WW84
The Falcon and the WinterSoldier
Plunderer[anime]
Kuroko no Basket[anime]
RRR
Zack Snyder's Justice League
Misfit of Demon King Academy
if anyone else knows, it's cool, let me know if you can
This and the next one were my favourites
@@Volition366 yeah, this episode won me over after a while
This was my favorite episode of the season
Dream
Death
Desire (twins)
Despair (twins)
Destruction (the prodigal)
Destiny
Delirium/Delight
The one thing John never understood was that he didn't just take away their lies, he took away their imagination. The ability to imagine a world better then the one their in is what keeps the world moving and keeps humanity alive. It's what pushes people to be better versions of themselves and want more out of life. Take away that and we're no better than animals willing to tear each other apart.
John may have seen their lies as selfish, but Dream appropriately explains that they lie in the pursuit of they're dreams. They lie in the hopes that they may conjure a better future instead of dwelling in the emptiness of the "truth".
Not only lies, he took their dreams, their motivations, inspirations, even their conscience away.
He only opened the misery of unhealed wounds and the negative side desires.
truly an S Tier episode
I was waiting for them to see this episode! John also.made their so called dreams come true but he also made their nightmares come true? John lacked any true purpose! Why was he so convinced that he needs to be the one that change the world! This is when power can corrupt any human being!!!
Thanks man its not like Morpheous told us this literally in the episode.
Funny how lupa said "turn everything into gotham." When in the comics the place that John dee escapes from is arkham asylum
yeah lol dude's brain is in tune
24 Diner is considered to be one of the most disturbing/terrifying comic book stories ever and this episode proves that.
Bro you comment like 4 times on all of their videos like god dayummm
Hell yeah it is, still remember the impact it gave me when I first read it
Where can I read it?
@@tommyching4538 You could buy the 1st collection of the Sandman 'Preludes and Nocturnes ' ,or buy the issue titled 24 hours. It's more horrific than this episode, but makes more sense.
@@RuggerJug Facts 😂
“I hit him with a mere grain of sand and it drove him mad.” 💀 i can imagine dream saying that to one of his siblings
😂😂😂
I love the fact that John spent all of his appearances in pajamas and slippers.. appropriate for battling the King of Dreams
The thing with John "taking away the lies" is what he considers the lies to be. When he asks Bette if she really thinks he's handsome, she says she was "trying to be nice". But because John believes people are fundamentally selfish, he forces her to tell a "selfish truth": that she wanted him to like her. Because he couldn't conceive people as being good, every time someone tried to be good he stripped that away as a lie.
Wow, that’s insane. Wasn’t thinking about it that deeply. I thought he was just taking away their lies but really he was transforming them into horribly selfish people to satisfy his vision of humanities morals. They are not all crooked underneath those lies, he simply brought out the worst in them for no reason.
@@maniacalmurderer4123 John tried to shape the world in his image, as a man who only knew hate and pettiness because that's how Ethel raised him. That's why I believe Dream began to learn mercy when he dealt with John, he could've destroyed him or given him the same fate he gave Alex Burgess, but he understood that John was merely playing the hand he was dealt.
I always thought John Dee's fight with Dream was meant to be anticlimactic so that it portrays how pointless it is for a mere human being, regardless of how powerful he may supposedly be, to think that he can somehow defeat one of the Endless in direct combat. It's comically stupid to even entertain the idea. It's like when Dr. Manhattan told Ozymandias in Watchmen that he was the world's smartest man but the world's smartest man posed the same threat to him as the world's smartest termite.
But it that would go completely against the whole point of the endless: they only exist because of humanity. That's why Dream despises Desire, because Desire thinks of humanity as something to toy regardless of how many would die or suffer just for it's pleasure. Death says the same thing: I was born the day the first living thing was born and I will only be here until the last one dies. It's a whole different situation than Dr. Manhattan, the humans have actual power over the endless, they just don't realize it
@@gabrieldossantos1116 they have power over them in the sense that they need each other not that they are equals
@@Matthew-uh9id Yeah, that's why I think this fight shouldnt be protrait as completely one sided. Otherwise it would look like the Endless have dominion over humanity which is not true. It's more like a symbiosis
@@gabrieldossantos1116 How was the fight completely one sided? John was winning before he decided to break the ruby.
@@Retrovorious I didn't think the fight was one sided, I was just answering the original comment that said this fight should be demonstrate how pointless it is to go against an Endless, which I disagree. I liked how the fight went in the comics and in the show
Fun fact: The ruby that John uses is called "The Dream Stone", you might have heard it somewhere. It is in Wonder Woman 2.
