    Stunted Rule #3: if you're an undersized athletic guard - LEARN HOW TO SHOOT!

    His jumpshot is the key reason he isn’t at least on a permanent roster. Everything else offensively is obviously good for a pg. Not being a threat from 3 is basically a death sentence for his size. When you think of the short point guards in the league with similar skill sets they are usually above average shooters that can’t be left open.

    One thing worth mentioning is how awful he played in summer league after his first year in the League. Here's a chance for a kid who's been in the G League to come in and show his team, and other teams, that he's about that work and his shot is fixed and he can smash your lottery picks.
    So what does he do? Comes in out of shape and is totally unplayable - under 20% FG, almost 3 TOs/gm. He got waived right after that.

    I would bet money he finds an NBA team. The timing has just been off for him so far. I can see him being this era's Nick Van Exel. When he finds the right team that can let him come in as their third PG, he will work his way up to 6th man in 2 to 3 years.

    The issue is what worked at the high school or college level don’t translate to the NBA. When you go up against players both bigger, stronger and faster than you, a smaller guard needs to rely on long range scoring a lot more. Every successful guard his size either is freakishly athletic (Ja Morant) or has a really good jumpshot (Trae, Curry etc..). His below average three point percentages and inability to penetrate NBA level defenses and his lack of adaptation was his downfall.

    I agree and disagree at the same time with him leaving Auburn. Agreed it was early for him but I feel a lot of players leave early because they are forced to weather it because of new Freshman recruits coming in or because the NBA has gotten to a point where it’s almost frowned upon the longer you stay. Even if you go on to have a better season you could drop in the draft simply because you aren’t the exciting freshman. This past draft 14 Freshman drafted in the first round and that’s not including Vic, Scoot, or Thompson twins. Compared to 3 sophomores. Once again I’m not saying I disagree with you because I think he absolutely would’ve benefited but I think some of these kids deserve a little leash considering the point I made above.

    • @thestylemind4922
      @thestylemind4922 11 місяців тому +1

      @@johndavis9321 the issue is he didn’t improve in the NBA either so if he didn’t improve on the NBA level, he probably wasn’t going to improve as a sophomore and would have gotten exposed. His jumper was way too slow and unorthodox. Lonzo and Melo have unorthodox jumpshots but they were naturally good shooters to begin with plus they’re 6’6”+ and have quick releases. Sharife had none of that going for him. His stock was high off his UA-cam hype and his somewhat stellar first year at Auburn. I say somewhat stellar because he was able to freelance the whole year and the offense was catered to him because they didn’t have any other playmakers. Those stats were inflated. Had he stayed, his numbers would have decreased and his shooting percentage would have been somewhat similar = Undrafted.

    As a Heat Fan, they just drafter JJJ. He’s older than most players but him staying in college helped him develop moreso. These kids need to chill out sometime!

  • @satanicskater8136
    @satanicskater8136 11 місяців тому +1

    But in your other video (i forgot who the player is) dude didn't make it to the NBA and you said he should declare for the draft after 1 year in college, basically take the opportunity when it present.
    But now it's completely opposite? So which one is the correct decision. Leaving early or staying? U can't go both way lol

  • @Stoneygreat
    @Stoneygreat 11 місяців тому +1

    People tried to argue with me about this when he was coming in. This dude small and never could shoot. He came out of College to early. He should have stayed and developed his game and body.

    • @Thatbul
      @Thatbul 11 місяців тому

      Staying probably wouldn’t have done nothing also. The longer you stay, the more likely your draft stock to drop if you was already a projected first round pick.

    If a division 1 school gives a recruit a guaranteed 4-year scholarship how does that make the school greedy? Let's say it's the University of Michigan, which is $70,000 a year for a student to attend. A basketball player could blow out his knee and ruin his career in the first game but the college still owes him a top flight education.
    When these young players listen to the wrong advice and jump into the draft then that's their own personal decision and with that comes personal responsibility if you don't get drafted.

  • @Sin-rj9rf

    Playing only those 12 games inflated his stats and made his shooting percentage look fixable in that short stint stayin another year with his low 3 pt percentage and being undersized would have not made him a better prospect. it would have exposed his inability to shoot
