I remember listening to baseball games with my grandpa on this radio. We’d spend our summers at our grandparents lake cabin and this is all we had for electronic media. Grandparents are some of the best memories ever.
What a classic great looking radio, the analog tuning sounds great too. The old school Realistic radios always seem to perform well. I only have a couple of Radio Shack radios in my collection. You are right this radio would look great on display on a shelf. The classic 70’s and 80’s look is awesome plus very good reception. Thanks for sharing.
I received that radio as a gift in 1979. I remember enjoying the shortwave and FM radio reception. Living in Aurora, CO, I could pick up stations on the FM dial from Cheyenne, Wyoming fairly easily. A solid performing, good-looking radio, in any case :)
Years ago, I had one of those. R-S Analogs- It worked well -- Another good radio I had Was a " TELEFUNKEN" -( Late 1960's)- I wish I still Had it - It was a portable, Had really good Receive --
What? A thousand miles away? I have never tried that before with a portable radio. I will certainly try that out. I listen on a transceiver with a large vertical antenna but not able to direction find stations just like your plucking them out selectively like your doing. I love it.
Fantastic "Classic Radio"!,.. you know, no digital, but real analogic tuning ;-)) What a pity It lacks a practice.. and nice! red tuning indicator, "Magic Eye" .. or so !.. Thanks! todderbert for your time and nice videos.. Pedro, from North of Spain.
The AM oscillator trimmer on the tuner needs to be adjusted to get a station on 700 to show actually close to 700. All stations are too low on the dial. A very easy to do adjustment and unlike some other adjustments it won't ruin the alignment. Never adjust I.F. transformers unless you know what you're doing. But the trimmer capacitors on the tuners can be messed with without harm. I also used to adjust the RF trimmers on the tuners to peak in the middle of the band for AM. Tune to a station about 900 on the dial and peak it for loudest reception.
no, unfortunately the frequency of the Terk is limited to the Broadcast AM Band. You can upgrade your police scanner's antenna with a quarter wave or better.

My grandpa used to listen to Red Sox baseball on this model radio while sitting in his screen porch. I miss you, grandpa.

Decent old SW-60. Great audio, good reception love the pure analog goodness. Thanks Todd!

I had something similar when I was in my teens. It was a Realistic Astronaut 4 band radio. I even had an outdoor antenna for it.
Excellent radio. Old school Radio Shack rules. I had the same radio back in high school ( early 80's ) . 👍
External antenna connector is Motorola type, more for VHF and UHF bands ( common to vintage scanners ).

Hej Todderbert thanks for the bandscan and a very nice Patrolman radio and all in silver color love it take care and have a nice wednesday.
My first shortwave-multi-band radio. Before my DX-440. Loved it. WRNO & KUSW in 1987. HCJB's dx partyline. Memories...

Have fun!
I have a tecsun pl 660 and using it with a an 200.Though pl 660 has a good reputation regarding medium wave, and with an 200 it is just awesome.
This was my first shortwave radio back in 1989 when I was a high school freshman.

I had this radio as teenager in the eighties
I have one now.

You may hear a soft hiss on the UHF band. This occurs because DTV stations are on this band now.

Saw this radio in the movie ford vs Ferrari and got here
Cool old radio!
I have one of these. It needs an antenna and the volume button is wonky. Can't wait fix it and put it to use
Very cool!
Looks like a Motorola connector, a.k.a. a "car radio antenna" connector.
Correct
9:09 can you use the terk antenna on a police scanner?

@@todderbert Thank You
Motorola type antenna jack, same as car radio antennas