The dream stone has been different things in other media : sandman’s ruby, the wishing stone from ww84 and the crystal that imprisoned destiny in Justice League: Dark
WHAT WTF I NEVER KNEW THAT
A film series that shares an actor with this episode!
Just as Morpheus said “Their dreams kept them alive, but if you rob them of their dreams, if you take away their hope, then this is the truth of mankind” as he points out the harm John had caused. I do love the idea of a more honest world, but John Dee takes that to an unnecessary extreme. With untruths such as dreams, we can motivate ourselves to walk paths that take us to places in our lives that we never thought possible.
Goddamn Neil Gaiman keeps proving once again his is of the greatest writers of our time.
Also I really loved how he changed John Dee for the show because in the comic he is like I twisted and mutated fusion of Gollum and The Joker.
Episodes 5 and 6 are my favorites of the season and they’re both so tonally different from each other.
11 is excellent, too.
bro I love episode 6 so much, the dialogue and storytelling are beautiful!
Interestingly in the comics Dee is a full blown monster who actively engages in sadistically tormenting the diner patrons for his amusement. Here its more subtle but just as horrible, with him using the ruby to bring out the darkest and ugliest self-destructive sides of people in the pursuit of twisted morals
Also, the comics are much more of a cameo fest of DC than this is showing.
omg yes he was horrible in the comics completely enjoying people's suffering and he wanted to rule the world
I was really happy that they softened it for tv.
I really appreciate the change from comic to show.
In the comic it was more chaotic evil.
Here, it’s more of a credible story and more subtle punch.
Me too they kept just enough to still scare tf you
Can't wait for episode 6 reaction. It was my absolute favorite of the season.
Literally the best episode
same here peak fiction
Been waiting for their reaction to ep 6
GREATEST EPISODE
Also, heads up as a parent for episode 6
My favorite part was John going into the back for some ice cream after waiting hours for Bette to take his order 🤣🤣🤣
This episode was really well done. The tension throughout the whole thing was insane!
When we see destruction and random people dying in action movies, we don't feel anything. We only feel bad for the people at the diner because we know them and their stories. So I think showing the rest of the world would be less effective because it would feel like any other generic "apocalypse" scene. For me, it was much cooler to see what's happening at the diner and think "omg, imagine this happening EVERYWHERE".
Also having us see the world through the news in the TV actually feels more real than if we were to watch the world burn like in superhero movies, because in real life, right now, most bad news and devastating happenings around the globe are seen through social media and the news rather than us experiencing it personally.
(At least that’s what I got from this episode, the diner scene also made us connect more with these characters on a personal level than if they were just being killed one by one)
The way John Dee was portrayed on the show is way different than in the comics. He went by Doctor Destiny and was a major villain. Thing is they raised the level of creepiness by making him an ordinary old man instead of a super powered adversary.
"He gettin ready to choke on the burger?"
Ahh the irony of that statement is just 🤌
🙃🤭
Dream really said: “if you want to rob me you gotta do it in my hood”
Fun fact: Neil Gaiman says this issue of the comics is the only thing he's written that scares him
The show leaves things a lot more subtle than the comics. The whole "he's 21 thing" tries to make it a bit nicer, but if you think about it he was with his mom for a long time, and then leave when the "kid" left. He's been abusing her son for way longer than now.
In the comics it's actually even a bit worse. She thinks her son's off in life, and he tells her he actually found her son in jail a drug addict and being pimped out for cigarettes. And tells her that he paid to use him too. And again, heavily implied that he abused her son and kind of what led him into a messed up addict in jail being pimped to men.
Christ. Don't regret him being dead. Too bad she wasn't the one to shank him.
OH NOOOO THATS SO AWFUL OMG😭
bruhh...
This episode was really well done I normally don’t get anxious or tense in shows, but the whole episode had me on edge.
I love how Morpheus just shows John who the boss is. He’s one of the Endless, after all.
Phenomenal episode. One of the best episodes Ive ever seen in any media.
the arby's cut was hilarious. THANK YOU, EDITOR!
This episode really freaked me out, the way they did this episode was crazy.
Such a great episode and the next episode may even be better!
Morpheus was absorbed into the Ruby. What John hadn't realized is that he'd by absorbing him also restore all his power. The Gem holds a fraction of his Power. No matter where Morpheus is restored, even if it's inside John, he would be at full power. It's sorta like asking someone what weighs more 1 ton of feather or 1 ton of weights: it's the same thing. Absorbing all of Dream in the gem is no different than Dream hunting for the Gem to take possession of it.
these 3 cringing at everything that happens is one of life's joys.
