He’s literally one of the biggest “What Ifs” in the past 6 years 💯 If he stayed at duke he would’ve been a really good player coming out of Duke. It’s funny because I kept telling my friends Sexton was the best guard between him and Duval
For the record, DUKE fans 100% support ALL our players & want them to succeed on & off the court! That said, while it is true that Duval may have perfected certain areas of his game early on it was his lack of confidence in his outside shot & not coming back for year 2 @ DUKE that cost him long term. It’s very misleading to suggest any elite guard who’s waited till college to develop his shot could ever be in a better position that going to DUKE…facts say otherwise regardless of how much talent is on the team. If anyone on that team can attest to that fact I t’s Gary Trent Jr coming into Duke as a decent shooter & became an elite sniper for DUKE that year. #FactsMatter, so just to be clear Trevon Duval actually DID SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVE his jumper while he was at DUKE ….check out his final game vs KANSAS is proof where he was unfortunately one of the better shooters on the team that day! Duval school choice 🚫 the issue! Being the only star it would’ve made FLAWS bigger NOT smaller so another school 🚫change anything because he would’ve still not been confident with his jumper & been assessed the same. In fact, there are many more examples of former Duke recruits who naively bought into opinions like yours going on to play for another school & they never got drafted. So the reality that still exists is that the only person to blame in the TD scenario is the young man who’s hype surpassed his ability so his humility prevented him from listening to Coach’s & draft experts to return to DUKE for yr.2 which 100% he would’ve had a dominant year possibly making a run for another Final 4. To support my take, guys like Tre Jones, Quinn Cook are proof that listening to Coaches & experts will always prove more beneficial than listening to peers telling you what you want to hear! 💯Tell it like it is so this doesn’t continue to happen 🔄
Duke was a terrible fit for him. Didn't let him play his game at all and there were too many other guys on that team that dominated the ball. Alotta plays he was being reduced to a spot up shooter.
That’s wild to be in a spot like that the man in high school. Not good enough in college, then not good enough for the NBA what do you do in a situation like that?
Does him going to Duke really make a difference as to why he did not pan out as a pro? It’s not like Duke caused him to have a bad jump shot or broke him as a player in his one year. If he went to another school and stayed longer, the NBA would have eventually discovered his game doesn’t translate. If he was “held back” by Duke, he would have elevated himself from the G League by now.
The thing about the NBA is you better be ready to produce and carve out a role to help a team or your going to have a short career even if your drafted. Many of these young kids have been told they were great while they were growing up to a point they believe that they dont need to work hard on their game anymore and feel they are already NBA superstar talents......they never develope a good work ethic because they have listened to all the hype in high school they got....and I feel that is what has happened to this guy. He thought he could get by just on athletic ability alone like in high school and never put in the work to make his game a total game.
Didn't show that he could run a team, plus his lack of a jump shot really hurt Duval. Hard to make it in today's NBA if you can't shoot as an undersized PG. Also probably didn't help that he took shots at the Duke program on the way out.
Yeah, Crazy. I'm a die-hard Carolina Fan and l don't even remember this guy. And Carolina fans know Duke players and Duke Fans know UNC players. But l don't even remember him
If he had weaknesses they'd eventually get exposed that's not Duke's fault. I thought he should've stayed and worked on his game just like Jeremy Roach has been doing but the money be calling.
My HS class.. Duval is another victim of going to the wrong school. If he goes to a school like Cuse he could’ve been the guy and potentially got drafted in the first
2018 was the first year of paying some attention to the draft. I was flabbergasted on how he wasn’t picked at 2nd round and was surprised a guy like Jerome Robinson got drafted higher. It be sick if Duvall becomes like a late bloomer type situation.
They've now had multiple 5 Stars at dOoK who've gone undrafted. Everyone remembers the sure fire stars like Tatum and Zion. But forget the myriad of Top 25 kids who went there and either turned into busts, went deep in the 2nd round or were undrafted. A lot of 1st Round flops too.
