    New homes should come with solar panels, a rain water collection system and an electric vehicle charger in the garage.

    All new buildings should be designed with large roof overhangs. The large overhang provides beauty and protection from the sun, rain and wind.
    Protection of the doors, windows and siding make for a more durable and comfortable home.

    It is refreshing to hear U values mentioned, seems Australians have this fixation on the R values (which don't get me wrong R values are important too). It would be great to hear people talking U values of other make ups of the building fabric, not only just windows.

    It would be good to create a series on getting a house certified for passivhaus in Australia. What to do and who to get involved?

    Fantastic what can be achieved with proper planning, design and taking the time to plan, the executing the design into the build. No compromises. Well done!!

    All homes should be built to accommodate the elderly and disabled. This will be better for everyone.
    Large wide doorways and hallways make using a cane, walker or wheel chair much easier.
    Bathrooms or wet rooms need to have flat floors and no shower hump or pan. A flat floor allows for easy access and drains need to provided.
    Easy to use lever door and faucet handles are easier for the elderly to grip and open.
    Main floors should include a master bedroom, restroom, shower, laundry and wide walk in closet with few steps to enter.
    Homes should be designed with aging in place in mind.

    Imagine having a house so air tight when you open the front door the air pressure generated pushes another door open

    • @ecoevo
      @ecoevo  Місяць тому +2

      @@tedk-42 this home will have a erv, which will alleviate that back pressure, but if you isolated that, and had 2 normal doors unlatched, this would definitely happen in this home.

      The ventilation systems were sealed up for the airtightness test. In everyday operation, the air pressure will be dissipated through the ventilation systems. No cartoonistic slap by a door, PHEW 😅

      @@acchaladka Never mind my first question. I just looked it up, and the category is very wide.
      As far as voc’s go, it depends on the type of adhesives being used. I guess CLT is not a specific brand or type, but a general category, so it’ll have all types of glues. So, each has to researched individually.
      And thanks, I’ll check out that channel.