22:34 -Damn he look comfy.
That man was just put to Bed by the literal Sandman, he is as comfy as he can get
This episode shows so much the psychological horrors that happen when anything is taken to an extreme. No lies, no dreams, no self control. Nothing that could be considered a lie by John in any sense.
John becomes equal parts sad and terrifying. You see how fucked in the head he is. Dream can see that John's mind isn't purely evil; it's broken and the Ruby is giving him power & making him more broken. It's like giving someone with an addictive personality drugs. They may start as a good person, but the more you give it to them the worse they'll become.
This was the most trippy episode of television I have ever watched, can't wait to read it in the comics
This is the absolute best episode in the show. I loved it. This was the reason I feel John should have been the main antagonist for the season.
David Thewlis also just did an amazing job as John.
The next episode is LITERALLY the best from the whole season.
17:40 Roshi got that AAAAAAAAH in stereo.
"Burger Time' has a new meaning now.
In the comics John was in Arkham asylum and the first time he used the ruby the old justice league of America stopped him I think it would have been interesting if they mentioned this in the tv series
Rights issues, like with Constantine.
@@mbpobletGaiman said they were trying to disconnect from the extended universe that's why there's about no more cameos than strictly necessary (they cut Etrigan off too, as well as Scott Free and Jon J'onzz but kept Hypolitta and Hector for example)
the tension and buildup in this episode was so good!! also y'all reactions and commentary are a blast
That arby’s cut got me ⚰️ 😂
15:30
i remember this episode, pissed me off when i first saw it, but after about 20 minutes, i found myself so immersed in it that i completely i was watching The Sandman
I remember back in my later school years one of the drama groups did a play version of this comic for everyone (with much of the adult aspects cut out) and i vividly remember it beat for beat and being fixated the entire time. Was so excited when they announced this show specifically for this comic being adapted.. They killed it. 10/10
"Seriously? Right in front of my salad?"
So glad you guys are liking this series, I hope it gets renewed.
17:40 You two had me rolling on the floor lmao.
this show is just so good and phenomenal! Seasons 4 to 6 are the most memorable to me im so excited to see your reaction to ep 6 it is a hauntingly beautiful, insightful episode. the sandman is definitely one of the most brilliant shows ive watched in a long time tbh! tom is gorgeous! ahahahaha
Morpheus powers/tools in the waking world affect actual reality, which is why his creation Corinthian (Nightmare) is doing the most to stay here rather than the dream world.
Destiny, Death, Dream, Destruction, Desire, Despair, and Delirium ( previous she was Delight) Ep 6 is my fav.
Only five have been mentioned so far; the other two are spoilers; they're supposed to remain a mystery until later.
@@mbpoblet No they are not spoiler . READ COMIC BOOKS OF THE SANDMAN
@@zuzauramek9850 _I have._
[SPOILERS BELOW]
One doesn't appear until _Season of Mists_ (probably next season); the other remains a mystery until _Song of Orpheus,_ and even then we don't know their name unless we speak Greek, if I recall correctly.
_Not that it matters,_ mind, since the only mention in this adaptation of other Endless besides the ones seen on screen was by the Corinthian in the first episode, and he only mentioned Dream, Death, Destiny, Desire, and Despair.
Given that no other Endless have been mentioned by name since then in the series (there was a mention of _"the prodigal,"_ but obviously they were never named, since their identity _is supposed_ to remain a mystery), any mention of any others, should they exist, _is_ a significant spoiler, and would still be even if they had been mentioned in the books, which many viewers, including the people we're trying to get _unspoiled_ reactions from in this very video, have not read.
The fact that, as mentioned, and as anyone who _has_ read the books _would definitely know,_ the identity of one Endless in particular is supposed to remain a mystery until _much later_ in the series, though, makes me question if _you_ have read the books, or just looked them up in a wiki.
@@mbpoblet NOT SPOILERS WHEN COMICS EXIST FOR 33 YEARS 🤣🤣🤣
This is probably the greatest bottle episode I’ve ever seen. The way the tension rises constantly is almost unbearable
the screaming in this video is hilarious 💀
I was waiting for you guys to see the absurdity of this episode
You guys cracked me up so hard with the kitchen scene 🤣
14:46 “right here on top of the salad” lmao 💀
If you know u know
This episode had me on the edge of my seat. Tension was real
“Yea eat that burger”😩
I was dying when they were all waiting for marsh and garry to fuck 💀💀
Can't wait for the next episode that reaction is gonna be sick
8:36 yes lupa, he sure did 😂
Was waiting for your guy’s reaction to this episode as without a doubt, BEST episode in the entire season. Even though The Sandman a.k.a. isn’t entirely present in this episode, the way the writers were able to make you invest in these new cast of characters within one setting while spicing up the tension was so nerve-racking but in a good way!
