I'm Swedish! When I was growing up, Sweden was a fairytale country "so if a murder happened (very rare) and it was in the newspaper, my mother always said "I'm not happy that you're out when a murderer is on the loose" even though it happened like 750 km from us! I laugh when I think about it! and I get sad when I see what mass immigration from the Middle East has done, People in the media deny just like in Germany, Sweden has got a huge crime rate, I just like you want to live in security, but the EU has ruined our countries (you could move here before the EU without problems) I only see the development negatively.

Statistics show that the general crime rate hasn't changed much since 2014. And of course you missed the point that all involved were Swedish - it doesn't fit your narrative, does it?

That’s exactly how it is, and when you look at England, it gets really scary. Not only have three little girls had to pay with their lives again, but now you can end up in prison if you speak out about it. It seems like your little brother, the Danes, are doing a great job when it comes to politics. Greetings from Germany.

Now it is the case that the killers were immigrants with a certain culture But they are always called "Swedes" in the Fake Media, killers In Paris The murder, The killers on the Costa del sol, The killers in London, The killer in Belgium ALL ARE THE IMMIGRANTS!

It is always unpleasant when violence comes close to one's own steps. I feel the same. Where we live, a quiet and popular residential area, where you don't think anything will happen. But all of a sudden it happens.
There was a large police presence in May/June, several blocks were cordoned off very early in the morning. A suspicious object had been found by a person who was out with the dog. Only 200 meters from where we live. The object was outside a terraced house. It turned out to be a sharp explosive charge. Had it exploded, disaster with likely deaths.
There is apparently a shady person living in one of the apartments in the townhouse.
So of course you get some annoying thoughts at first, but you have to shake them off.
Sweden is a nice country after all.

We have a saying is Sweden. "Everything is relative". Because although very tragic, this sound like domestic abuse gone horribly wrong in both cases. At least it wasn't shooting or bombing between rival gangs in broad daylight like in some other quiet neighbourhoods in Stockholm the last few years. It turns out close family of hardened criminals also sometimes live in these areas, which is not really surprising. What is new is that they go after close family when they cannot get to their enemies directly. As long as THAT is not happening in your neighborhood your should be just fine!

Bad things happen everywhere. But it's best to put things into perspective. There are typically less than 1 murder per 100000 people per year in Sweden, Germany and many other western European countries. The homicide rate in the USA is roughly 10 times higher and 50 times higher where I live. We don't even bother getting up or stopping what we are doing when we hear shots or alarms going off. Murders usually involves people who know one another. I'm frankly much more worried about aggressive drivers when I'm trying to walk my dogs than I am about criminals.
I might be getting an opportunity to work in Stockholm and did a little research when people warned me about crime there. But my research showed that I will be 50 times safer there. It also seems like the Swedish government and police are tackling the problems there.

@@LivingSwedish Furthermore, deadly violence in Sweden does not stand out compared to other Western European countries. It's only that the percentage of murders with guns is higher in Sweden. As an example, Finland has a higher murder rate than Sweden, while Denmark is slightly lower. There's so much hysteria about crime in Sweden, often fuelled by international media. Not to downplay the issue with gangs, only that people should keep things in perspective.

    Terrible things happen everywhere.
My father lives in one of the most idyllic and gorgeous villages you can imagine, Malexander, (very popular among German tourists) situated on the Northern shore of lake Sommen, and so did my grandmother.
In the 90s, Sweden was plagued by a series of very brutal armed bank robberies. Basically, the Swedish far right robbed banks to finance their activities.
On May 28th 1999, three nazis, (one of them had been a volunteer in the Bosnian war , and committed war crimes down there) armed with automatic rifles and hand grenades robbed a bank in a nearby town, and of coourse the police started chasing them. In Malexander, in a place that essentially borders my grandmothers land, a polic car with two officers inside caught up with the robbers. The robbers responded by opening fire on the police car, and then walking over to it, and then killed the officeds with the officers own pistols, at point blank range.
The murderers were quickly caught and sentenced to jail. Two of them were released in 2022 and 2023 respectively, and the guy who was also a war criminal is still in jail and is unlikely to be released anytime soon. Malexander is just as beautiful, peaceful and idyllic as it's always been. The inhabitants still only lock their doors on Midsummer's eve.

    • @rasmuswi
      @rasmuswi Місяць тому +1

Also, what happeded on your street used to be by far the most common type of murder in Sweden. An alcoholic would murder another alcoholic, or and alcoholic would murder their significant other. Homicide rates in Sweden peaked sometime in the late 80s or early 90s, and most of it was these kind of murders. What has happened since then is that alcohol consumption has declined significally so we have a lot fewer alcoholics. At the same time we have gotten a lot of gang related violence, and this seems to have caused a slight uptick in homicide rates in the last five years or so.

My thoughts would be very much the same as yours in this matter. One of the most difficult things to consider buying a house is: What is the neighbourhood like? Is it good or bad. It's very hard to know before you lived there for a while. Some areas have a reputaion, but still, you don't know until you've lived there yourself. Another thing is that a crime is committed by one perpetrator not the neighbourhood. 99,99% of the neighbours are just as worried as you are. Still it is very scary to get it so close on. And it is very sad to think about the children who are alone without their parents. 😪

    • @LivingSwedish

  • @AdvocateOfJamaica

I wouldn't worry about it, and I wouldn't feel so uncomfortable to consider moving. Overall, the neighbourhood sounds safe, and it doesn't seem as if they have a high-crime issue. Just one of those unfortunate things that sometimes happens in life.
The house where it happened seemed to be snatched up quickly, but one question I had is if an incident like that would lower property values.

    • @LivingSwedish

Sorry to hear about these murder on your street offcourse it gotta be shocking. Regardless what nationality/ethnicity a murderer might have these things rarely happen back in the days. Unfortunately nowadays you barely react cause it happens so often. As late as last night in Göteborg a house was shot at several times and there have been so many explosions here as well this year. We have had our "share" of deadly shootings as well. Something has dramatically changed the last 20-30 years here in Sweden. Of course it was terrible what happened on the street you live on, but think now if your one neighbor hadn't told you this, you would never have known anything. Because you have to remember that it's not always what happened before on a street with neighbors wherever you are in the world. Since what happened on your street is called an isolated incident, that is, these murders happened within the vanil and no outsiders were affected.
So you cannot scare yourself or others that it will happen to you to be murdered or that someone else who moves to Sweden will be affected or others who live in Sweden will be affected. Because it's easy to let your thoughts and imagination run wild and create the worst untrue fantasies.

@@LivingSwedish Good that. The mistake is that many people who get scared easily, think that it will happen to them even though the kingdom is small. I mean even those who watch this video, think they can be affected. Have come across such on Facebook, when it is written about shootings that they will suffer or laws that politicians introduce against the criminals. I tell them that if you are a well-mannered person and do not deal with criminals, then nothing happens when it comes to criminals among themselves. The same with laws that are introduced.
Even this with murders that you told about, people take it to heart and become worried that it will happen to them, if they move near where the murders happened.
