I notice that many survivors of cult exploitation are very sweet kind socially conscious people. they are people who care about making a better world. They are people with lots of empathy. And with lots of empathy comes a blurring between the lines of self and other. when your gut is telling you to say no, it knows best. No other person should be able to intrude upon that and change it. Steven I bet you are still healing from all you've been through. With time self-assurance will grow and you will be the number one person that you trust in every situation.

Puppy Alex Steven, let them down - they will get over it. In order for you to feel lifted up, sometimes you have to say NO. They will find someone else.

Fairy Guinevere hahaha I notice this too, but also PATIENCE, I mean wow. He will say we went back and forth like that for an hour or hour and a half. I'm like what?!? They would of had 5 min, after 5 min they could keep talking until I get to my car but they will have to follow me.
It's clear to see why they hate psychologists. I would of told them they are claiming I am unable to face the paperwork...prove it, it's your claim to prove, not mine to disprove.

Anything after the first 'no' is just coercion - you could fight it in court. They don't have many people joining anymore, so they have to work damn hard on the people already in $cientology. Too bad - it sounds like most people are kind people who want to do their part to help the world.

Thanks for sharing Steven. This is typical staff recruitment behavior. I can't count the number of multi-hour efforts to get me to join staff I had to endure over the years. It is exhausting, especially when 4 people have you cornered. I wish someone would secretly video some of these recruitment efforts. People would be shocked to really see how intensely they go after you, pounding on your "help" button. Looking forward to seeing your Sea Org recruitment experience video.

well delivered Steven, and all I will say to you in regards to this is take a bow, you were amazing to maintain your strength throughout it all, despite their promises. And take credit in the fact that it took them 10 hours to get a signature off you in the first instance. You continue to heal my good man, and continue to share your stories, talking does help. Best of luck.

Hi Steve. Good job with the videos. I just read your bio and it reminded me of an experience I had with Scientology. A few years ago, I was working at the production offices down the street from 'The Way To Happiness' office in Glendale. I had no idea at the time that it was a front for Scientology. I did know, however, that Scientology was a cult. One day I was walking back to the office with a co-worker after lunch and they came up to me and asked me to model for their advertising materials. I thought there was no harm in it and it sounded like fun. I went in and they made me sign something and they took some photos with me and others pretending to be interested in their facility. It was only after it was done that I realized the organization was linked to Scientology. I though, "Oh shit! I don't want to be a part of this in any way!' They offered me some books (one was dianetics, that's how I knew it was Scientology) and I said, "No thanks." I'm surprised they didn't push harder and let me go. I wanted to ask them not to use my photos but since I had already signed the release form I just let it go. I think to this day I am on the website but you can't see my face. Now that I read your bio I realize I may be in the booklets too. Creeps me out!

Steven you were the nornal regular POLITE GUY. and your "recruiters" usually would have hesistated to use such lame, intrusive, pathetic schemes on you. - BUT human relationships and family are not as important as "church". So what does it matter that the recruiters repell a lot of people that would otherwise (at least for some time) have a good opinion on the "church" and the recruiters ?
What does it matter that there will be embarrassing and awkward situations ? That many people will have a falling out (like you liking some of the guys but when they start pestering you you started to avoid them) ? - If the recruiters work through a LOT of very awkward situations they will end up with a FEW "successes" - and these folks are practically selling themselves into slavery in exchange for a "bridge to the rainbow".
So the "church" (read top management, David Miscavige and maybe a few other people) can easily resign themselves to the fact count that the recruiters and registrars (sales people) will have to use up a lot of goodwill and discard a lot of prospects until they find the one guy or gal that can be coerced to work for free or sign on to the next course.
Once they have a person MORE in their environment (at work or in their courses) they can work the magic of brainwashing on them. The more a person is sucked in, the better their chances are to KEEP a person under the spell.
The recruiters and the middle management pushing them mercilessly are equally brainwashed - and there is ENORMOUS pressure on them to meet their targets - plus the "anything goes - it is for saving the planet after all" attitude gives the recruiters and sales people the necessary moral cover to be RUTHLESS. Not that I think they want to be a nuisance to other people and want to be ruthless - these well-intentioned folks wouldn't do half of the things when they were selling used cars - but in that context all restrictions of politeness, of not making a fool of yourself, of respecting boundaries and an No go are negated - they are trained by the cult to disregard all those natural reservations.
For a registrar it would be an extreme weakness if he would "accept" the "excuse" that a person cannot afford a training. When they have college fund to plunder, a relative they could ask for a loan or a house on which to take ANOTHER mortgage or a credit card with STILL some credit - they have to be RUTHLESS. Showing sympathy - of course you do not want to go further into debt. Leah Remini talked about that (I think it was in the 2nd season. Scientology and the money). Also the late Sy Levy 2nd best selling registrar in flag (brining in around 10 million USD per year, his record was 15 millions) said that someone listened in on such conversations. If he wasn't ruthless enough or didn't use the right arguments.

