This show really took the “Oh no! Anyway” route with Katharine’s death. In reality, while delirious with childbed fever, she insulted her husband repeatedly and accused him of tormenting her. Her last words were how she hated him. Now THAT would have been satisfying to see.
I feel so bad for Queen Catherine. She married four times and never found her true love. The first two were arranged by her parents and then she had to wed a King who was a literal tyrant who could kill her at any moment. Then, she finally felt like she could be happy with Thomas since she loved him so very deeply, but he never cared about her at all. In real life, he wasn’t even fazed at his wife’s death. She deserved a proper husband who could love and take care of her. RIP Queen Catherine Parr, you were a great wife for many.
At first I considered this bad writing having her die so suddenly , then I saw house of the dragons horrific birthing scene and I am okay with this now👍
@@Lily1127channel I know, I had a c-section and almost bled out, then caught a fever and had water in the lungs, if not for modern medicine I would have suffered the same fate as Queen Catherine Parr and Queen Aemma from house of the dragon. Even with modern medical care I still almost didn't make it. Not berating you for your comment its valid and true, just Catherine's quick death is much easier for me to watch then Queen Aemma's horrific bloody death or queen Jane Seymours slow painful death in the show Tudors, knowing how easily that could have been me.
Catherine Parr didn't die suddenly. She had childbed fever. That wasn't a quick death. She died the same way as Jane Seymour. House of Dragons is all about dramatics as was Game of thrones. And the more horrific, the better the ratings.
It's saddened that Katherine Parr died, but I also have sympathies for her baby daughter, Mary, as she never knew her parents very well, because they both died when she was very young and she was left an orphan💔 Never knowing who they were and what tragic fate had overcome them. It is possible that Mary died young as she disappeared in historical record at the age of two. It's a tragedy as she could have lived a longer life and perhaps a happy one unlike her parents. It is said that Katherine Parr haunts Sudeley Castle, the place where she gave birth and died. She is dressed in green and she is searching for something or someone and it may be possible that she is trying to find her daughter💔
@@jjh2456 it's supposed to be debated, cause some stories say she simply disappeared from history, others she died not long after birth, or as a toddler
That's not true. He may have been a nasty man, at least I believe so, but he DID mourn Catherine's death and some say that his erratic behavior for the months after she died was due to his grief. He was very tender and caring towards her during the end of her pregnancy (I think out of guilt over the situation with Elizabeth more than anything) and during the years that she was married to Henry he coule have gone for another marriage but he waited for her. He was a vile man but he loved that woman in his own way.

He is not bothered by it in the show either. Next scene is a full narcissistic speech from Thomas to his brother, than he goes on to propose to Elizabeth immediately. I would say that's equal to not bothering 😀
Actually he loved her both of them loved each other I'm reading Alison weirs books and I prefer books over TV shows and movies. Thomas Seymour was so desperate to maintain his status as the husband of a royal to the point where he even made overtures to Mary AND to Anne of Cleves!
Actually that would not have happened as she was around 10 when Edward died. It was not really a marriage that they were mentioning here, but a marriage treaty that was agreed to by both the rulers of Scotland and France. That treaty was signed in 1548, when Mary was 5 and the Dauphin was 4. The actual marriage took place on April 24, 1558 (10 years later), which was 4 years after Edward VI passed, and 7 months before Mary I passed. Around 9 months later Mary Scots between Queen Consort of France when her husband became King Francis II. There was talk of Jane Grey marrying Edward but by the time they became of age Edward was dying.
Oh he is NOT very bothered by her death in the show, believe me 😀😀😀 Maybe first he fears for his position a bit without Catherine, but he will propose to Elizabeth so soon that's more than disgusting.
Things somehow got worse for her after her death. I have no idea what problem people had with her, what precisely was their problem, in the 1600s (during the English Civil War) and late 1700s/early 1800s, she didn't hurt anyone. Seeing what people did to her was one of the rare moments that made me feel disgusted with humanity and ask WTF is wrong with people?

Honestly, it likely would have amounted to nothing. Edward died at 15. They wouldn't have been married long, if they even made it to the wedding.
It would have been a disaster. Edward was an evangelical Protestant, Mary a devout Catholic.
The Rough Wooing was Henry VIII’s marriage plans for Edward and Mary of Scots.
