I use the escalators things for tickling and massaging my feet. I wouldn't necessarily use it to clean shoes as it is probably more dirty than your shoes.

I wouldn't put my spoon that way on the handle. It would drip the contents all down the handle. It might also cause someone to knock a hot pot over while trying to remove the spoon. I don't think that is what that hole in pot was intended for.
