One of the reasons I watch these Chateau vlogs is not only the owners are the nicest people sharing their skills and help, but the viewers are also such nice people. It makes us all one big worldwiide family. Bless you all❤❤❤😂😂😂
The abandoned house is absolutely stunning and the facade looks in great shape. I hope Rob goes for it. He could convert the outbuildings into gites for additional income.
That abandon house is truly amazing and Rob you must investigate more. Would love to see brought back to life by someone who would treasure it. Thank you Terry for taking us through the brocante, such a treat.
Yes, I’d keep it wood colour but add gilding wax to highlight the mouldings. It would work well then with the brass wall lights. You could also add gilding wax highlights to the other wooden furniture to tie it all in.
PLEASE!!!Somebody buy that abandoned house! It’s gorgeous. The gate alone is indescribably beautiful. Thanks for sharing. The mirror looks great.May be a little darker stain will look better.❤👍
The trunk is a wedding trunk, used by a newly married lady to keep her new linens and clothes. They are lovely at the foot of a bed to keep extra blankets and such.
I’ve been to this same brocante and I shared a video of it as well. They have beautiful pieces of furniture, decor, and chandeliers. I love the French trumeau mirror that you purchased! It’s perfect above the fireplace mantle.⚜️
That was a fantastic video. I loved the brocate it was so exciting. I would paint the mirror the light blue because you have lots of natural wood in the Chateau that this would add a new dimension to the room. The linen box would look great at the end of a bed, it could hold extra quilts for cool evenings and also be used as a seat.
Oh Terry, the mirror is a little work of art. The wood is so beautiful, personally I think painting it would hide some of its beauty and incredible age. You paint a old piece of pine, this mirror is no piece of pine. Give it a good polish and wax and it will forever thank you. xxxalex
Oh good! I feel the same, polish it up, and enjoy that beautiful wood grain. I also like the idea of gilding the light fixtures, love how gracious and dignified the the carved wood scones are. Terry will bring it to life!
Rob, this is such a gem, and close to your lovely Lalacelle family. Go and explore and let the building and it’s surroundings speak to you.The building will find you, always! ❤❤❤
I loved the mirror the first time you saw it, so I’m so happy you were able to purchase it. I think in my mind I spent more than $20,000 at the brocante! Those chandeliers (Carole would love them) are stunning, and the furniture is so beautiful. I think that house is perfect for Rob and those gates are spectacular. I wonder what the price is. Rob is such a great man. He’s always smiling, soft spoken and a hard worker. I hope he can be your neighbor. Beautiful music in todays video. Thank you and hugs. xx
I think the mirror would look better in a natural wood stain. It's so cool how all the chateau owners know each other and help each other out when they're looking for certain pieces!
Whatever you do will be nice, but I always prefer the natural wood whether light or dark to paint. Also, thanks for posting the go fund me. I’m a retired teacher, so Jonathan’s school needs are very dear to me. It looks like the fundraiser will exceed the goal which is awesome.
Thank you Joanna. And thank you for your donation! It’s an amazing school and the help they have given us in settling Jonathan here, it’s the least we could do for them 😊😊
You should go see Stephane Bruneau in Laval, that's where Billy Petherick buys all his good pieces. Stephane is a friend and has sold me most of my treasures, no room for more. He recently gave me two antique washbasins on legs from an old bank along with 20 metres of gorgeous wool 'oriental' carpet runner. Last year he found me a small Chinoiserie desk for a guest room, his prices are great and he is a lovely person.
I already donated (although under my real name). It's such a great cause. Kids need schools where they love to go to. And I'm glad that you addressed the outrages percentage UA-cam takes from chat donations. Most people who give something out of the goodness of their hearts don't know.
So many beautiful antiques. I would have a hard time not overextending my budget. The mirror is beautiful. I would do the wood in a darker color. It will look amazing.
My vote is for the darker wood wax. Paint would look fine too, but it’s pretty a permanent decision without a lot of work to restore. Because of the distressed mirror and old painting, the dark wood seems more compatible than a shockingly fresh paint job.
Nice to see everything progressing, love the mirror, good choice.I hope Rob buys the château,it's quite impressive, beautiful big gates, many out buildings, can't wait to see what happens.😊
Hi everyone, Always love Brocant shopping with you Terry, so happy you managed to buy the Trumeau mirror, for a fantastic price. I wouldn’t paint it,or take off the carved sconces Terry ! I don’t think, you can ever have enough decorative pieces for a chateau! OMG 😱 the linen trunk is a stunning statement piece, perfect at the foot of a bed 🛏️! Take care lots of love 🥰💖
Love the trumeau mirror. I would suggest you leave the original sconces on it and simply gild them instead of replacing them. Alternatively, you can use a gilding wax for a softer look. Carole can offer some direction too, with all her experience.
Absolutely! Some artisan long ago carved them so beautifully and their style matches the piece as a whole. I wouldn't stain it much darker at all. The cherry stain is lovely. Perhaps look for furniture to match the trumeau mirror?
Hi Terry, Ash , Tracey and Jonathan ,Going to have to watch this later as I am out this evening with the hubby, I have sent £20 to the go fund me page for Jonathan's school from hubby he said quote " tell them thank you for their videos , cos when you watch them it gives me a bit of peace and quiet " cheeky hubby, I don't know what he is on about , much love to all at the Chateau xxxxxxxx
Terry, I think the mirror will look lovely in the dark wood, I'm so glad you were able to get it and at a great price. The Brocante you guys were at has soo many gorgeous items, the linen trunk was amazing, I also seen a table that I would love to have, unfortunately I'm much too far away😮💨 The abandoned property looks in great shape from the shown views and the gate is beautifully elaborate, nice spot for Rob!😉 It's beyond wonderful what 'all are doing for the school!💓
Hi Tracy, Terry & Ash, Glad to follow you brocante shopping once again. The trumeau that you bought is perfect for the 400 Suite. A piece like that should remain as it is in the natural wood with a good cleaning and waxing to bring out it's natural beauty. Painting it would only cover up what it was meant look like originally. Let Carole know where you saw all those gorgeous crystal chandeliers, she needs one for the Chateau hallway. Mark & Scott
I had no idea Rob was looking to relocate. How fab it would be to have such a good friend so nearby. I hope that house really does suit him. As for the mirror it is fantastic. Please, PLEASE, don’t paint it. Bring it back to its natural wood or stain it to match the other dark wood furniture in the room. Painting it would be sacrilege! As a matter of fact what can be done about the foxing on the mirror itself? To replace it with new mirror clearly is inappropriate but is it possible to get the worst of the foxing removed and have it providing a good reflection? It’s all getting so exciting now, all the fun is starting after all the hard graft of providing all the good foundations to the rooms. Things are going to progress quickly from now on. Best wishes to all the intrepid shoppers, you have no idea how envious I am of your brocantes, antiques here in Australia are few and far between and when you do find what you want it’s hideously expensive. Looking forward to the parade of chandeliers! Cheers from Neil inAustralia 🇦🇺
I’m sure Carole was looking for another one legged table that props up against the wall. Did you tell her about the one you saw at this brocante? Love your channel and your family. X
I have found you again .I saw you when you all first arrived at your Chateau and I also remember a Christmas one you had ,but I think I saw so many new Chateaux that I got lost ,but I am so pleased to catch up with all of you again .I love what you have been doing so far as I have just watched the 2 year one ..I also love how you all work together .So I look forward now to follow you on your journey .You all have amazing skills .Love Johnathon he is learning so many skills .
Third times the charm, Terry. You've got your mirror and with a nice discount. Ash, you cheeky devil...you got to keep 12 hours of your life brocante free...hee hee hee! You're both winners!
I'd bet that you can bring that picture in the mirror back to life with just a bit of distilled water and some cotton swabs. However that might be, though, it's unbelievable to see the 400 suite coming together!
Nice finds, what selection to choose from, lucky you! When you asked about paint, not sure if it is the French in me, I see blue grey, wash paint or stain. It can be a nice neutral, with a feel of age. You know best with all the elements you will be combining. It would be cool if Rob got the house 😊
Hey all! Hope everyone is well!!! So much going on!! Helping a school with all you have going on is very commendable!! The abandoned house looks so lovely from the outside. Looks in better condition than your chateau when you purchase it. Your chateau is looking so so beautiful. Thanks for sharing your lifestyle and story. I sometimes feel bad sitting around watching you all work so very hard 😊
You should protect your paintings from further damage with Winsor and newton artists aerosols gloss varnish. It will prevent further discoloration, moisture, dirt, and damage from UV rays. It was suggested to me for an old painting by anyone famous but is till old and stunning.
Oh my goodness how wonderful if Rob bought a property close to you guys!! Gosh so exciting!!! I’ve convinced my hubby we should take a road trip thru France with our little puggies next year!! Whooo hooooo!!! Loved the walk about thru the Brocante! ❤️ thank you for sharing your boys day out!! ❤️
I grinned from the moment Terry opened up the back of the car until "bye"... both your happy smiles make the world a better place 🥰xx Thank you for being you. 🙏
I say just wax the natural timber of the mirror and after if you’re not happy you can always stain it darker. Cos other way around it’s more complicated 😉
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Thank you Terry, you do a wonderful job of showing antiques. I felt I was there with you in the Brocante. More of these, please. 🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥The mirror is fantastic. 🪞🪞🪞🪞🪞🪞Can’t wait to see how you restore it. 💜💙💚💛🧡❤️💜💙💚💛🧡❤️💜💙💚💛🧡❤️. 😍👍😉
The mirror would be lovely with a darker stain Would also love to see the pretty painted scene restored Maybe investigate how to remove the dirt without damaging the paint?
Oh, this was a fun adventure! I love the mirror, and was so happy to see it still there. My heart is a little set on that first wardrobe, with the amazing woodwork. And that abandoned house with those stunning gates was so enticing. A more in-depth look would be lovely, especially if Rob is in the market for an intriguing place of his own!