Cannot wait for ya'll to react to the next episode. It's sheer perfection!
Lupa and me on the same brain waves fr. When I watched the freaking orgy scene, in my mind I was just thinking....."sinister sex"
“Turnin everything into Gotham” lol in the comics, this story actually takes place in that area 😂 new subscriber here. You guys are dope, thanks for the laughs. Excited for all your content 😭
Just wait til next episode. One of the best I've ever seen
That dude ate those fries like it was a first cigarette after quitting
This is one of the episodes where the modern times changed it a bit. In the original, Bette wasn't interested in Donna, she just felt bad for those "poor girls living in Sin" and "in her Novel she had them both marry nice men already"
It was much more of a stigma against homosexuality - which reflects late 1980s/early 1990 sentiment
Yeah, but they all ended up having an orgy in the comics, so it ends up kind of similar
bro the kanye edit had me dying LMFAO 💀
If I was Mike Myers at that moment, I would have had to immediately walk off screen to somewhere that I couldn’t be heard laughing very loudly. The truth was said so bluntly.
Yasss I'm glad you are enjoying Sandman!! The next episode is amazing and will probably make you cry.
Watched it on your Patreon and now I'm watching it again on UA-cam! Great show!
Next episode and bonus special episode 11 are bangers.
Really great reaction! Can't wait for episode 6!
14:47 "in front of my salad ?!"
This episode was so eerie and very well done.
The vibe it gave is so creepy and weird.
yay, more sandman! thank you guys!!
Episode 6 is one of my favorite episodes of any show ever, so I hope you like it.
Lmaooo yooooooo that Kayne clip had me wheezing
Thing is though you can’t take any of the endless powers as they are the anthropomorphic personification of what they represent. Dream isn’t just a dream lord or ruler of dreams. He’s dreams itself and all the other endless are what they are. John was gonna hold an L either way
Great episode. I was like “get me outta this diner the whole time”
Fun fact: When Lucifer is describing himself. He is talking and description of what he is, his punishments, his crimes and his past sins: A serpent, A wolf, a pestilence of life, a nova of cremation, Anti - life: the beast of judgment at the end of time. At the end, Morpheus said hope, the presence which is god himself of DC Comics which he may not fear but he knows not to be on his bad side
John really thought he killed dream, that's both sad and hilarious 💀
yo, I love the fact that you are enyoing the series, hope you are doing great :3
I just love when comics go extra dark
In the comics, John D is in Arkham Asylum…so yes Gotham
The next episode is my all time favorite chapter in the comics and is one I'm sure they will enjoy greatly
that bush cut i'm hollering
NOT THE ARBY'S BRO WTF 😭 💀
This is one of the best episodes of any show I've ever seen. Episode 6 is on par, so enjoy!
I was expecting him to turn into a werewolf LOL
Episode 6 is even better. Episode 6 is probably the best episode of TV I've seen so far this year.
Now this is what the show business calls a bottle episode.
Roshi trying to eat in peace while the burger joke was flipping around
The craziness is a bit watered down from the comics where it's just straight up evil
One of my favourite bottle episodes
"Turned everything into Gotham?" In the comic, the asylum was Arkham.
This episode was so brutal, I loved it, but the next one is my favorite for sure.
Dude, those episodes of Spider-man, when he tries to deal with Sinister Sex were my favourite.
The sibling at the end is Desire
i was waiting for this reaction! episode was so fire!
God: "Ok I'm taking away everyone's ability to lie! From now on, everyone will have to be hon-"
(Clap clap clap clap)
"..What the.. are they..?!"
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Finally!!! New sandman reaction
Saludos desde México
Funny that you mention Gotham. He’s supposed to be in Arkham
I love that the Cook × Son thing has EVERYONE freak out... despite the fact we were told before this that the Son Came Back from COLLEGE.
I chuckled after "His 21" cause No duh.. Collage 🤣🤣🤣
Marsh is clearly taking advantage of him though
@@g.k.4710 of a 21y old college guy? ... that fucks Him? How is that Clear?
