    I just sometimes feel sad when Train tries so hard to explain himself and then I see chat mocking him and not taking him serious.
    Just like Train said, there are a lot of people who don't know where to put these jokes and banter at the right time or moment, and mostly, chat expresses/shows this the most.

    Copycat suicide is a real thing, hearing news about suicide past days had a big effect on me. I was felling depressed and thinking that how suicide end all the pain for those people and how they are in peace now. That's why we all need to try to be social, this online generation is a concern. Instead of ordering food just go out and get it by yourself this small things help so much. Corona has definitely had a big impact on mental health try to keep yourself busy and talk when you have these bad thoughts.

    Trains interruptions and antics is because of his stutter i can 100% guarantee that, he'll want to chime in on an intellectual conversation and will feel a block. Then he'll cover it up by saying "oh nah nah, sorry, excuse me, never mind" I would love to hear a conversation with Dr k and train.

  • @paro2210

    I have been depressed/had depression for 15 years. And suicidal for 12. The biggest reasons I haven't taken my own life is my mom. I regularly have conversations with her. It's something that has helped me get better. But I also didn't know until I was 18. So since I was 18 my suicidal episodes have gone from being every other day to 1-3 times a month. One thing also is that people doesn't know unless I tell them. I also don't like most psychologists, especially the one I was sendt to, because they wanted me on antidepressants right away instead of exploring other things.

    As somebody who can relate with Devin's position as somebody who desperately wants to help but doesn't have much personal experience with actually being depressed, manic, etc., I think the most important thing I took away from this is what Jason suggested about giving the person 3 choices and try to understand what they actually need from you and keeping that dialogue open. This was a really fantastic discussion, thanks everyone

    I watched the vod of this on Twitch. Just coming here to comment that this was an amazing episode. Lots of great discussions and information about mental health talked about here that doesn't get talked about enough in gaming. I have witnessed great depression from friends, family and myself in the past and this is something I take seriously. I am but a stranger to you reading this and to anyone suffering in anyway in the mind I say it's not weakness to seek help, people out there DO care about you and STAY STRONG.

    I’ve struggled with depression for years. But I’m currently on an upswing. I can relate to the disconnect though. For a while I could not perceive the world correctly. I felt like a floating head connected to a body. I was trapped inside myself. I’d be lying to say that I’m not struggling. But I’ve never been suicidal save for one fleeting moment. I shut it down. I refused to go there. I wrote a poem about it if anyone is interested here it is.

    So basically this whole podcast was talking about a problem and how to handle that is not even in their responsibility.
    People that don't watch streams and don't play games online etc. are also toxic af, a lot.
    BUT, handling them and maybe kinda "curing" those from their side could make a great impact. A lot of people are already doing this as best as they can, not only healthygamer and orgs, but also communitys and streamers.
    And we can already see a change in the online community, thanks to people like those here, train not to be mentioned at last, because he is wrapping his head around this for years now, but gaming communitys, groups, developers, everybody is kinda thinking about "how can i encourage better behavior and make peoples life better?"
    Especially in the online communties.
    I think thats a great cause.

    what I want to know is what effect does religion on suicide. does being religious or agnostic have an effect on sucidality?

    • @Rov-Nihil

      Well on the one hand you got the virgins heaven and on the other you got the fear of hell... Hmmmmmmm

    • @PlevritisBlevins
      @PlevritisBlevins 4 роки тому +22

      Well a lot of Christians, always enforce the belief that if one is to take their own life, there is no place in ‘Heaven’ for them. Heaven being the afterlife for Christianity. Extreme Christians would rather scold a man who takes their own life, rather than feel remorseful. They believe if one is not ‘gracious’ with the life god has given them, then they will burn in hell, and that there is no forgiveness for committing suicide. (Note I am not a Christian, nor do I have these beliefs.)

    • @neetfreek9921
      @neetfreek9921 4 роки тому +15

      There's some evidence that religion protects against suicide, mostly due to the more community dependent relationships it forms, as well as the purpose one can derive from it. Whether or not religion is a healthy way to cope with mental health is another question entirely. Personally, I don't value life enough to lie to myself in order to be happy, but some people could care less. Ignorance is bliss~

    • @Rov-Nihil
      @Rov-Nihil 4 роки тому +6

      @@neetfreek9921 its one of (Abrahamic) religion's many mechanisms for its own survival: have tons of kids, send them out to convert others, dont kill yourself (because its not productive, but say god says so), induce phobias like fear of hell onto your followers so they stay in line, and probably a million more i'm not remembering now.