Очень точно подмечено❤
Couldn't agree with you more, I watch the videos in the morning, it's the best way to start a day with a smile on your face.
I agree Becky! I think everyone, the world over, needs proof that there are still nice people out there....
Rob would be an outstanding neighbor!
The abandoned house is absolutely stunning and the facade looks in great shape.
I hope Rob goes for it.
He could convert the outbuildings into gites for additional income.
You never know!! 😊
Hooray! I’m so glad Terry scored his mirrror! It will look lovely in the chateau. So many chandeliers to look at- Carol would be in heaven!
Thanks Rita 😊
That abandon house is truly amazing and Rob you must investigate more. Would love to see brought back to life by someone who would treasure it. Thank you Terry for taking us through the brocante, such a treat.
Thanks Claudette. Am sure it’s not the last time we will see it 😊😊
@@ashleywaters7198 That’s exciting news 😃. Rob seemed to be in awe when he first saw the house, can’t blame him as it is stunning.
Personally, I would keep it wood colour. I can’t wait to see what you decide. 🥰🎶❤️ That home looks so perfect--for Rob!!! 😎❤️🥰
Yes, I’d keep it wood colour but add gilding wax to highlight the mouldings. It would work well then with the brass wall lights. You could also add gilding wax highlights to the other wooden furniture to tie it all in.
Absolutely love Rob, he is so positive and supportive, and always with a happy smile. Makes viewing so much better when he is with you all.

