HJÄRTAT VET VAD HANDEN GÖR (LYRICS)
“Det är för bedrövligt! Usch!”
“Vem fan är du?”
Ta det som ett löfte och gå
Dos av dagligt gift blev en drift
Trots allt kan du inte förstå
Tuggar slaktens kött på ditt skift
Fakta flödar ut och du tror
Slavar lyder konspiration
Men bakom min dörr
Fanns ett rike
En hemlig karta visar vägen
Till skatter av plast
Och pärlor av glas
“Usch”

HEART IN HAND (LYRICS)
“It’s simply woeful. Yuck!”
“Who the hell are you?”
Take it as a threat now and leave
Drop of toxins flows to a habit
Tell me what it is you can’t see
Teeth grinding flesh in the sabbat
Factual drowning stream, you believe
Slaves will follow conspiracy
Turn the locks on brother and kin
Murder lust on affinity
War in utopia
Slay cornucopia for symmetry
The parody is real
And we’re biding time
And while losing ground, make sure to worship monarchy
Death is but a story in a land of borrowed wealth
The burdened scale weighs heavy with the hunt for dopamine
Intolerance disguised as a faith
In secrecy we shun empathy
Soul critique online far too late
A throne for the devout enemy
War in utopia
Slay cornucopia for symmetry
The parody is real
And we’re biding time
And while losing ground, make sure to worship monarchy
Death is but a story in a land of borrowed wealth
The burdened scale weighs heavy with the hunt for dopamine
When I was young
So, so much younger than today
It seemed easier to lead your life
There was no time to surrender
And no reason to perceive
The burden of pain
As it passed through our lives every year somehow
And it never (really) went away
Yet behind my door
Was a kingdom
A secret outline showed the way
To treasures of clay
And beads made of glass
“Yuck!“
Somehow, they make their instruments sound like autumn.
That really sums up how I feel about Opeth, it really feels like autumn! Well said!
RIGHT?!
Absolutely agree.. like a path down a forest 🌳❤️
True always.feels like a forest in the autumn
Brilliant comment!
damn at first I thought it was a 17 minute song
Reading this at 1:30 and now I'm disappointed. :(
haha me, too
I was hoping it was, lol
So did I xD
but still, 8 minutes, not bad.. quite good song, only growl could make it even better :/

I'm swedish, but had to take a few minutes to adjust to the awkwardness of hearing, and actually understanding, Opeth in swedish. Swedish lyrics works quite well, I even prefer them, and I see why you might like them because they appear exotic and mystical to non-swedish speakers. Both versions are absolutely great though! Så Opeth, fortsätt med fler svenska texter, tack!
yep but i feels like swedish version is just better with this opeth.
Gillar det med! Det är härligt, för fraseringen är helt annorlunda än i annan musik på svenska. Vad har vi som skulle kunna liknas vid detta?
I'm from Israel so for me it's quite an interesting experience
First Listen: 40% volume
Second Listen: 70% volume
Third Listen: 100% volume
More Listens: Lost 2% of my Hearing and I don't care Love this Album and song!
you know you´re prog when you make an 8 min song and fans comment on it not being 17 lol
@Lopyt *Sir_Guy* rádio length is 2:30 to 4:30 bro
Haha
@Lopyt *Sir_Guy* i wouldn't say it's "short" but more like the average length of a straightforward prog song. Most old Opeth songs were around 10 minutes which isn't a whole lot more than 8.
Gotta admit I was a tiny bit disappointed when I realised that the song was in fact 8,30 minutes long instead of 17... But it's great whatsoever!
Yes, I thought it was 17 minutes, at first. Quite the disappointment that it’s only 8 minutes lol
I am hearing this album like almost 2 years (swedish and english) and i am impressed, really. Long live to Opeth
the writing...the production...the bass!! all so great....instant classic
The gods have spoke once again
but this time
They speak in Swedish
their master plan to convert everyone to speaking Swedish finally shows, English speakers rise up

