    Something that is incredibly important for POE to me. Is the fact they their composer is in house. POE's music has evolved with the game and feels like an extension of the game itself and not just something it has.

      I've got to play devils advocate here and respectfully disagree. Nothing against Kamil, but IMHO the most iconic music of POE and some of my all time favorite composed pieces I've ever heard in any video game where by the former original composer: Adgio Hutchings (it's a darn shame most of the growing player-base never even heard his masterpieces before they were removed/replaced in 2018)
      The original Lioneye's watch Solaris/Lunaris Temple music, title theme, etc...are irreplaceable to me and I still listen to them to this day over Kamil's modern variant's. With that being said I love the addition of Kamil's arrangements that weren't replacements of Adgio's (act V onwards...)

      I think the biggest reason why they do so well is that they keep most of the same staff, so people have tons of experience on their specific engine/hardware and culture. So many other publisher/devs contract out and lay off so many people that the turnover guarantees there's no solid learning and experience for the dev to really sink their teeth into. Like 50% of my respect for Chris and co. is that they like the game they're making. How many devs working for microsoft even enjoy playing something like Red Fall or Starfield? Probably not a ton. And those that do likely get soured once their 18 months is up and they're effectively fired, only to be rehired onto some other team, for another game that might not even ship, for 18 more months of struggling to learn the dev structure.

    POE is such a rewarding game when you start understanding its mechanics. The feeling of constant progression is what makes me come back to the game every time. The way they improved combat (I think so) and their will to be more "accessible" (in game tools, video tutorials...) make me feel really optimistic for POE2...(and the graphics improvements, and the way they build each class fantasy...and so on :p). Thanks for the video!

      They seem to be drastically improving the new player experience in their sequel and making it more approachable for sure. I think Path of Building will still be the means for min maxing but it's an amazing tool and from what ZiggyD has said, the "feel" of the combat and character are equally as important as the spec this time around and the combat looks a bit slower and more thoughtful than just rightclicking (maybe not as much with full gear in the end game).

    What I am most excited for in POE 2 is both the smoother looking combat experience (including the WASD movement), and the new classes, I like the 6 classes that are in PoE 1, but them broadening the scope to allow for more specific play styles is exciting.

    Magnificent video! Got me hooked from top to bottom! My favourite "feature" of PoE2 is the synergy between skills. Getting to play the game at Gamescom 2024, I loved for example the new Barrage skill and some new skill similar to Storm Rain. Barrage no longer just fires a blant volley of arrows, but rather consumes all frenzy charges to repeat the next projectile skill within a couple of seconds for X times where X is the amount of frenzy charges consumed plus 1.
    At first it threw me off, but in the end I really liked this new designed space of skills interacting with each other.

    this is such a cool video, I'm a Kiwi and started playing at Closed Beta. Your video bought back some good old memories and I'd totally forgotten about Chris shaving his hair for the kids charity. I've visited both studios as I did live in West Auckland and it was fun to see the original one in Titirangi. I had a wee break even though I had beta access as they worked on acts 4-10 as unfortunately my friends didn't have access too so we went off and played other games. Personally I have found it extremely hard to understand all the mechanics every time I try to pick it up again. So hopeful that POE2 maybe a fresh start. One of the things i used to love was the challenge to get every class to level 60/70 that would be a cool league challenge to do again and understand what each class can do. I'm so looking forward to POE 2 going live. Roll on Dec 7th (the day it will go live in NZ as we live in the future down under ;)

    most excited for the new engine overall after putting so much time into POE I really just want that expanded upon more than they can currently. These guys are like a rock group, not too many devs left during the formative years and success, they grew up with each other and didn't get money hungry or go start there own thing for whatever reason. I also think it shows how a group with a clear direction and shared ideals can get shit done.

    • @GavrynGaming
      @GavrynGaming  3 місяці тому +1

      The new engine, animations, the whole feel will literally be the game they wanted to make but now with over a decade more experience, the tech, the money and the team, I'm beyond stoked! And you're so right, they had this planned out so well from the get-go and have iterated amazingly over the years 100%.
      Some things were big L's or misses but they were at least experimenting!

      @@GavrynGaming It's not really a new engine tho. They have just upgraded their own engine. imo what makes poe good is that it appeals heavily to the mel archetype (look up mel vorthos mtg), basically a ton of things are "oh yeah, see this item with this insane effect but that has a drawback? we don't care about the main effect, just the drawback because of these things interacting making it great."
    (e.g. indigon being used only for the mana cost increase, the vaal timeless jewel keystone that gives %life as extra es being used for the 50% damage bypasses es in hybrid mom builds so the damage is spread across all 3 ressources, doryani's prototype making items with negative lightning resistance valuable etc...)

      Would be very cool to see an MTG expert breakdown some of PoE's mechanics, I know for a fact they've taken heavy inspiration with a lot of their systems inside and out of the game, making uniques and their item system in general akin to Magic cards wouldn't surprise me in the slightest, awesome comparison!

I just broke over 140 hours and finally reached end game and started mapping. It's amazing! I didn't have to pay anything at all.
