“I coulda been anyone, I chose to be myself” is the most punk rock thing I’ve heard in a long time. Scogin is the man.
Everything that Josh Scogin has done (Norma Jean, The Chariot, ‘68, etc) is absolutely fantastic. Had the chance to see ‘68 back in April and wow, what a performance!
LUCKY
Ga REPRESENT tonight the south is on fire!
favorite vocalist ever 💯
I thought that's who that was! So sick he's still making heavy shit
I have a CD of his solo work, A Rose By Any Other Name
That guitar tone is insane.
I believe he runs a split signal through both a guitar amp and bass amp, probably with an octave pedal on the bass signal chain. He also employs some non-standard tunings which fill out the sound and are lower (C, etc.)
@@jonbhorton That is correct!! That's how he gets that INSANE low end lol
Thicc.
I’ve never heard of ‘68. My mind is blown by this performance and the musicianship. Drummer is insanely good and makes this 3 piece kit sound massive. A 2 pc band done right! Record is on order.
Agreed!
Finally a pro shot so we can hear all those ghost notes and other details.
Finally a singer assisting in load out.
Lol this is way funnier if you watch the last 3 minutes
😂😂😂😂😂😂
THIS. This is the live recording of '68 the world needed.
In my hometown too 👍
such a massive sound from a two piece band. so much talent
Check out royal blood if you like this! They’re a two piece and have similar tone
@@thedarkcosmos4633 also aiming for enrike
@@thedarkcosmos4633 Royal blood sucks lol comparing to these guys. No playbacks, no additional members, only giant pedalboard madness. True ton!
Holy shit this is 2 people lol I was only listening for a minute
Ya octave pedal in there
I love these guys, the end of this set was hilarious. As someone living in a third world country where these bands will never tour, thanks for spreading the love and music with these videos
You live in America too?
What a great way to be introduced to this band! I definitely need to see them live in person! The sound, performance, cameras! All excellent.
Lights, camera, action!
I was accidentally introduced to them live. Went to a show where they opened and never heard of them. Instant fan!
This is insanely well-recorded and well-shot, and it still doesn’t capture how heavy that guitar feels in person. I just saw them last night without knowing about them and it is an experience, everyone who loves this vid NEEDS to go see them live.
I saw them live with Sparta a few weeks ago in a much smaller venue, had never heard of them before. They fucking rock.
I’m back for my daily viewing of this
I've seen them a dozen times, and it gets better every time. Nikko absolutely fucking destroys. Love watching him drum.
Every time I see them I always leave saying "that was the best damn show I've ever been to"
And I mean it. These two put on one hell of a gig!
One of the many role models for my duo band. Their drip is unmatched, oozing nearly as much swagger as Royal Blood with twice the energy
The suits make them look like tools.. but respect for being a duo
@@hhaste smell weed
@@hhaste pretty sure looking like tools is part of the fun of jt
Damn yeah Royal Blood
Go see local h as well.
Saw them at furnace fest and they put on one of the most unique, dynamic performances I have ever seen. Legends
YES. legends captured by a legend. One of the best acts in the game today. Rock and roll is here to stay
This is easily one of the most original pieces of musical expression and performance that I have seen in a very long time!
That angle from the drums that swivels is so sick for this band
Josh is just a natural born showman.
SET TIMESTAMPS:
0:10 Bad Bite
4:25 Three Is A Crowd
8:14 Whether Terrified Or Unafraid
16:58 The Lesser of Two Upheavals
13:28 Intergalactic (Beastie Boys cover)
Thank you kindly!
@@PineappleStickers that’s a record!!
Just saw these guys open for The Fall of Troy and I’m instantly hooked, the craziest stage presence I’ve seen since watching Dillinger, but it’s only 2 GUYS, WHATTT?!
Edit: 9:30 is so dope.
Want a crazier stage presence? Look up live videos of the lead singer of '68's last project The Chariot. You will not be disappointed.
Finally a 68‘ pro shot 😍 thanks for making and uploading this! Sound and video are on point
Had never heard of this band (had heard of Norma Jean, but wasn't a huge fan). I am blown away, this is an amazing performance. That guitar tone!
Finally a '68 hate5six video 🙌
unbeatable combo
Epic! So cool to see the crowd warm up to 68 as they rocked on. And that’s one of the best endings to a set I’ve ever seen. Josh is forever the man.
“Unfortunately, no one can be told what ‘68 is. You have to see it for yourself.”
- Morpheus, probably
The music speaks for itself, I gotta commend the quality of this audio recording. You guys perform magic, it sounds SO GOOD
Got to play with these guys in NY in august. Legends
its always been a pleasure watching Josh performance, captured by the one and only Sunny!!
I saw these guys open up for the bronx and Stone Sour. They won over almost the entire crowd in their short set.
that's a fuckin weird line up
Saw these guys at ArcTanGent a couple of days ago and they just blew me away. Thanks for sharing this so I can enjoy them live all over again!
I've been waiting for you to upload sets from this show. Can't wait for Circa Survive's set.
‘68 is the best new Noise Rock band in a long time
i feel like its too surgical to be considered noise tbh. They're very obviously heavily inspired by the tonal concepts used by acts like lightning bolt, but LB always sounds like they're primed to explode while they're playing. This is good, its just way more controlled.
People say this about WHORES too but I would put them in a different category as well. It’s too nuanced. Too tight.
