"Stop comparing yourself" is in my mind the most important one, I find that in previous league I mentally defeated myself after watching streamers or videos of players who were progressed so much further than me, or accomplishing things better/faster than I could.
I kinda felt bad one league when I built a awesome wild strike glad I got to 93 or 94, then mathil came out with one a week later that was destroying content I couldn’t do (Uber atziri was my struggle at the time, he did Uber elder, shaper, etc.) it was a little demotivating but the currency I was getting made me feel better
It really is demoralising. I am trying to make a Juggernaut HoA build, but when I see how I would do just 200k dps compared to 2mil of other builds, it's hard not to feel like you're doing everything wrong.
In the endless ocean of "5 new league starters" or "Strongest builds for Path of Exile X.XX patch", this video is a true gem, that shows what all players should do at a new league start. Simple, informative, meaningful. Thank you Mat Lighty.
ya know what, these are great tips. not just for SSF but for trade alike. as soon as you stop treating the game like a giant "chaos per hour" calculator, you'll end up enjoying yourself. enjoying yourself will mean you'll actually play the game. playing the game is how you get currency, results, etc. playing SSF is the fastest way to break that trade mentality and it is the path to enlightenment for having fun with this game.

I start playing PoE near the end of Blight league I only played trade League but now with the Harvest crafting, I think it is great to start playing SSF and for someone who never played SSF before those were some really useful notes. Thanks, Lighty and good luck with the Uniques in Harvest!
Do it! Its lots of fun. You'll end up crafting with less fear of wasting currency. Doing things that you might not normally try. And hey, if you hate it just hit that fat migrate all button and go back to trade. Good luck!

There was a point during Delirium where it was *better* to ID and vendor rares (then sell the alts on the market) than to actually use those pieces in a chaos recipe. Sometimes you find a 450 pdps siege axe while vendoring shit and, suddenly, you become a lacerate god. Or that pair of boots is triple res, 25-30% movespeed, and has an open prefix. 2: Don't compare yourself I (mostly) stopped comparing myself to people once I started making my own builds (or modifying existing ones). Sometimes you blame issues you have on pieces of gear you *don't* have instead of thinking of how you could substitute X. Something missing here is "Learn to craft gear." The drawback is that you'll likely waste currency but you have to learn at some point. Back during betrayal when you could make 600 pdps jewelled foils with a handful of exalts, I ended up spending 20 ex because I kept fucking it up.
I started playing SSF last league and loved it even tho i never got to kill Uber Elder or A8 Sirius. Great video, motivation booster and another reason for me to go for it again this league.

Great video, though the last tip setting goals for myself actually works Against me personally for i will Tunnel vision/tryhard onto said goal , If i succeed within the timeframe thats cool ,but if i fail it that usually causes me to Burn out or not wanting to play anymore.
Ten leagues in and doing my first minion build. Needless to say minions is probably my favourite time leveling with any build so far, can’t say it’s going to win any awards but already feeling this leagues going to be a good one.
you said you wouldn t get to the end of all for one, but to be honest, you re the closest everyone ever been, i mean, even in trade poe, most people won t bother even trying to fill it, so if i had to guess, you are probably in the top 1% of the "unique progressed player" that s pretty cool, and i think you can finish it, and you're "always down for a grind" i ll watch it till the end
my only gear goals for my first char (toxic rain pathfinder) is to farm porcupine, maybe even in a8, and chance quill rain that+ rares+ lvl 20 gem should be enough for everything but high lvl sirus even if i dont hit that chance, i can essence craft +2 bow gems really early
Been playing SSF exclusively since 3.8. I also play melee almost exclusively because I hate myself. I've always felt like getting a 6-link is almost unrealistic in SSF. I can 5-link something just fine, so I always plan my builds as 5L. The only non-Tabula 6L I've ever had drop was a corrupted ES base with 5R/1B sockets which sucks as I never have that much INT. In Harvest, I'll definitely make it a point to not skip any Vaal side areas and I'll probably alch and corrupt Armourer's Strongboxes later on. I don't know if you respond to specific questions on your videos as I assume you're quite busy with content creation and real-life stuff, but if you (or anyone else) can give some advice as to how to best go about manually 6-linking items with fusings, cause at some point you're going to want appropriate socket colors for maximum DPS and good stats as well - I'd really appreciate it. I know there are other ways to 6L like through div cards for an Astral Plate or Fated Connections prophecy, so you can augment maps to run the content that is likelier to drop such things, but I've seen you manually 6 link SO many items throughout your series and it makes me foam at the mouth. As far as I know, you want quality over 20% to increase your odds, you do that through Betrayal AFAIK. What's the most optimal way to set up your Betrayal board to do this? The best way to get fusings is to vendor 6 socketed items and then convert the jewelers to fusings, so I take it you want to run as much IIQ on your maps as possible, and run as many maps as you can to build up a supply, and then start throwing fusings at items? Is that it?
The best way to get fusings is to vendor all jewellery, and use the currency vendor to upgrade them into jewellery orbs, which can then be used to buy fusings.

I appreciate this video because I am still relatively new to PoE, what is a conversion trap? Lol. I'm running an ice trap build saboteur currently (until I find a new trap type that I like) and I haven't heard of conversion traps.
Conversion just refers to converting a specific damage type to another one. There are a couple of reasons people do this. Some want to utilize specific ailments such as cold for the shatter while some take advantage of double dipping increase multipliers which lead to higher overall DPS.
While the information that other person said is technically correct, I believe lighty was referring to the trap that essentially possesses enemies that trigger it. I can't blame them for forgetting it exists though cause it's pretty useless.
i only have around 12 tabs (6 premium + 6 regular) + currency tab + fragment tab. i was thinking of starting a ssf but i'm not sure if it'd be enjoyable with that amount of tabs since even in trade i seem to run out of space in endgame. My question is do you think i'd be able to manage myself in ssf with that amount of tabs or should i just stick to trade?
I think you'll be ok with that. You may struggle managing maps and div cards. Best bet is to just try it and see how it goes - you can always send your character over to trade later. I have massive stash space and find myself using less and less per leaguege - at this point I use a quad dump tab (which you can easily go without, a run tab (rolled maps, organs, prophecies ect) a tab for vendor recipes (don't need this), a tab for nice gear I've found and the specialty tabs. This covers 90% of what I actually need. In your situation I would probably want a tab for unrolled maps, a tab for div cards, a crafting tab(bases, oils, fossils, essence) and a tab for uniques. You'll have to spend more time between maps and have to be pickier about what you keep, but you should be ok.

The best source of currency for SSF is Uber lab.
Mapping + Uber lab+ Delve is a must to acquire some gear or craft them easily.

If you play SSF you need dump tabs. Buy atleast 2 quad tabs, not investing will cause you huge amounts of pain, trust me
