- The 2020 TaylorMade P770's were known as one of the best irons released by TaylorMade. Hollow body construction coupled with tour shaping meant this was in a lot of amateur and professional golfers bags.
In 2022, we have a new iteration. SpeedFoam air means this club should have better performance. How much better will it be?
Alex takes the NEW TaylorMade P770 to Gatwick Golf to test against the 2020 TaylorMade P770.

Good video review. I agree the new p770 looks too similar to the p790 which is great for a combo set but not so great when you want to deferentiate yourself on the golf course (golfer's ego. Lol) . Imo 2020 p770 is one of the best looking non-bladed iron ever.
Hard to beat the 2020 p770'!
Great to know the P770 are coming out now as was going to get the P790 after a fitting so will like to try these in the lower end of the bag to see if I can still go for the combo now.
Great idea! I think a p770/90 combo would be absolutely amazing
I have done exactly that with the new 790 3-7 & old 770 8-PW (I use milled grind wedges). All lofts matched to account for the slightly stronger 790’s (note I’m 60yo & 10hcap). Very happy with the decision. The slightly smaller heads on the short irons suit. I did try the 790’s 8-W but just wasn’t as comfortable with the eye. The 790’s help confidence hitting 3 & 4 irons for sure & if you really want to go for a long one are a forgiving strike. Over the ball, I don’t even notice that they’re different clubs, regardless of the chrome finish. Big key is do a good fitting.
I have changed from the 2017 p790s to these and the dispersion is way better for me !

I game the 2020 P790 so I just order 8-PW in 2023 P770 just to up the sexiness level of my bag.

I love my P7MB but these new ones look different on the back, I know they are slimmer soled.
No new balls as of yet.
MB's are slightly more refined with a new back bar - Got a video coming out on those later this week!
It’s weird, but I like my long irons to be compact with a short blade. Chunky clubs really mess with my mental. Especially since my first ever set of clubs were small burner tours. Anyways, are the 5 irons small/player-ish style in the 770s?

Are these too advanced for a 14 HCP? Would you recommend the p790’s instead?
They absolutely can be used by a 14 handicap, but when ask yourself a few questions if you're torn between these and the P790's: Do you have a fast swing speed? Is ball striking a good part of your game? Do you like combo sets? I you have a fast swing speed, the lofts of the P790's might make it difficult to get optimal numbers (low spin). Personally, I'd consider looking into a combo set of the p790's in the long irons, and p770's in the short irons.

My only worry with the new P-770... Will they still look new after a few rounds with the heads banging against each other..
They are very similar to the P790s and they've been fine for me - the finish holds up a lot more than you think.
Bottom line, these will not help to lower handicap. I play with the speed blades and they can’t be bested by these
Did you find the new P770 to be softer/firmer feeling than the old P770, or about the same?
Slighter softer. I felt that the new P770's had a duller softer feel.

770s are now basically the 790s….. stick with the 2020s
They dont make the AW for lefties. A tad disappointed to realize that.
Pretty sure both bladelengths are 77mm hence the name p770