@@motherfuckerlimited1019 lol at least 68' have audible vocals that drive the song structure
Such a sick live band
I still miss The Chariot
Same. The House Cafe in Dekalb IL. Last time I saw them in the early 2000s.
The Chariot not getting the hate5six treatment is one of life’s great injustices
God sucks
If i ever get to play a show even 10% as crazy as The Chariot's were, I'll die a happy man
Things wouldn't be special if they lasted forever

dude!!!!!!! everyday i see who i always wanted you to film haha amazing man🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for this.
These guys blew my tits off opening for ETID in Jax. It's hard to describe how a couple of guys, who look like missionaries, can have so much energy, but it's explosive.
I was at that show too. They were so much fun and ETID killed it as well. Hoping '68 comes back this way soon.
WOW!!! Amazing job filming this👍👍👍👍
Josh Scogin did a wonderful job on The Chariot and now he has this amazing job with 68'. the closing of the show is great 🤌🏻🔥
I’m so glad to finally see them on the channel cuz they’re live performances are always improvised and they build upon their songs. Josh has an infectious energy that’s electric and Nikko is so loud and technical that it’s impossible to know who to look at on stage. The audio was impeccable too btw. Hope to see more of them on the channel as they are a national treasure.
unbelievable. ive been thinking about the short clip i saw on ig of this performance all damn day. the drummer! fucking mind blowing.
I had to keep looking... is that really a 2 piece? Huge sound and energy! First I heard them, thanks for the amazing content!
Was so bummed i missed this set, I was standing outside in line watching the wind wreak havoc...stoked its up
The fact that the drummer can do that with that minimalist kit just proves it’s not about the gear. Such creative parts. Obviously it’s not in a vacuum…the guitar gives it context to make sense. But still great on its own.
AND ANOTHAAAA ONE!!!!!!!
KILLER FIND!!!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU HATE5SIX!!!!!!!!!!
An incredible performance, but how has no one mentioned that they played a cover fucking Intergalactic Planetary by the Beastie Boys. that made me smile so much.
Probably because it's not called that
man this is fucking art
Saw them open for Thrice. Amazing!
such a big sound for a two-piece band
I’ve see these guys probably half a dozen times and this video is the closest t thing you will hear to their actual live sound. Well shot and well done!
And introducing Joseph Gordon-Levitt on the skins!
Saw these guys open for The Devil Wears Prada back in 2018 and the performance was so sick lol
One of the best live bands around mind blowing experience every time
These guys were amazing when they played in Buffalo NY a couple months ago. Even their drumset tear down was an amazing performance!
One of my favorite performances I saw of them live. This show was my 4th time seeing them, and they get better and better each time. This whole weekend was so bittersweet. Great performances but turned out to be ETID's last 2 shows 😢😢
The perfect small venue band to blow the roof off.
Fantastic !
Saw this band last night. Simply incredible.
Love to see improv in my rock n' roll set. Josh being all about spontaneous creation is why he's probably my favorite person making heavy music.
The thing about Nikko that really surprised me is that he is completely self taught. It just goes to show how far pure desire and passion can take an individual.. wow
Such an underrated band!!!
So good!
This is insanely wild 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
saw these guys open for Trivium in 2017/2018 and have been hooked ever since
Saw them open for August Burns Red a few years ago. I was blown away by their sound and energy for being a two-piece. Their second album is my favorite. Melodic and heavy in a way no one else is.
this was so amazing! So punk and all the things. Big things ahead for 68'!
Drummer is LOCKED IN.
Just the best ❤
Amazing! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Love this band. This duo is so talented.
Saw them last night and they are incredible
Just seen them tonight. THEY WERE SICK
My god I want to see this in a fucking movie theater. Unreal.
i'm here for a '68 hate5six video.
One of the highlights of the ETID Christmas show was this performance. Was 0 for 3 seeing them up to this point.
Awesome shot at 9:30!
What a fucking powerhouse of a band.
I’m only recently getting into these guys but love it ! Anyone know the titles to the first three songs ?
YES! '68 FOR LIFE!
Finally!
i know this is kind of stating the obvious, but their stage presence is SO DAMN GOOD like these guys genuinely look so cool doing whatever they want to do lmao
saw these lads over in the uk a couple of years ago.
they were that good. i genuinely can't even remember who they were opening for.
6 months later i spent a fortune on tickets for a show these were opening, just for another 25 minutes of this. fuck knows who headlined that show as well 😂
This video is going to age better than anything on UA-cam
“You’ll miss us..”
4:21 “Thank you kindly…. Here we go again.” Lol Love it
That was great
I still can't even begin to understand how they made their first album so perfect. Saw them with etid before they split and god damn, it was even better than this video
Damn. I wish I was there to see ETID(RIP) and 68. My 2 favorite bands!!!!
Yo what the hell bro! I am like fucking freaking out and cheering watching these guys - 1st timer, now fan.
The '68 on Hate5six?
G(L)ooooo on....
long live
Yes!!!
They rock!
Such fucking power from a two piece with such a small kit. That guitar tone is fucking bananas.
Amazing band!
Anybody have the set list from this gig?
That's what we talking about, 68 ,,,
I fucking love this band.
This is amazing. But seeing a '68 hate5six video makes me sad we'll never see a mewithoutYou hate5six video.
