I own no copywrite and all belongs to Devo.
I wish I could be teleported back in time to attend this gig 🚀
Early DEVO's energy and rawness is unmatched, back when musicians took chances and were actually creative. "In The Beginning Was The End."
EVERYBODY wanted to escape Ohio except for Micheal Stanley: Chrissie Hynde, DEVO, The Waitresses, etc.
Gut Feeling is one of the greatest songs ever written
I was there on July 9...my 18th birthday.
Bob 1 on Smart Patrol. What an incredibly rocking solo. 💕
He is so good. I love the way he can be sparing with the riffs too, it’s the exact opposite of cock rock and it floats my boat
RIP Alan🥁& Bob2🎹🌻
Jerry & Mark on the marching powder‼️
Bob1 rock’en on the 2x4🎸
These guys really were a classic band. Fringe, but so relevant and mainstream. I can’t stop watching them.

RIGHT?!
@@davidvasquez8658 Right.
Yep. I love them so much, going through another phase of OBSESSION! Can’t stop watching gigs and interviews ❤
Devo never left the cutting edge
WE ARE ALL D - E - V - O
you devo, I devo, he she me, devo?
Devo, devoing...
Alan's work on Gut Feeling is mind-stopping.
they were never the same after
Every great band starts with a great drummer navigating the groove. Alan's crisp fills totally put a frame on these songs.
*mammy-slapping
@@HereForTheBeer1987 indeed. There's something about the drum machines that makes me want to clear my throat.
One of the greatest rock drummers, never received the attention her clearly deserves.
Artists from Akron Ohio are the best! Put this band in the Rock Hall of Fame!!!!!
The Rock and roll Hall of Fame is not as much of an accomplishment as it was back in the day now they let anybody in.
Kurt would be aghast that Nirvana got in before DEVO
This is so great! Devo is the most original band ever!!
Cardiacs
Proper original art in every sense of the word
After a hard [and long] day of work I landed here. I grew up in NY and as an avid music fan owned hundreds of vinyls. At my young age I had attended over 350 concerts of all types of music largely because tickets didn't break the bank as they do these days. I was fortunate to have already been "turned on" to Devo and even had an EP? I knew of this show yet for some unexplainable reason I was too lazy to attend this show. Ah, what I would not give to have a time machine. BTW, for all of the negative criticism that the journalists wrote about the band with at that time, HERE, one can easily see the band was really TIGHT. Set up 15:24 and listen. There simply was no comparable band at the time.
devo literally had no records by this point, unless you mean singles.
@@kidflersh7807 Hello there teacher. Record. A vinyl record comes in many sizes. Perhaps you never shopped in an indie store?
I was at one of the shows (the one Bowie wasn't at sadly). It was fantastic.. Mongoloid was a Max's juke box staple long before they performed so we were ready for them!
Just amazing. The rawness of Mongoloid and Gut Feeling on the second night is simply to die for. Thank you for the upload. Duty Now For The Future. Dave.
Thank God someone documented this.
Jazz, Funk , Rock , Punk all in one band. Amazing
You should check out Dog Fashion Disco, that’s an accurate description of them too...
Lots of surf influence on the first album
Hard to believe these guys were writing this music just down the road from me. Akron ftw!
This truly a genius video capture
I had to come back to say thank you to "Devo Performances" and to clarify that my reference to attending 350 concerts at that time was not a brag but rather an admission I was to myself at that time. So many lame shows I had already seen and here, in my backyard, was one great example of raw youthful energy. I am 20 minutes into this video and I am crying.
@Philip Jalen Your spam comments are always appreciated.
@@paidrussiantroll1305 Philip, Giovanni, and Marcel are all originating from the same IP address. Imagine that?
I was 16.
There was a palpable sense "something was happening" with music and culture.
The Clash blew open that door for me in 1978.
I do not lament what I did not see, for the shows I did see startimg in Feb 1979 are the stuff of legend.
@@sammencia7945 I did get to catch The Clash at the West Side Pier; a blistering show circa '79-'82 (memory fades.) Little did I know it would be the only and last time.
@@paidrussiantroll1305
That was Sept of 1982 and Terry Chimes was drumming.
"Steve Bondy" & ":Bob Belfiore" Mixed This Show on a "Bondy Sound" System !! Same Guys Who Mixed "Johnny Thunders" !
You can see, hear and feel the talent these guyz had early on... This is a great video, ThAnK YOU!!!!!
At 40:02 watching Bob Mothersbaugh using the microphone stand as a slide on the guitar strings is just sensational. Can’t believe I’m actually seeing Devo this Sunday in Sydney. I believe they will whip. It. Good!
Hope it was a good show, and produced some memories you can cherish forever. I finally got to see them in 2011 and it was one of the two best concerts I've ever had the privilege of attending. Truly a one-of-a-kind group, those five dudes came together like different molecules in a chemistry experiment, to create this brilliant fireball of creativity that has somehow been burning for half a century now. Gotta appreciate these kinds of special things before they're gone.
The transformation from electrician coveralls to radiation suits! Cool piece of history
I'm going to see them LIVE next Sunday 26/11/23 Darling Harbour Theatre at ICC Sydney, NSW
It's their Farewell Tour, their Goodbye to the World.
50 Years of DEVO!!!!!!!!
Am love DeVo. WAy ahead. And so young in this. Powerful. Accomplished. Competent. Hive mind. Would pick them to represent Earth.
The Words Get Stuck in My Throat- Devo’s power ballad
Someone needs to remaster this and release it
i remember that someone colorized and upscaled a few clips for a documentary, but it wasn't much
This might already be remastered lol.
Yea, and someone should repaint the MonaLisa while their at it.
I wonder if the people in the crowd had any idea of how genius these guys were.
That dude in the front of Gerald, slapping the stage during "Gut Feeling" and pounding his fist into the air, he definitely gets it!
@@cftvdata😂👍
This Entire Video Was Shot From Inside The Sound Booth !! The Camera Mic Recorded What We Mixed !! The Best Seat !!
Can you imagine the confusion in the audience?
Ide imagine they were there for Devo
Thank you for posting this! Amazing!
thank you so much
so good so fun
it use to be the real concerts...
Too much fun... Max's..!!!
Ahead of there time without a doubt thanks for the upload
Thank you for this amazing upload. I've been keeping track of how much '77 footage is out there, and how much is missing. Just about everythings around, except for "Jocko Homo", "Secret Agent Man", "Come Back Jonee", "Be Stiff", "Nutty Buddy", and full "Huboon Stomp" and "Clockout".
Somewhere out there, there is footage of one of those songs but Nutty Buddy needs to be found!
@@jakeweil1660 no video, but a live recording:

