    how's the water level being maintained with the air bubbles going up?

    must have cost a fortune, im just starting to get fish i set everthing up 3 days ago i have no fish im waiting for the water to cycle, however i was wondering how i would change the water every three weeks, do i have the "stress coat" conditioner in the new water and adjust pH in it as well?

    You have a lot of faith in your sysytem! I hope you never have an air leak on that top tank. That setup is simple, yet awesome! Great thinking.

    question .. I see how the water remains in the top of the tank, however doesnt the air bubble cause the water the be pushed down? Is there a valve that you have installed at the top to suck air out to balance water level? please respond. PS beautiful work. MV

    Isn't physics wonderful! Added to which is the water's natural physical chemistry...cohesion and adhestion! This fish tank is a veritable work of art! Appreciate the vid Fishfreedom.

    Beautiful.
    Risking debasement by other posters, the air flow mystifies.
    How is negative pressure maintained, with air bubbling to the top?

    This is really incredible, and ingenious. Couple years back when i was like, 10. my dad built me an amazing tank, with tubes(clear) coming out of it and around my room. so the fish could swim through them, like the tubes in a hamster thing.

  • @EtotheMax
    @EtotheMax 16 років тому

    Nice design, but how do you prevent the air provided by the air pump from displacing the water in the top part? Is the air pump pumping air from outside the tank or from the air in the top part?

  • @Folkboat11

    i'm planning to make a tank like this so i was jusy wondering if that was a air stone that you were using to creat the bubbles in the top taink area and if that would affect it by adding air to the top makeing it so you have to add water to the top and take out the air more often

  • @jeffjan02
    @jeffjan02 16 років тому

    Very imaginative. The top must have been siliconed air tight. I believe the effect is same as sucking soda up a straw and capping the top. The water must have been sucked up from the top and capped immediatedly. There must also be a switch valve to pump in water loss. Either way, awesome and very imaginative!!! Great design

    I understand all the physics of the tank etc but how do you keep the level in the top tank from falling with the air you are pumping into it? Do you have a second pump drawing the air back out?

    I've finished building a smaller version of this. a 5" x 16" x 11" (bottom) and 8" x 13" (Top tank) and today I'm gonna test it for any leaks and I'd like to ask a question about how to maintain the bubble curtain inside without filling up too much air inside the chamber? should i put a small hole on top and use a siphon and siphon it down to the bottom tank ? is that possible?

    Assuming the top of the upper tank is sealed or the watter would all fall out and overflow at the bottom. However if this is the case, how do you keep the top of the upper tank clean and free of alge without having to drain the whole thing and manouver the tank around to get up there?

  • @bubblerings
    @bubblerings 15 років тому

    Yes, I just absorbed what he wrote... no secret about the bubbles. They are recirculated, yet provide current for gas exchange with the lower tank.

  • @achekyule
    @achekyule 12 років тому

    Is there an bubbles coming out of an air stone? How is that possible? Wont the bubbles increase pressure in the top tank and eventually drain the water into the bottom tank? Please explain, I'm trying to build one.

  • @13thChip
    @13thChip 15 років тому

    To support this concept, the top tank (open bottom) should be airtight . I am wondering what happens to the airbubbles that go up. Wont they force the water to come down if air pressure fails? Or is there a provision to take the air back to the pump and re-circulate?

  • @CriX098
    @CriX098 17 років тому

    Depends on the flowrate of the filter. Surprisingly, for the TopFin Hangon filters the 20 is rated at 100gph and the 10 is rated at 80gph. I'm using two 10s on my 29 gallon aquarium so I'm getting 160gph vs the 100gph I'd be getting using just the 20. So the point is you can't rely on the "naming" of the filter. Check the filter's GPH rate.

    @puttputt47 any idea how they've solved the problem of the water level going down as the other air pump that you see in the video fills up the top of the top tank with air or is your guess as good as mine?
    The only thing I can think of is that they have a water level sensor which turns on the air pump (the one that you mentioned in your post) once the water level gets down to a certain point.

    @chiporama Re-read my question. I don't think you understood what I was asking. My point is that if you keep filling the high-rise section with air (bubbles), it will lower the water level in that section. I'm asking how he gets the air bubbles out, to maintain the water level in the high-rise section of the tank.

    if im correct the top must be sealed to form a suction. if you were to have the top open the water would empty into the larger tank and both tanks would have the same water level. is that why you feed them from the bottom? how then do you get a fish out of the smaller tank if he doesnt ever come out to the larger one? if a fish dies in there and floats to the top you must have a hell of a time getting it out.

    Wow! That is a very nice looking aquarium! So how do you build one? I have a turtle aquarium right now and something like this would be very nice. The turtle could go in the bottom part (along with my electric blue lobster) and the fish could go throughout. Very nice!

  • @Rennpanzer
    @Rennpanzer 16 років тому

    The surface area of the top of the water in the bottom tank is large enough so that the atmospheric pressure 14.7 lbs/sq. in. (at sea level) can, in effect, "push" down on the bottom tank's surface with enough force to hold up the water in the verticle section. I believe it's similar to the manner in which a barometer works. That's why a berometer is calibrated in inches of mercury, ergo how many inches of mercury the air pressure can hold up in the barometer's "tube".
