I've read some comments and felt desperate for these people advocating OLED monitors harder than the companies that produce them. It feels like every new product nowadays comes out to market as a new religion packed together with it's followers! Thanks for the video, I think the arguments are valid enough. I was considering getting a new display and it's probably wise to wait a little more. There is no point rushing a 4k oled anyway since the other system components lack the juice too. (cpu, gpu, etc...)
As a creator who goes against the mainstream reviews and suggests people to save their money on tech they don't need I'm always amazed by crazed people and how aggressive they get towards you for saying it, and you comparing it to new religion is spot on. Sad part is that frequently these are the same people who can barely make ends meet at the end of the month.
No doubt its nice to have, and if you're not in an immediate hurry for a Monitor its better to wait. But if you can grab a 2024 4k 240hz OLED for $7-800. Vs a 2025 model at $1300-$1500. I think there is value there. I mean even a 4090 only hits like what, 80-90 fps on Black Myth Wukong? It's going to be awhile before you can really capitalize on 240hz unless you exclusively play CS:go or overwatch
@user-zg2hg4cu5b i think high fps is only useful for shooters wukong looks good even in 60fps. I can get 240fps on 4090 in fortnite, but the quality sucks as you saw in the video. I'd say if someone plays only RPG games, then 240fps is an overkill
@CARLOSRUIZ-pe3mo image quality will suck though. Look at the full video, we have quality vs fps comparison there on RTX4090. It's night and day difference. Most people think that they will get that beautiful image and 240fps on these monitors, but you cannot! Too many bottlenecks
@@RomanDoes Understand mate, but will fine with my 4090 PC build and would be happy to run the monitor at 120 hz. Also the big cost down would be a part of the drop as well
Just got the G80SD for less than 50% off RRP direct. The sales this black friday are really good. That sold it for me. 1440p is more than fine if you need those higher frames and looks really good. I like my RPG's and pretty graphics more, so the choice was easy. D.P 2.1 4K 240Hz+ isn't gonna be relevant for a few more years to come. Im just happy I scored a really cheap Asus Tuf 4090 and am able to play is on a mini S95B. Either way, whatever your resolution of choice, OLED is a game changer with a crazy response time, so win win :)
@RomanDoes Always extended warranty when it comes to OLED for sure! UHBR80 will be a while I think... cables are especially short too. That's what I'm excited for anyways :)
I personally cannot see any difference between dsc on or off. My game looks just as good at 200+ frames dsc on than it does at 120 frames with dsc off. The human eye cannot see the difference.
@gerbermw that's what they told you. In fact, their own study on DSC says that in 75% of the time, human participants were not able to distinguish DSC. So a lot depends on content.
Life is too short for that, my friend; while it is nice to get updated systems, the marketing machine will sell you this nonsense and never tell you that there isn't a standardized cable format for it. The cables are the limiting factor. Anyone interested in getting a monitor, go get it and enjoy it; the prices have gone down so much that it is easy to appreciate what we have available.
@randomhobbyist99 Honest question, is that how you really understood the video? Whole point of the video is to tell viewer not to be wasteful and get the best tech for their setup. The next gen technology will be announced in a couple of months, and it will stay for the next several years while current generation of oled is just a mid cycle marketing push. Thanks for the feedback btw!
@soulhalo7343 great price, it might die in a year so since it's a Samsung, so I hope you got extended warranty on it. Otherwise it's a good starter monitor with great price tag!
you are completely missing the target audience for this display... people who play both casual games and competitive games, you play 1080p 480hz for competitive games that you can realistically run that high like cs2 and overwatch, and you switch it to 4k for casual gaming at whatever framerate you want to. the 1080p 480hz and 4k capabilities in general is the point of the product, not to play games at 4k 240hz. was already planning to buy one of these and this video completely misses the point lol
@ladyinwight well, try that first and then come back. That 1080p looks like crap on this panel when it works, there are better 1080p displays if you are into that.
DLSS exists for a reason, and its great, but your panel has to have the correct pixel density and layout for each res mode. This is why a stand alone 1080p monitor has better image quality next to any of these dual-mode 4Ks.
i haven't seen it in person but 4k scales directly to 1080p, there's no reason why it *should* look bad and this is the first time I've heard anyone say that. the only reason i could think of that it would look bad is because of the pixel density on such a large monitor
@KurdishGhost55 while on sale yes, but sale is not an indicator or MRSP. And regardless of the model, brand and price, you are getting 10 year old display port which is outdated today and will become obsolete the moment you decide to buy RTX 50-series GPUs
@KurdishGhost55 I also want to point out that such steep price drop is another indicator that manufacturer is trying to get rid of outdated tech. So if you can change monitors every other months, then skip this video 😃🫡
"Future proof" is the biggest oxymoron in pcgaming. I'll also give you money if you can see the dsc and non dsc. This video is so disingenuous. Not the first time I see a video like this from you. It's a shame these sort of channels earn any income whatsoever

Even a 5090 with a 9800x3d won't be able to push most games at 4k 240fps. Displayport 2.1 wont be relevant for at least another 5 years
Will see what final specs will be, but I very certain next year all monitors will come with DP2.1 by default, deep discounts is one of the indicators.

I guess kids are more interested in a monitor's refresh rate than the actual f'n picture quality. God there is some serious trash in UA-cam.
looks like that!
Just got the Alienware 32 4K QD-OLED Gaming Monitor - AW3225QF on black Friday sale at $1400 au, about $800 us, happy with that