You were so young and I've been watching your videos and I feel like when you were young in school and bullied then when you went to Cali it sounds like right after graduation. I feel horrible that they had you the minute you went to that first 20 buck thing, I remember the minute my daughter graduated the credit card apps were in the mail and she got 2 and one was quite a bit so you being with these take no for an answer fucks!!! Honestly I'm glad your husband came into your life when he did. If they need money why not have the stars give them this money they want? I know, getting to credit card debt. My daughter maxed them right away and not that great of a part time job cause she was in school as well and living with me but I've been disabled and I had zero money to help her but eventually she got them paid off. I'm saying credit card companies are jerks going for young kids and poor you and these freaks. I'm a wicked witch when I see people fucked with!!! I'm just saying I've been watching all your videos and then leah reminis dad ad from Scientology really pisses me off while I'm watching ur vids. I'd say others would see through it very quickly as a hard emotional pressure based sales technique and the tactic would actually drive people who are pretty together well away... lots of beaming as you say... got a similar treatment after doing on course on a just having a look, no interest in joining and told the course was stand alone and not part of anything else, just a self improvement course... but it included divulging "overts" for future auditing, so clearly that is not a stand alone course, I was told the course was not faith based and I shoudl do it and see if it worked.. but when I finished suddenly that changed and going straight to another course and not testing it, my number given to a recruiter... tour given, lots a flattery, three people focusing on me, one asking in jolly tone "has I said yes yet.. and I was smart so I would of course" , ... totally unethical, and then the contract of belief in things about Scientology I could not sign honestly as i had no where near the knowledge to do so.. even if I wanted to, the 2,5 -5 year contract etc. as you have seen yourself steven... this is after doing one course which I was told had no commitment and was separate .... anyone who's been about, with a bit of world experience would see right through it.. unless in a vulnerable state.. so blatant. The make you feel like a special one thing is common it seems. .. this was a couple of months after I started my course and about a week or two after I finished it.
The material they have, is pretty good advice, lots from other philosophies and religions...
You experience sound very like mine.. it's funny how they downplay the contract, but still play it up... and it is dishonest to sign something you don't believe or can't due to lack of knowledge....
man... I'd say let it go, don't let this experience take up so much of your mind, you have given a warning, done you bit... if you put to much time on it, it will harm you.
    All the best from Ireland.

holy fuck man... they really went to town on you.... thank God they don't have many people in their NATIONAL AFFAIRS OFFICE OF IRELAND here in Ireland. These people doing it, what are they thinking? they are aware they are using unethical methods to get you to join... while claiming to be ethical promoter and ethically based in a serious way. How do they square this in their heads.. if they are unethical and know they are running a scam, ok, but I get the feeling they think they are ethical and moral people helping...
The woman recruiter called the head hancho, the leader of the UK operation, sir.. and in a weird way, you don't usually get that hierarchy language except in a military or similar set up...
I've watched a few videos, most seem to be hit pieces with made up stuff, just hopping on the bandwagon of attacking Scientology... your story resonates with mine big time... you got it bigger and "better" though, but after a longer time... they hadn't the same amount of people for me, three people basically, including the head for the UK and Ireland, it was funny, he said he didn't usually talk to those on my level, in a nice way, but I think i was supposed to feel honored lol also, I had done one course... so the stuff on the form was absurd to even present to me... leaving aside the fact I had taken this course on a "I'm just doing the course" understanding.
How can people who believe they are doing good, engage in this? how can they talk about "overts" and honesty, and use dishonest methods?
I don't think they will do well in Dublin, they are setting up an ideal church here, to be done in 8 months, with no basic church here at all. Perhaps I should do a video too... a few non exaggerated experiences by people like yourself and myself, who have nothing to gain from exposing tactics, could help.. but I would not get into covering them beyond my own experience and maybe posting the documents to become staff I have and that other form. .. stuff by celebs and the like is worthless, they get publicity etc for "exposing" them....
You know, the thing that hit me, was their pitch, their tactics were so overtly con tricks and scam oriented, they lacked skill in a con... it was like being in a parody of a recruitment, their pitch, would make people say no.... also, they are too American in style, is seems cheesy and weak, ham fisted... and the video material is awful, from an Irish perspective.. and after we got rid of the catholic church, and church trying to bully will be shown the door... social justice warrior bigots and the LGBT are the new bullies on the block and they go for anyone who doesn't fully support them... they love attacking people, if the LGBT see them as being homophobic (there was a gay man at an important level in their Dublin office) they will go to town on them.. the LGBt, here anyway, is a powerful hate group, and they have had to make up things to rail about and attack people who have non conforming views.... also, the american style will fuck them up, they will seem like Mormons, who are at least open and pretty chilled out, and honest...
... can you PM me, I'll scam my forms so you can see them and we can compare. I think they will be recruiting people too quick, as they did with me, and it won't work... but to insure people are ready for the love bombing and tactics, some leaflets being handed out could do the trick.
I haven't seen many videos like yours, do you know many other people with this experience? call it, the standard scam. There are too many people cashing in n the "attack sceintology bandwagon" saw Hubbard's grandson, a moronic tourist looking for chicks and free beer... their recruiting tactics being shown up, show up the rest... no decent group recruits this way.

I'd stay away from theroux... his jimmy saville connection and now trying to rationalize and sanitize his and others complicity make him a low life... not to be trusted.

You use the word "like" constantly. If you plan to make money on videos then you need to make sure you're watchable.

I think you assumption that he is doing this 'to make money' is an error, and is more of an insight into what your values are, than his. Good day

First of all, I never said there was anything wrong with making money
(that assumption speaks to YOUR values). As a public speaker, I gave him a tip that all speakers learn if they want to keep the attention of an audience. How long do YOU listen to a speaker that says "um..um..um...between words or "like..like..like..? Studies prove people are turned off by those tics.
Secondly he asked for donations to repair his camera and another video about how Scientology bankrupted him and all his extensive debt. He also stated that he would like people to contact him to file a class action suit. So if he wants to be successful in these FINANCIAL or VIDEO endeavors then he needs to learn to speak without the idiocincracies that people find annoying. Common Sense.