Although I'm disappointed this isn't a 17 minute song, I don't think people realize how hard it is to make lyrics fit seamlessly with the timings of a song in two different languages; I'm pretty impressed.
first of all, I have no fucking idea why they did this.
second of all, I love it.
@@icaro9382 pretty sure they wanted to do in swedish but realised most their fans don't know it and everything else they've done is in english so it kinda makes sense to have an english version too.
I would bet they wrote it in Swedish and then in English. It is easier to measure English btw, you can stretch the syllables and stress it in different places and so on. Super cool track!
the swedish acoustic part sounds 10 times better and i don't know swedish.
@@jyryhalonen4990 Even though I don't understand Swedish, I wouldn't mind if they just released the album in Swedish, but that's cool that they were able to take two languages and find the right lyrics to have them fit in each song.
OUTFUCKINGSTANDING
Making a swedish cd was the most perfect decision you guys could have
god, that calm part acoustics are absolutly beautiful... he did it again, genius.
Don't mind a slice of my Swedish prog daddies, thank you very much.
love that part when he goes "Skrattar du Flörlorar du"
Mathews Barbosa SKRATTAR DÜ FLÖRAR DU MANEEEEENNNNNN
🤘🤣
Well, this was a pleasant surprise.
Right?...didnt know what to expect. But not this
It sounds so great in Swedish (even if I don't understand it)! What a warm voice, what a wonderful song!
Opeth has always been evolving and that's what I admire about this band most .
One of the bands that I can easily say get better and better on every single album
@UC3bfgsD1QHgJ-IK91pw3WDg no, you're just speaking from bias because you don't like them.
From 5:46 (in Swedish version) and from 14:15 (in English version) until the end of the song, I always get chills down my spine. It leaves me in peace. Feels like I'm floating in the sky, amidst the clouds, leaving all my pain and sorrow behind. Incredibly beautiful feeling 💛✨

Thank you!!!
The English version was easier to understand än den svenska versionen
Omg thank you 🙏
That acoustic outro is my favorite part of the song. I LOVE the madrigal sound Mikael creates on the acoustic. Those leads are beautiful.
For everybody who doesn't speak Swedish, the title actually translates to "The heart knows what the hand does".
im from new zealand i love opeth and had no clue what the title said hahaha
ArtClassDropout Thank you. I don’t know sentence structures in Swedish however, the phrase appeared a bit long to be “Heart in Hand”
Uhhh naughty 😂
Idioms usually don't translate well literally.
Graa Blick I know, it sounds like masturbating 😂
This song has more power in Swedish than in English. Great job, guys:)
Opeth makes you feel something , no-one can ever make you feel .
Welcome back
Only opeth, annihilator and queen can🤫
Yes, disappointment.
Katatonia, Enslaved tho
have you heard of Mastodon tho?
@@heinzblassen4446 mastodon kind of suck
That acoustic guitar part is so good 🔥
Beautiful, eh? Very poignant. Reeks of classic older Opeth.
@@Darth_Revan25 no it doesn't. Older Opeth did haunting acoustic passages in dark progressions. This wouldn't be out of place in an 80s porno.
I didn't know Swedish sounds so beautiful, and this is one hell of a song, kept that Sorceress vibe. This band can't do no wrong to my ears.
Literally woke up, saw that they released a new song, and my day began perfectly. Couldn't ask for anything more!
Wow fvcking wow. I missed that cosy voice, welcome back!

For a long period of time opeth was my absolute favorite band. I saw them for the first time in 1999 at a little tiny venue in Detroit called the i-rock night club, touring black water park. I got to enter the club really early because I know the owners and soon found myself sitting at the bar with all 4 of them. Drinking Budweiser, smoking cigarettes and watching americas funniest home videos on a shitty little TV set mounted up in the corner. They were all laughing, I will never forget that. Got to talk to them for a good half hour. This is when Peter was still with them on guitar, and Martin on drums. The real deal line up there... I have a vhs copy of that show that someone had shot and I some how got ahold of a copy. But I believe you can actually view that show here on youtube if I’m not mistaken. I discovered them a few years earlier, I think ‘96 or ‘97 and they changed my life. Especially the first couple releases. Orchid and Morningrise are masterpieces. I’m sad to say that I started to loose interest around the watershed period. I love all sorts of music, but I got lost when they’re transition to prog came into play. Not that I’m being negative, but it just doesn’t feel the same inside. Nonetheless, some of the most talented and inspirational musicians ever to pick up instruments. Mikael is a musical genius. The earlier stuff will always hold a special place in my heart.
*Black Rose Immortal...
I'm chilean sorry my english, I have to say your story is exactly mine. for me Opeth was magic since 1997. I lost some interest in the watershed period too, and when heritage came out It was so hard to listen opeth in that way. not bad but not opeth any more. I love earlier albums too.
No worries my friend. I’m glad that we can touch on some common ground. I’m with you. The early stuff is just magical...
Man I don't get this. Watershed had more experimental song structure but Ghost Reveries was THE prog metal album, organ and progressive ideas all over that record. Damnation was like a modern Camel record. I genuinely have trouble understanding this.
Those fucking haunting chills man. Opeth is too good at causing them.
That verse part is 25/8, or more accurately to how it sounds it's 5/4 > 4/4 > 7/8
It's so satisfying to count along
It took me 1 year to like this song and now I listen to it everyday.
its awesome

That mixolydian acoustic passage in the end yet again proves Mikael is master of melodies
And of harmonies.
Yes