Duke fans saw this coming. I truly do not understand why some dudes are in such a rush to get to the nba when it’s apparently they aren’t ready. Stay in college and develop. Pro hoops gives you such a small window to improve and there’s always someone hot on your trails to take your spot.
I feel like when Bagley came to Duke, he became fifth option on a stacked team. Also when I saw him when theybplayed Wake Forest he got benched in the second half after going 0 for 8 (aproximate) in the game.
@@justiceforjuicy6765 it was for him😂 & Bagley/Carter mostly played near the rim so the floor was never gonna be spaced enough for a guard like duval to be effective
Im not gone lie…even with all tht happened i still think he shoulda had more of a opportunity…teams dnt really want to develop players they want somebody who they can do a lil work with and they naturally get it…if he woulda hadda team who was willin to let him learn and develop in the NBA he would have more confidence n he woulda developed great…i think tha fact tht he dnt fit at Duke it dnt inly expose weaknesses it created some too…take away jus gary trent or grayson n i think it woulda been a whole different situation…plus i was nvr a big fan of marvin bagley jumpshot…i thought he shoulda jus been used inna PnR/P…in tha post…n when he did pop he woulda been jus in tha midrange…n i also feel like they shoulda let trey iso more with wendell onna opposite short corner n marv onna opposite elbow and they shift onna drive…he did mess up leavin early tha only way he shoulda left Duke shoulda been a transfer…moat likely was somebody in his ear not givin him tha real…unless he was tht big in his game…he prolly was also lied to about where hed prolly land…i dnt think he even shoulda went to a lesser school…Marvin comin late effected everything…and i think if he woulda had went to a kansas where theyre better at player development
The biggest reason he didn’t make it is because he is a point guard who can’t run a team. Not being able to shoot and poor defense was just icing on the cake. With that squad he should have averaged double digit assists. But when your only tool is a hammer ever problem looks like a nail.
At this point you can’t blame Duke.he just couldn’t shoot and not great vision . Should have stayed but his ego was too big from just being more athletic than any other HS players. In the league everyone is athletic
Shows just how perfectly the chips need to fall for some players to make the league. Who knows how different things would've worked out with just slight changes. Like what if he stays in college another year to work on his weaknesses, maybe he would be carving out a role in the league.
Blue is the hottest flame in the world. Then turns orange and then red. But when people wear blue for some reason people find it calming when it’s not. The first three teams he mentioned who have the best champ record what are their colors.
Imagine how painful it must be to be browsing basketball UA-cam then get a recommendation for Stunted Growth and see yourself on there. Hah, i bet there are players out there right now living in pure fear for the day their number gets called and they pop up on the dreaded list. The videos are never done with Malice and every player listed has so much to be praised and respected for, but you can’t help but want to avoid the title even though it’s not disrespectful , it’s just a reminder of personal shortcomings.
Some of these kids need to stay in school and further develop their skills because alot of these one and dones have shown to not be ready for the next level. Stop blaming the school and hold them responsible for their decisions to leave before they were ready!! No bias #justfacts

Repeating yourself 1,000 times to give the same facts to make this video 11 minutes long is incredible. I’m gunna slide a like for the effort.
ITS NOT TOO LATE FOR OHIO ST, SAN DIEGO STATE OR BOISE, OR LOYOLA TO COME THRU, THEY COULD USE THIS PLAYER HE'S GOT HEART !!
Gotta do one on Renardo Sidney…i still watch his highlights
Should’ve stayed another year. Would’ve been a leader on that Zion team and won a ship. Then would’ve been drafted high for sure
Can you do one on shariffe cooper or tremont waters.?
you saying if you can’t compete at duke and youll gonna be exposed for it is sooooooo true man
Can you do one on Renardo Sidney, Sean Banks from Memphis, Ronald Steele from Alabama, Pierre Pierce from Iowa, Josiah Turner from Arizona
Josiah turner and renardo Sydney are musts!
never change the music 😂🔥 its yo theme
idk where he at but, Trevor Dunbar, reminded me of him while watching this. Seventh Woods too
Didn't show that he could run a team, plus his lack of a jump shot really hurt Duval.