Rob, that abandoned house has your name written all over it! You could start a channel and we would all watch you restore it to its former glory. 🙏
A special house for a special person , perfect for Rob.
Thank you 😊
My Rob!
Adrian and Carole are looking for a big chandelier! That one is stunning!
Thank you 🙏 😊

We will :) 😊😊
I am sooo glad you finally got that mirror Terry! Thanks for including us on your shopping trip!
Very inspiring
Yes. Buy it!!
That abandoned house is beautiful. Rob, you can definitely take that on!!
I Love how happy Chandeliers make Terry 😊 and I bet Terry looked just like Johnathan when he was a little boy 😊
They look like they could have been twins!! 😊

Rob, Theres something special about that houses personality . It really suits you. So hope its not a wreck inside !
I think the purpleish color on the crystal is from a bit of magnesium in the glass. It is seen in some of the old canning jars also.

Absolutely love that painting / mirror ❤
That mirror at 3:50 would be nice in the bathroom to hang bathrobes on, you could attach a shelf for jewelry. Or a butler chair for the same reasons.
I would keep that beautiful mirror the wood color. Just gorgeous! ♥️♥️♥️
Thanks Cynthia 😊
Call Carole and let her know you found a nice chandelier, lol! Enjoyed the day out with you gentlemen, thanks for sharing.
Ash has an eye for good things. Hang in there. There will come a day when most anything you want will be yours. Bon chance!
Oh the chandelier at 12.58! Carol at Chateau de La😊❤ Ferte!

you could put a cushion (with piping) on top of the box and use it for storage of linens for airBnB
Keep the wooden sconces Terry, they are beautiful. As you said just put on gold leaves ❤
Yes, I agree. It also retains the value of the item with the original sconces.
The cream mirror with the portrait, would look beautiful in the 400 suite.

I was wondering that as well🤔
Keep the mirror as a natural wood.
Oh! I totally loved the Chandelier that looked like it had grapes of all colors on it! What would that one cost I wonder!
I would love to see that mirror in the dusty blue.. great price and it is pretty!
Keep it the natural wood it’s in a beautiful shape and authentic

I vote for no paint on the trumeau! It will lose all its warmth and history….love your videos ! Sherry/Illinois
I meant Brocanting in my previous comment 😂 Love the Mirror what a great piece Terry 👍
