This was extremely helpful! As a home school mom with 6 children, only 3 of whom are school-age, this is exactly what I need to make sure everyone is staying "on task" through the day full of urgent needs. Thank you!

Sonya, thank-you very much for your videos and all the information you impart. They are very helpful and much appreciated. Do you have any advice for working with pre-high - high school students transitioning from public school who need a lot of catching up?

I have a request. I would love it if SCM put a list of those educational videos per level (early years, 1-3, 4-8, 9-12) on your website or maybe you already have one? In Kansas homeschooling requirements is an either/or situation. (either 186 days or 1116 hours of education) So, I selected 186 days and do field trips for the remaining 6 days. The pandemic we’ve had a challenge with field trips, either they were canceled or are not open. So, educational videos would be a nice substitute... hence my request.

We don't have a list of educational videos that we've reviewed, but you might check out free CM Bookfinder for options: apps.simplycharlottemason.com/resources
Anything in that database with an "SCM" badge has been reviewed by SCM and is recommended.

Do you believe that it is beneficial to assign these types of independent tasks with an only child? Sometimes I feel like I’m doing too much hand holding in our days and my daughter needs to learn to work more independently but I feel guilty sometimes because I don’t have another child vying for my attention. I just want her to learn to do some tasks on her own.

Helping a child learn to work independently has great value and pay-off for life. There will be time in the future that she needs to work independently for a variety of reasons and the skills and habits she learns earlier in life will make those moments easier for her.

Do you know a good audio storybook app for children that's free? (Playstore)

    • @SimplyCharlotteMason

We don't have a recommendation for a free audiobook app, but we've enjoyed audiobooks from Audible.

LibriVox is free and has quite the library of classic books.

Your local library has access to Overdrive (or a similar app). Just ask a librarian, download a book and GO. :)
