While you are shopping... I have not noticed any floor clocks in your plans, some of the ones shaped like banjos (I think from the same era) would be nice. Also some music items (old Victrolas, with old records) or are they too costly? Music boxes... You will need some of that sort of thing to put on tables and in cabinets. just my 2 cents (and a hug!)

I seem to have had a Brocant weekend even though I live in UK. Billie, Phil & Angeline who I know you are aware of also went Antique hunting on Sunday. Some of the places were just as awful. The embroidery that you've received is a small copy of the most famous tapestry "The Lady and the Unicorn" (La Dame a la Licorne). It was done in a style the "mille-fleurs" after "thousand flowers" that decorate the background. The original tapestries of the kind were created in 15th centuries in the Loire valley for the chateaux of the most powerful nobles. The original tapestry consist of 6 panels depicting a lady and the unicorn. Your embroidery shows "A Mon Seul Dessir" (Only at my will) panel depicting a lady returning a necklace to the box, held by her servant. The original tapestry was discovered in the castle of Boussac by the French writer George Sand in 19th century. It was woven in 1490 for the wealthy merchant Jean Le Vistle to celebrate one of his appointments. France has some wonderful Brocante to dig through, it can be a little overwhelming. There are jewels to be found, but most of the time they are buried under a pile of the most ghastly junk. For your purposes with fitting out the Chateau, it might be helpful to find a specific period for each room. As just a example, say the 1830-40's (Louis Phillipe period) right about when the Chateau would have been in it's heyday, and focus on that theme overall. Not to say that there isn't always a lot of mixing and matching of periods, but it might help things to look more cohesive if you chose a general style to work off of. I love watching all of you, all the effort everyone gives, and how great things are looking. BTW here in Los Angeles, Ash is commonly seen as a sex symbol, when he speaks French.