Very strong. Still one of the best bands going. As they've been from the start. Hail.
The weird bass noise ‘happy mistake’ happens at 4:57
New Opeth and on my birthday no less. Flawless as always. Thanks guys and welcome back!!!
1. The Swedish version is better
2. No more growl, but that's ok at least the technical riffing and fast drumming still there
3. The solo guitar is insane

Them solos boi! It's the dark arts right there!
They should re-record their olkd albums in swedish. I prefer the swedish version !
"heaviness is now more about emotions" yes Mikeal I mustn't cry over this outro but yeah I did.
It's on repeat all the day !!
That acoustic part .. I'm speechless .
Thank this artist for writing and perfecting this in its entirety....beautiful...just absolutely beautiful
This is Opeth in 2019 with another magnum opus.
Älskar den! Så härligt att höra Opeth på svenska
Verkligen fränt!!
Iconic transition of visualisation when the heavy part gives way to the melancholic end. Wow! Prog Gods Opeth are back!! Thanks for blessing us.. 🏵️🙏

I'm crying rn. Thank you, Opeth. Your music touched my heart and brain.
Something in the bass and drums in this music is hypnotizing me.
That last part.. it's meaning.. reaches straight to the soul
You know. All these complaints about the growls are gone on different social media places. Personally, yes, I do miss them. But I love his clean vocals, and I'm ok if he never does them again on a studio album. The only thing I really missed, was riffage. Metal riffage. And this new song definitely has everything I love. Heavy riffage, awesome songwriting, beautiful acoustic parts, tasty leads. The whole package. Amen.
The problem is not the clean vocals per se, but that bombastic vibrato ("ayayayayay") that has dominated the last two or three albums. These "clean" vocals are very different from the clean vocals on older albums.
Very well said. I concur. :3
@@MorusAlba1975 Where in this song is one of those vibratos? I'm not hearing anything like that... he's not exactly Bruce Dickinson.
And his singing is so much more improved from earlier albums. Have you really listened to Orchid and Morningrise lately?
Gloominess is the specialty of Opeth
His majestic, soaring clean vocals sadly get overlooked in favour of "where r growls bro". He's a top 5 heavy metal singer alive today.
Thank you for this blessing. Can't wait for the entire album.
Damn you are the first indian female.. who i see know and admire opeth. Amazing.

Killer tune. Opeth rules.
Fredrik and Axe kill it on this cut. Mikael still sounds amazing.
Joakim's synths are incredible too! He's a wizard!
Very cool. Opeth has morphed into this updated ‘70s-style progressive heavy metal band. I do miss the death vox and death tones of days gone by, but I’ll always support the band. Just too talented and cool.
Man this song makes me happy I kept the Opeth tat I got right after Watershed dropped. Death metal or not, you guys have been my favorite band in the world since I gave my older brother’s borrowed copy of Morningrise a listen in ‘97, and now I get a new album to listen to as the colors of fall begin to form :)

I love the reverb on his opening vocals...they absolutely soar..
No one, and I mean NO ONE does Metal and Melancholy like the Master Mikael. Bravo, once again to your incredible talent!
Was really worried about the upcoming stuff. This is a very pleasant surprise, hopefully the rest of the album is as great!
Without a shadow of a doubt!
For some reason, in spite of them never releasing an outright bad album (and being my favorite band), I'm always worried when something new is about to come out.
I swear it's like I can hear the growling vocals during the instrumental parts. I think Mikael recorded them and took them out just to torture us.
no
no duuuuuuuuuude he could have done that, but, what does it mean? uh? what does it sayyyyyyyyy? he mattured
Can’t think of anything worse on this song than growling vocals
It is so good in both languages, I can't fucking decide which one to listen, so I just press play and do it on repeat, looping one after the other. I love how this takes me back years and years, even though is a new piece. Thanks.
I absolutely have no problem with no growl, as long as they stay METAL, heavy guitar riff, crazy solo, fast drumming.
This is just a tasting and I'm already in love, finally Michael singing in Swedish which sounds better and more natural than English, this song is indeed heavy with those opening chuggy riffs and melodic chord progressions and that outro, perfection. There is no bad Opeth albums
The outro is for sure the best part. Very tasty and pleasent.
100% agree
Sorceress and Pale Communion had a lod of heavier stuff too with drop tunings and what have you, personally I love their current sound with the keyboards and warmer guitars. Heaviness doesn't have to equal screaming.
I loved the Swedish version, but boy, English sure is a melodic language, a natural fit for rock music. I remember thinking this when I couldn’t understand a word in English, and I kinda get a confirmation hearing those two versions now.
And what a beautiful video! Excellent for keeping the eyes busy, but not too distracting from the music.
But I got really annoyed by two (!!!) advert interruptions, just because I’m not an UA-cam Premium subscriber.

Definitely with Pale Communion, Opeth marked the sound for their modern catalogue. That album shows the Opeth's identity and direction nowadays.
