see Korra and Asami in those final moments. It made me feel so happy but it also made me cry at that age because I was confused and scared. Queer representation is more common nowadays in children's animation, but back in 2014 LOK was considered to be bold to be doing that. Team Korrasami forever ❤❤
After that, in comics, Kuvira was rehabilitated and return to her family.
Don't be sad because it's over, be happy that happened... or something like that.

And this was where I was flaring around with my arms... jumping in my seat... crying (lol).... and angry AF at the ending because of Nickelodeon... Korrasami walked, so everyone else could run - literally groundbreaking achievement and it was a shame that Bryan & Michael couldn't realize it completely cause of the chokeholds Nickelodeon put on them. I remember seeing all the reactions to the ending and how the fudge Nick thought no one wanted that... I could bash the higher ups at Nickelodeon because of this.
They did this series so dirty and I would almost wish that we got to see what Bryan & Michael really wanted to do with this... They expected only one season because Nick didn't think anyone wanted a female avatar.... huge success, ok we want a season two now... because there is no way no one wants to see more of that... *chicken dance* huge success again... So they finally gave Bryan & Michael two more seasons and here they could properly plan a course of action.... only for Nick to steamroll it.
This literally made history and to see Nickelodeon do "appreciation" posts every year for Korra during Pride month. GTFO Nickelodeon. Let's not forget you tried to sabotage this at every turn but OH, now that it's ok! Let's celebrate Korra because we are the good guys now. I swear to all of the spirit world, I hate Nickelodeon lol...
I just want everyone to know Korra has a top from every nation...
I recall when Nickelodeon aired the episodes at random times then last few episodes could only be seen on thier website for a short time. They didn't treat the show right and gave the creators and overall team a hard time.
I also recall many dismissal of the show simply for not being Last Airbender and while I slightly enjoy Airbender more Korra is a amazing show and characters themselves. Now after some time where people can separate the shows for what they are many are loving both and I find myself enjoying watching reactions for this show very much.
The last scene with Korra and Asami I recall and was very happy to see but it took a comic to soild confirm and show the kiss.

Ok Ozai was planning some crazy stuff but never did anything. Sozin was the true villian in the family cause HE was the one who planned the whole thing, HE let Roku die at the volano, HE wiped out the air nation, HE started the war. Ozai actually didnt get to do anything villainess except assassinate his father (even though he didnt, he just planned it and his wife did everything else) and banished his wife and burned Zuko. But kuvira was a new level of crazy.
