The camera work and production really did this fine layout justice. I feel like I visited it in person. (Particularly liked the animated map w/red dot.) Thank you John Zach and TSGM for sharing this with us :)
Wonderful layout! It's neat to see a layout modeled on a region I'm familiar with. Some day I'll ride the Sierra Railroad's dinner train for a closer look.
Love the layout and the operations tour, it was really great. I would be interested in a more in-depth operations session showing the car card eystem, signaling, etc. Thank you for sharing your layout.
Peter, If you haven't already check my web site www.sierrarailroad55.com there is more information on the layout. Under the heading of Operations there are samples of the Waybills we were using. As of 2015 I have switched to the JMRI program to create Manifests and Switchlists. As a short line the Sierra did not have any signals. There is a timetable with scheduled meets between trains. When a question arises the operators will sort out the situation and if necessary I step in to resolve it. If you want more info or samples of the Manifests/Switchlists let me know. John
We had a podcast segment, a Chasing Trains! episode, and our Annual Steam Special from 2016 was about Railtown 1897, where the real No. 3 still operates.
This is one of my favorite TSG Layout tours.
That looks like a huge layout, I couldn't imagine working on a layout for that long.
It is very large, especially for a private layout. John's original primary goal was to have it operational, and it is!

Great job John! I have many fond memories of watching your train dream come alive.
Great layout John. Love your video.
Great video like always
Delightful! What an awesome layout!
Great tour! Really enjoyed watching the operations.

Thanks for stopping by, John!
Excellent video, just wish the trains were ran a little slower
We were a bit pressed for time, to be honest. I hope to go back some day to document part of an operating session.
Nice video as always, and nice layout too. Didn't you guys do some sort of video on the Real Sierra Number 3?

I used to live in Sonora and operate on John's layout . Will you do a video on Steve Hayes Western Pacific layout too?
We would like to do that when we get a chance.
Number 3 is un prototypical