Hank Jennings I see the Eraserhead profile picture and the Twin Peaks username. You probably know since you seem to be an in depth fan of Devo, but have you heard their version of “In Heaven Everything is Fine”? It’s pretty killer
Yeah, seems like they were super active in 77, I don't see much 78.
I just can't help from wondering what these young and very hip NYC audiences thought about these boys from Akron at this time!
Wow!
Gut Feelin trumps all
So good and original!
Merci les gars!!
"It's Life, Jim, but not as we know it." Dr.McCoy
Uncontrollable Urge is out there somewhere.
uncontrollable spudboys
First time I’m hearing mark take a breath during the baby’s.
The Clash and DEVO had that same IN YOUR FACE power sound.
This is great
Classic ❤❤

FAB! Hey - it would be great to see what Artificial Intelligence can do with these early clips !!
i really like the last verse of satisfaction in the version

C'est comme ça que dans l'émission Chorus ils étaient présentés (voir la vidéo du concert fin 1978)

Spud boy America gets ready for Reagan.
On penetration in centerfold I could see that being an influence for les claypool and primus
Great how the audience looks like 5 hippies waiting for the Ginsberg reading😂😂😂.
How to make a Swifties head explode 🤯
Is there a way to remaster this?
"D.E.V.O." was different. They Made a Movie They Used To Open Their Shows. "David Bowie" Introduced Them !! Truth !!
Would love to know what venue
8:55-9:11 for syncronised line dancing

Genauso bekloppt wie ich. Ich finde die seit über 40 Jahren so geil. It must be a very good camera. My father had only 8mm Handcam with curble no battery. 2022 if there are on tour? Slap your mummy is not printed on my record, hihi.32:45 satisfaction
Early scenes are all the same.
Cleveland, London, Liverpool, Hapsburg, DC, NYC, Athens, Algonquin Roundtable, Impressionists of 1883 - it is always 9 - 17 people who are clued into a new way of doing things.
Same here.
Nobody is there. 30 people tops.
At Max's? Probably a few more...
juste ST Vincent c'est terrible mais de france on etend pas tout
My Favorites By D.E.V.O. Were "MONGOLOID": & "SATISFACTION" For "Topic" & "Arrangement" !! "Weirdo's From Ohio !!"

I hear a story. Cheetah from dead boys have a fight with them. He don't like it, thinks they are not enough rock n roll. In my opinion cheetah was total wrong. They're something else but rock n rollers too
psycho musique, qu'est-ce-que c'est?

c'est presque aussi bien qu'Elvis sinon mieux en moins pire...
"DEVO is the most subversive band in rock," Kurt Cobain.
Devo were ok but skrewdriver were so much better Rip Ian and Grinny.
Devo, mongoloid Pet tenders, Jaw Tooth , ETR r.r are The Bedrock of Ohio
How did they go from this great heavy sound to New Traditionalists? Its got to be one of the worst band progressions ever.
New Traditionalists is an awesome album. Maybe you are suffering from "De-Evolution".
Yeah, I’m 100% with Matthew Winter on this. New Traditionalists was the last great DEVO album. Maybe if you had said Smooth Noodle Maps.
@@matthewwinter5581 It's Devo who suffered from De-evolution. 1974 to 77 was the best for creativity, 78 to 80 was the best for live musicianship and the rest was a steady decline all the way to Shout, then down further again to Total Devo and SNM then an album released in 2010 which just left me cold.
Nu-Tra is an ok album but it makes me sad that as prophesied in the 1976 movie the beginning really was the end.
You could say they devolved.
