    A simple yet difficult move, find out why here when Jono teaches you how to do the loop jump.
    The loop jump is one of the edge jumps you can perform on the ice. It's an important move to learn when learning to figure skate. It can be challenging to keep things simple when trying this move, and it is important to learn the correct technique right from the start.
    The loop jump is commonly added to the end of other figure skating jump to form combination jumps on ice.

    I find this jump to be the most aesthetically pleasing one because the left leg winds around the body, it’s so beautiful!

    You guys are great coaches explaining exactly what to do with every part of the body. I’m just a beginner so this is a bit too advanced for me, but I’m excited to learn it at some point. Thank you for another wonderful video💙⛸

    Fingers crossed :)

      @@samishere6606 Unfortunately due to Covid-19 there's no open ice rink, and I'm limited to off-ice training. I can do (I think) quite decent loop jump on the pitch, and I also learned Lutz jump (thanks to watching A. Trusova in slow motion). I also train in Off-Ice skates (these are special blades you can order online, and they have five rolls and toe) I can do Toe Loop and I tried Lutz, but I can't do any edge jumps, because edge slips when I try to jump. I can't wait to go on ice!

    Thanks for the video! I am still on the waltz jump and see a long way to this one. So I was wondering what techniques should I acquire first before learning this jump? Like, do I need to learn spinning before this, or outside edge push, etc. In general, it would be really helpful that you briefly mention in each video the "prerequisite techniques" needed for the topic of the video.

      We'll look into potentially adding something like that into the description of the video. The biggest issue with that is, everyone learns differently and some people may learn the loop jump quicker than certain other jumps. The normal learning process for a skater would be to learn the waltz jump, then salchow, then toe loop and then the loop jump. But everyone is different and some people may prefer one jump to another!

    My coach has just started this with me last Sunday......I know exactly what you mean about being “one of the simplest jumps, but the most difficult to keep simple”. 🥴. Love your explanation of some it, has made a bit more sense to me.

      Ice Coach Online - so happy right now......last week, finally got the “feel” of the edge and the hook and managed a teeny weeny little jump.....I thought I was never going to get this jump and it was really starting to play with my head.....but now, I feel like I have overcome a big obstacle..... 👍🏼👍🏼

    Thank you so much for the video ! I seem to have problem about when to take off. I can do an off-ice loop jump and get full rotation. However, on ice I just can't find the point where I should take off and I just continue on right backward outside edge. Unlike salchow, flip, or toeloop, where to me it's clear at what point I should jump. Any suggestion ?

    Thank you for the video! I wanted to ask if you could possibly make an explanation video/post about that "hook" in more detail, pertaining to spins and jumps alike. As far as progress, I've got waltz and a modest salchow, and now working on toe loop, loop and upright spin. I feel that hook is exactly what im not getting correctly. In any case, thank you again :)

    • @IceCoachOnline
      @IceCoachOnline  4 роки тому +1

      Certainly, you have to think about the tracing or mark you are making on the ice. This should be shaped like a hook where the curve tightens at the end, right before you initiate the jump/spin. To create the hook, you need to use a mixture of knee bend, ankle bend, bodyweight lean and rotation of the hips. The hook is only necessary on the edge jumps such as Salchow, Loop and Axel

    I was trying waltz jump and broke my wrist after a fall. It went ok first few times until I got distracted. Took me a year to fully recover. But will try again once it is possible to go to ice skating rink. 😞

    Thank you for sharing your video! I have problem to keep my free leg straight on landing(in all jumps). My toe is pointed, but my knee is bend. Any tips on this?

    • @IceCoachOnline
      @IceCoachOnline  4 роки тому +1

      Try to concentrate on tensing the quadriceps which is the main group of muscles used to straighten the free leg. Also, this is a great reason to practice your landing position off the ice and in front of a mirror, to first of all achieve the look of a straight leg, and also be able to figure out what you're feeling when you do achieve it. That way you'll hopefully be able to replicate it on the ice
