@todderbert, Big question! What time was it when you had demoed the Shortwave bands?? Since you are
very near to the mid parts of the states, that can be adventitious for shortwave reception and so if you have
an exacting time of day that you had setup for the shortwave portion, I would surely like to know! It is also
most helpful that you either put inside of your show notes if not also in your audio recording time of your
stream that would be great too! By doing so, this could potentially broaden the interests of your video
following experience and quite possibly more people just might be buying more of these radios too! That
last video that you had put up didn't show off the shortwave receiving aspects and to be sure, I felt like
that we were being cheated out of a good run of just how well if not how poorly a radio can perform as well!
This was on the Eton FR-250 that was posted on the 14th of October I believe!

HejTodderbert thanks for the review of the Raddy RF-757 it's a nice radio, and I've been considering buying it, but maybe it would be best to wait for an upgraded version. Also, there are a few things that should be fixed, like the headphone jack you mentioned in the video, and things like the lack of bandwidth filters. Otherwise, it seems like a pretty nice radio. I own the Qodosen DX-286, and it's a radio that I love. It's a real performer on all bands. And Todderbert, wow! I am very happy with the Prunus J-167 FM/AM/SW radio that just arrived. I have upgraded the built-in battery to a Nitecore NL1410 1000mAh Rechargeable 14500 Battery. There will be a lot of radio time for me now. A rain storm is coming; it will rain for a week. Take care and have a nice night in Chicago.

I really can't say this is priced too high - we have here a genuine wideband receiver in a very compact size. My main requests are for more sensitivity on MW, and ability to record Bluetooth audio. The very gradual AGC happens on other radios as well, and I see no good reason to have it. This radio is way up on my want list thanks to your review. A lot happening in such a small package!

I like this multi-band radio mainly for the remote control app. It looks like the Android app is not available on the Play Store and is only available via some sketchy website as an APK download that you need to sideload onto your phone. Too many security issues for me. If they ever publish a legit app on the Play Store then I would consider a purchase. Thanks Todderbert for another super review video. 👍

There is a PDF download of the manual ( I just downloaded it.) In a quick look at it, it seems that the SD (TF) card player has a random (shuffle) function! Most radios that can play from cards lack this VITAL function. Along with the rest of the specs and the price, I will certainly get one! This seems like the ultimate radio to take to work with me!

I've watched a bunch of your reviews. I don't know what you do with all these radios after you review them... but what I would like to see is a teardown of some of these radios along with technical information of the chips that are in these radios - mostly all are radios on a chip.
I have the Raddy RF760 and looking at the display on the Raddy RF757 it looks to use the same chip as the RF760. So, as far as significant difference between the performance of the 760 and 757 it would probably be the same allowing for differences in ferrite antenna for MW reception and other details.
How many of these radios are just, at base, a SI4735 chip or variant? If so, how different can they be in performance? A teardown would disclose the real differences in these radios showing the chip, build quality, engineering, and so on.
    Just a suggestion...

Hello, thanks for your work. Is there any Bandwidth able to improve AM band cause i found AM power very low ? thank you

    • @todderbert
      @todderbert  Місяць тому

AM has a slow acting AGC, and is rather quiet. You can try a passive loop to help boost the gain. You have to use the EQ as a ad-hoc filter section, since it doesn't have any user select-able bandwidth options yet. I'm pushing them to implement it for MW, and Shortwave.

It is good, but a handheld scanner may be better. I was getting faint signals with no issues on the 757, but the squelch isn't great. No adjustable threshold, and a gain control that is slow acting when in use.

SSB is not required to get emergency broadcasts with this radio. SSB is wonderful if you want to listen to HAMs who mainly talk about antenna size, and power outputs. There are some informative nets, but I rarely tune in SSB. I enjoy HAMs who use a Full AM transceiver. Less range, more power, but any SW radio can pick them up if near enough.

Very few broadcast stations and when I do get a station, it's too weak to be readable. This is why I have to have SSB, otherwise I'd never hear much.
