      Ashihara Karate or Ashihara kaikan does have takwdowns in full contact karate system. Also Shinkyokushin kaikan had incorportated takedowns in competition.

      I've done a lot of martial arts, but wrestling will always be my favorite.

      for take down defense you should get the underhook in, otherwise experienced BJJ/wrestler can switch to single leg take down.

    • @seanng5452
      @seanng5452 3 роки тому +1

      Also for take down entry, you have to keep your head up and stick your head to their body as tight as possible to avoid guillotine choke counter. It is very bad to keep the head down for double leg take down.

    I like that you're willing to learn from other martial arts. That makes you a complete martial artist, and not just a Karate Sensei.

    Great to see some Wushu Taolu applications in Sanda! The fighting/sparring side of Wushu!

    The technique used to defend the takedown shown the double leg takedown is usually called sprawl. Its a good tool for us karateka to have in our arsenal.

      Don't you guys have takedowns and throws in Karate? I heard about bunkai or the very least Okinawan styles of Karate has a lot of takedowns already integrated into its style

    • @mrgsudo
      @mrgsudo 3 роки тому +6

      @@Projectdarksource There are tons of takedowns and throws and even arm locks and chokes in Karate but most of them was being even abandoned or is barely practiced. Even in Okinawan styles they are practiced more like a complement to the striking part and not an integral part of the style. There is a movement trying to bring back grappling to the core of Karate and to apply them to a more realistic situations, including MMA and self-defense.

    Sanda competition is actually quite similar to the ruleset of Karate Combat. It's a great sport.

    I am a Sanda beginner. You're doing awesome! Probably from all the experience with Karate. Takedowns and defenses seem easy but they are actually REALLY HARD.
    P.S. I wish I was able to kick like that!

    My mma wrestling coach actually a sanda practitioner :)) . No one practice wrestling or freestyle wrestling in southside of VN only judo or sanda and bjj just only became famous here for only 3 yr so they only teach it at big city like HaNoi, HaiPhong or Saigon.

    It was hard when I transitioned from Karate to Sanda especially the kicks. The kicks hould follow through. However, I have an easy time on take downs since I mainly use trips, throws or double leg take downs.

    I like the shoulder fundamental takedown. Off from the books of bassai dai kata bunkai. For ukemi, I prefer to tuck in my chin as I fall back so your back head won't hit the mat for practice.

    Interesting to see Sanshou's (Sanda) semi grappling and throwing component, to compliment its stand up striking techniques. In a way it reminds of Thailand's Muay Thai, which also has a small minor grappling and throwing component, in addition to its major up standing, striking component.
    One vast difference between Sanda and Muay Thai's defense against a grapple and a takedown component, is that in Muay Thai they would defend it tentatively, with a hiji oroshi uchi (descending elbow to the top of the cranium, or the opponent's spine. While in Sanshou (Chinese kickboxing), as demonstrated in here, they defend a grapple and take down attempt, with a sprawl to negate such action, by arching one's body over the adversary's back and shoulders. Nice to see that they also taught you both, break falls techniques, though I would advise to tuck your chin towards your chest, as you are doing the break fall backwards, on your palms' heels and then eventually laying flat with your back on the ground. Tucking your chin, towards your chest avoids a person, accidentally hitting their head on the ground, as they fall backwards with their back eventually. Looking forward to the third installment of this series Sensei Yusuke, Osu!🇲🇽🥋👍✌🤟🇦🇺