Hard to make it in today's NBA if you can't shoot as an undersized PG.
Also probably didn't help that he took shots at the Duke program on the way out.
Video 7 asking for an Isaiah Thomas stunted growth
Yeah, Crazy. I'm a die-hard Carolina Fan and l don't even remember this guy. And Carolina fans know Duke players and Duke Fans know UNC players. But l don't even remember him
Nice selection. I was a fan of his mixtape
He one those dudes that's caught up in 2k fantasy another thing if coach K give you advice you take it
If he had weaknesses they'd eventually get exposed that's not Duke's fault. I thought he should've stayed and worked on his game just like Jeremy Roach has been doing but the money be calling.
Your channel makes great videos man!
You should do a video on Billy Preston or Jaylen Hands
Dang I remember hearing bout this guy .
My HS class.. Duval is another victim of going to the wrong school. If he goes to a school like Cuse he could’ve been the guy and potentially got drafted in the first
Please do 90s wings like Lamont Murray, Eric williams, Walter Mcarty
You need to make that Rashad Phillips video flaming out
I saw him hooping in the Bronx this past Summer.
2018 was the first year of paying some attention to the draft. I was flabbergasted on how he wasn’t picked at 2nd round and was surprised a guy like Jerome Robinson got drafted higher. It be sick if Duvall becomes like a late bloomer type situation.
it’s pretty simple his hyper athleticism carried him through high school but in college his lack of skill got exposed
Mannnnn I can’t believe he ain’t pan out, I blame Marvin bagley for coming to Duke
Good 1. Yooo man u need to do Preston Shumpert or Kofi Cockburn next asap!!!!! How Kofi avg 20ppg. 9rbs n go undrafted. He playn n Japan WTF
The problem is these players think they’re one & done worthy… STAY IN SCHOOL! You’re not like that fr!
As a point guard being surrounded by that much talent should have amplified his play. 5th option is going to get a lot of open looks
Look what Book did off the bench in Kentucky
@@justiceforjuicy6765 doesn’t matter how open you are if you can’t shoot
@@micahbro2710 that duke team had Grayson Allen and Gary Trent jr… with Marvin bagley and Wendell carter as well… shot making wasn’t an issue
@@justiceforjuicy6765 it was for him😂 & Bagley/Carter mostly played near the rim so the floor was never gonna be spaced enough for a guard like duval to be effective
I was shocked he wasn't drafted not even the second round wow.
I always felt he was more of a Kentucky type player
You should also do martell Webster
The biggest reason he didn’t make it is because he is a point guard who can’t run a team. Not being able to shoot and poor defense was just icing on the cake. With that squad he should have averaged double digit assists. But when your only tool is a hammer ever problem looks like a nail.
It’s far from over for him he’ll be in the nba shortly and even if not he’s gonna profit from him craft and still is winning daily
At this point you can’t blame Duke.he just couldn’t shoot and not great vision . Should have stayed but his ego was too big from just being more athletic than any other HS players. In the league everyone is athletic
Do Kezo Brown from Chicago he used to play with Chase Adams
Shows just how perfectly the chips need to fall for some players to make the league. Who knows how different things would've worked out with just slight changes. Like what if he stays in college another year to work on his weaknesses, maybe he would be carving out a role in the league.
I still wish he would’ve stayed in college one more season
His village wasn’t strong enough…bad advice. When the game comes to you so easy, you may not think you have to work as hard
Ja Morant and trevon was in the same class 1 was the top pg the other had 1 offer and didn’t even have a player profile on any recruiting website 💀
Blue is the hottest flame in the world. Then turns orange and then red.
But when people wear blue for some reason people find it calming when it’s not.
The first three teams he mentioned who have the best champ record what are their colors.
Do one for Patrick McCaw
What happened to AJ Price?
Bro was deemed as a Kyrie/Drose hybrid lol
Do one on Tory Jackson and deiondre Hulett
