Nice to see how deep retrofitting is tackled down under, it's clear that the basic principles stay the same the world around, regardless how the house was originally built. That is continuous insulation and air tightness. An ACH of 0.41 is quite good, it would even be for a new built passive house.
Every home and business should install a rain water collection and storage system along with solar panels and battery storage.. Even in areas where rain is infrequent it is crazy to waste the little rain that does fall and waste it. Being more energy and water independent will save money in the long run.
Nice House, I love your videos efficiency matrix, I have a question regarding passive house construction. How much does it cost to construct a double storey with passive house design techniques.
Shiva, I’m glad you enjoy our videos! We don’t really delve into the space of construction costs of passive house homes. But hopefully these passive house concepts and features start getting absorbed into mainstream construction projects.
If the eaves don't offer enough shade over the big lift & slide doors, why didn't you install semi transparent motorised external blinds? Surely the PHPP would have told you they were necessary to prevent excessive solar heat gain?
Even better just extend the eave depth when doing the renno. All they had to do was add 250-300mm tails to the rafters and voila. Low summer sun gets in and high summer sun doesn’t.

Great content!. Thank you so much for taking us through this home!
Dincel would have been a great option for the retaining wall

Blower door testing and air sealing add to home comfort and energy savings.
Oh to have the money for a holiday house - and then the money to basically rebuild it
Hi guys, looks great. What brand are the windows and doors?
Large over hangs are under appreciated for siding protection from the rain and sun.

Yep. Agree.

Nice house - They need solar panels!
I’m sure it’s on the cards. Matty!
