Thank you for doing this. OMGosh, you should see Roy Clarke play on the TV show The Odd Couple, playing Maleguena (probably wrong spelling). The camera doesn't keep up with his hand speeds. Terrific guitarists!
Oh man - these are two of the greats! My dad RIP was born in Italy and he thought Hee Haw was the funniest show ever! Americans at their silliest. But also, there was SO much talent! Nice one, guys! ❤❤
This is from September 1990. They could play pretty much anything with strings. Just awesome musicians. Loved watching them on Hee Haw in the evenings with my family around the old tv set after dinner back in the 1960's and 1970's. Ah the days of long ago. It was a great time to grow up. Howdy y'all from the Great State of Texas 🤠🇺🇸
Glen played on so many iconic hits of the 60s before he became a solo or TV star. Heartbreaking to watch the doco from about 10 years back showing him to succumbing to dementia.
Glen Campbell's guitar was the first to be placed in the Smithsonian Institute and Glen was also a Beach Boy for a year before landing his television show. Roy & Glen were great friends, both humble, and they made it look so easy. RIP Gentlemen ❤.
Glen Campbell was originally a member of the "Wrecking Crew", as a studio guitarist. He appears on thousands of multiple artists hit records in the 60s and 70s. His personal breakthrough hit was 1967's "Gentle On My Mind". Other Glen Campbell chart hits were, "Wichita Lineman, "By The Time I Get To Phoenix", and Galveston", among others. Roy Clark is a guitar virtuoso in his own right. Check out his version of "Malaguena". Also checking out episodes of "Hee Haw", is a must. Roy Clark passed in 2018 and Glen Campbell passed in 2017 of Alzheimer's.
They most certainly did record this in 1990. Both men were legends here in the USA! Roy Clark did an AMAZING sketch piece on the TV show The Odd couple that you HAVE GOT TO SEE!!! That tie is called a "bolo tie" in case you were wondering.
These guys were fantastic musicians! They were also good singers, and Roy would make funny expressions when playing an instrument. The only two people i know of that play a 12 string guitar is Glen on an electric guitar, and Keith Potger of The Seekers plays a 12 string acoustic guitar. RIP Roy and Glen.
Glen Campbell started as a studio guitarist and played lead on some of the best known pop and rock hits of the 1960s. He was such a great guitarist that Eddie Van Halen asked Glenn's good friend Alice Cooper if Coop could ask Glenn to give Eddie guitar lessons!
Glen Campbell started as a Studio Muscian and considers a top 3 player. Roy Clark was great playing literally. anythjng with strings. Guitar, violent, mandolin and Banjo. You guys need to check out Johnny Cash singing "ghost Riders in the Sky
I grew up watching both of these talented guys. Glen Campbell had some really good songs like "Wichita Lineman" and others. Roy Clark mastered several instruments. You really need to check out Roy Clark playing Malagueña and Roy Clark with Buck Trent playing "Dueling Banjos". I think BP1 would even have to admit their banjo duet is amazing. Thanks for another awesome reaction guys. You always treat us to a brilliant variety of genres.- Hawk
Glenn Campbell was a member of the Wrecking Crew that played for many artists on their albums. He also toured and filled in for the Beach Boys all before he hit it big on his solo career. Roy was a award winning musician for banjo, guitar and fiddle with some of the quickest wrists and hands I have ever seen.
These guys were icons in their day. Roy Clark was exceptional - played guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin - actually anything with strings. Watch him on the “Odd Couple” playing Malaguéna.
A classic. If you think Glenn Campbell is playing fast, you need to see and hear Roy Clark play the song "Maleguena" on the tv show, "The Odd Couple Show" ( video) Glenn Campbell: "The Wichita Lineman". " Rhinestone Cowboy". "By The Time I Get to Pheonix"
Both men were monster musicians. The country pickers back in the day were playing clean, blazing lines without the aid of copious amouts of distortion used by metal players. The level of technique and ability to rip quadruplets anytime, anywhere with ease, like Campbell? These fellas are in fact very well respected by guitarists of all genres, what you saw here was just a tiny taste of what they have to offer.
Checkout Glen doing The William Tell Overture, or Roy doing Dueling Banjos. There are a number of videos of Roy doing Malaguena with different guitars. Ghost Riders has been played by old school C&W stars since about 1950. These two are Guitar Gods.
Roy Clarke on TV show the Odd Couple playing Malaguena. The best. Glen Campbell had several hits - By the Time I Get to Phoenix, Wichita Lineman, and Rhinestone Cowboy are just a sample. Roy Clarke has a few good songs out too - Yesterday When I Was Young, and Thank God and Greyhound You're Gone are two good ones. Both are top notch musicians, singing and playing string instruments.
You guys look old enough to know who Glen Campbell was. Look him up, I’m sure you will recognize all the hits he had. He was a major pop star in his day.
Glen Cambell was a session musician with the legendary Wrecking Crew before going solo. I always challenge the idea he is a country musician. His body of work doesn't support it. He is a country boy who is a musician. Check out Roy Clark playing Malaguena on the Odd Couple television show
What I found out really interested about Glen Campbell is that was good friends with Alice Cooper and they played golf together frequently in Phoenix Arizona where they both lived.
I'm from Arkansas and I grew up watching HEE HAW every week. They always featured the most popular country artist of the time. Not to mention the prettiest of young ladies in overalls. Driving country folks crazy 😁😀😁😀 have a great day!
Just so you know, the tuning of a six string is EADGBE, with the first E being low and the last E being 2 octaves higher. The 12 string is basically the same. The paired strings are close to each other with a gap between the different notes. The tuning is EeAaDdGgBBEE. with the lower case letter representing one octave higher then its partner string. The last two partners have the identical tuning as it would put too much stress on the neck to try to tune an octave higher.
Roy played many instruments very well including electric, standard and Spanish guitars as well as banjo, mandolin and fiddle. Would BP1 want me to look for a good banjo song?
Now you've done it... you HAVE to check out Hee Haw!!!! LOLOL I bet you'll love it. Find and watch Roy Clark play Malaguena--he was a national treasure. Watch the classic John Wayne version of True Grit, Glen Campbell played La Boeuf, the Texas Ranger.
Good afternoon y'all. I hope you're well! These two are undeniably awesome. HOWEVER I dare say that BILLY STRINGS is it just as good or in my opinion even better. If you enjoyed this then you should definitely look into Billy's performance of TURMOIL AND TIN FOIL (live at the roots) DUST IN A BAGGIE (this one is live from someone's basement 😆🤘) COCAINE BLUES LIVE AT LOLLAPALOOZA If you like duos check out MARCUS KING & BILLY STRINGS I'M A LONESOME FUGITIVE SUMMERTIME It's modern bluegrass and very very impressive. Thank you I hope you have a wonderful day! 😁😀😆🤘
Thank you for doing this. OMGosh, you should see Roy Clarke play on the TV show The Odd Couple, playing Maleguena (probably wrong spelling). The camera doesn't keep up with his hand speeds. Terrific guitarists!
Both these guys can play anything with strings.

