That accenting one every 7 notes 25/16 groove is actually really cool.
Thanks! It was fun to create it
I am not a drummer, but I can see that there is something valuable for drummers here. In fact, it's not just for drummers, but for those trying to learn music. I appreciate it.
Yes, I think you are right. I hope this video is giving an idea and a practical demonstration about irrational time signatures, also maybe inspire someone to learn and use them.
never really understood how these work but this helped me understand, i love all sort of time signature weirdness so hopefully ill be confident enough to play in an irrational time signature soon
Nice! I'm happy to be helpful
I will stick to the classic odd meters and odd groupings. Thanks though, you are quite jaw dropping as a drummer. Have a good day!
Thanks! Yes with odd meters and groupings there is so much to do already 😄(and so much to master!)
The things you are doing are rare like very very rare... I am into this thing for over 2 years now its a whole new world .. irrational signature exists but no one talks about it .. the world of tuplets are fascinating as hell...
But the reason why people dont talk about irrational signature is the fact that it can not exist independently without a rational bar .. for instance you have to have a base click on which you are doing the modulations.. and if you just minimalize the jerk of every odd notes by doubling the top even if its irrational without a base click it will just sound like a normal signature... So people will just stick to modulations...
However orchestra peeps doing this for centuries
Yes, depending on the time signature context they can be the best solution
Hey fam. I figured to minimize the jerk nesting it is the best solution simple hertas or sticking can do wonders... Love from India. I hope you are doing great and irrationalising on the kit. Happy drumming ❤️
Thanks for sharing your knowledge
My pleasure
It seems Brian Krock's prediction of irrational time signatures becoming more common has (kinda) come true!
Can you please to a drum difficulty level for ginger baker he is my favorite drummer!
He's in my list, I'll do a video about him, I don't know when I will
Abstract math metrics - hope the hype of odd time signatures/prog music comes to an end :-)
😄
It's not just prog music. Actually Thomas Adés popularised the "irrational" time signatures in his 1997 piece Asyla, and the practice has spread everywhere now.... Jazz, Math Rock and classical music are taking that technique forward. You can't stop progress!!!
19/16 never dies! 🫡🫡🦅🦅🦅💥💥💥
Why does traditional music theory make it so confusing why not just say how many beats there are in the bar like instead of writing a 8/12 time signature you can just say that there are 8/3 beats in the bar.
Interesting, so in your idea 8 is the number of beats and 3 is the subdivision?
@@Pietro.Valente no 8/3 is the number of beats in the bar I can write it like 2 2/3 instead
@@wizard1370 ok, I got it, it may work but you don't have a clue about the bar subdivision in this way.
@@Pietro.Valente if I have x beats per bar I can just put 1/x and that'll give me what the subdivisions look like. 5 beats per bar means the bar is subdivided with distances between them of 1/5 bars
@@wizard1370 ok so the 8/3 would look like 8/3/3?