There's a video of Roy Clark playing Malaguena on a 12 string. He rips it up, and used a technique that you don't see every day.

Both of them had lightening fingers!
Here is a good guest appearance by Roy: Roy Clark - Malaguena (The Odd Couple Show)

Roy Clark was a treasure.
A Treasure in simply one of the very best musicians who ever played...unbelievable talent!!
If you thought that was quick playing, watch Glenn Campbell do the William Tell Overture.

Roy Clark was on a tv show called Hee- Haw. We used to watch the show on Saturday nights.
I watched the documentary about The Wrecking Crew. it was very informative.

Glenn Campbell: "The Wichita Lineman". " Rhinestone Cowboy". "By The Time I Get to Pheonix"
These two are the best. I miss you on Amira
This was great and yes, great legends.
The show Hee Haw was a bit like Laugh-In but with Country music.
Campy but funny.
Good description. I watched both of those programs growing up. Where I was from we considered them the educational programs.
These gentlemen are guitar virtuoso's Clark plays banjo, and violin as well. As usual I enjoy the reaction, thank you.
Saw Glen Campbell live years ago amazing!
Gave me nostalgia for Saturday afternoons listening to (whether we liked it or not) my dad watching spaghetti westerns on maximum volume 😊

Hee Haw was a country music version of Rowan and Martin's Laugh In.I wonder if Brits love country music 🎶
Glen Campbell co-starred alongside John Wayne in True Grit as well.
two master musicians
Brilliant!
Loved this! Thank you!
From the 70's
Thank you! Awesome video! ❤👍

Check Roy Clark playing 12th STREET RAG, and his version of Johnny Cash’s Folsom Prison Blues, funny and thank God and Greg she’s gone! 😂
Glenn play the WILLIAM TELL OVERTURE with some Philharmonic orchestra, its amazing 😊
You guys look old enough to know who Glen Campbell was. Look him up, I’m sure you will recognize all the hits he had. He was a major pop star in his day.
Glen at one time played with the Beach Boys after Brian Wilson left in the early 60s. Check him out playing the William Tell Overture.

Portsmouth/Norfolk are cities in southeast Virginia.
If you've ever seen the John Wayne movie version of True Grit, you've seen Glenn Campbell as an actor....😊
What I found out really interested about Glen Campbell is that was good friends with Alice Cooper and they played golf together frequently in Phoenix Arizona where they both lived.
👍👍A 🔥🔥🔥🔥performance by 2 very talented artists. I loved watching HEE HAW, being a hillbilly myself. 🖖❤
I'm from Arkansas and I grew up watching HEE HAW every week. They always featured the most popular country artist of the time. Not to mention the prettiest of young ladies in overalls. Driving country folks crazy 😁😀😁😀 have a great day!
Both of these guys are among the top 5 guitarists of all time. Glenn could never read music. He learned how to play, totally by ear.

This was good but there are better. Try this one: Roy Clark "Good Ol' Boy" Plays A Mean Guitar ~ Live (1976)

Shame both are now deceased.
