    Hi Oldguyjammin, I bought a 1964 Gibson discoverer GA-8T amp and what looks like the footswitch cord for the tremolo has been cut off. Most of the cord is there as it is long. It comes out of the transformer. The tremolo footswitch has been cut off from the cord. The cord has two wires. Are these connected to AC current? The seller on Reverb didn't disclose this to me.

    Hi. Thanks for the video! I have a question. I have a Fender Hot rod Deville 410 and I want to use my marshall footswitch model PEDL - 90010 (this footswitch is from a marshall SERIES MG amp. do you have any idea? Thanks

      Yes, sell the Marshall pedal and buy the correct Fender pedal :-) seriously though, I got confused and thought you were talking about the big, 4 button Marshall footswitch. This one should work, only way to tell is to try it. You may have to complete the mod to bypass the LEDs. Look at the Fender switch... does it use LEDs? If it does, pretty safe to say it'll work without the mod. Try it and let me know!

    Hello, interesting mod!!! I have a question, gentleman. Wich pedal can I use for a Peavey Classic 30 remote switch?, Something similar to the oroginal footswitch or a HQRP?, can I use a Randall RX120rh footswitch? Thank you a lot.

      Seems the Classic 30 just uses a two button on/off type switch. Basically, if the channel LEDs are on the amp face you don’t want them on the pedal. If they are NOT on the amp ace than you’ll most likely need them on the footswitch. Not sure what an HQRP is…?

      easy enough to try, and if it doesn't work solder back in place or use a paper clip to reconnect the cut wires. If you have soldering stuff consider installing a little switch so you can use the pedal in multiple situations.

    • @oldguyjammin9732
      @oldguyjammin9732  2 роки тому

      Hmmm, that’s interesting and I gotta say that I really have no idea, lol - how’s that? What I would try however is taking the back of the Marshall footswitch and bypass the LED, then try it again. You could bypass the LED by using a wire with alligator clips at each end, scrap the insulation of the LED leads and put a paper clip across them, etc. You could also test this idea but plugging an instrument cable into your boss rc and the use that same paper clip or some sort of wire to connect the ring and tip on the other end of the cable and see if the RC switches. It sounds like the RC is activated by voltage pulses rather than a switch and latches on/off and the LED could be affected the voltage pulse.

    • @BabyThomas
      @BabyThomas Рік тому

      If you have to press twice the amp works with non-latching switches. This is probably mentioned in the product's manual.

    Sir my Randall rg50tc has an old footswitch jack on the amp, a 6 pin din I think. Is there any way to convert that to a regular jack so I can use it with my Marshall footswitch?

    • @oldguyjammin9732
      @oldguyjammin9732  Рік тому

      I actually think you could. You may have to bypass the LEDs on the Marshall Footswitch which is pretty easy (I did a vid on that too) cause the LEDs on your Randall will screw with that. Also, you'll only be able to choose between two functions unless ON / OFF will switch you between TWO. I'm not explaining myself well... I would start with finding the ground pin on your connector and then connecting it with a wire to the other pins to see what happens. At worst you should be able to switch between 4 different options. Having a look at the original pedal would help... is one NOT available!?
      You might also have TWO grounds which would give you 4 switching options if you had a 4 button switch like the Peavey or Engl. So, find the commons and then just make connections to the other pins to see "whats what" and design your new pedal.

    • @oldguyjammin9732

      @@Deathwing-kw5fs - you’d have to interrupt the circuit somewhere, probably easiest where the reverb control knob is soldered to the board, or between it and the first component it “sees”. And then, like you said, wire that to a normally closed 1/4 input jack and mount the jack to the chassi, then make a simple on/off footswitch. It be easier to buy an even ‘middle of the road’ reverb pedal on the cheap and put it on your board… run it through the effects loop. It’ll also be a much better delay than is in that DSL. Some used Hall of Fame, or Boss RV6 or something.

    • @oldguyjammin9732
      @oldguyjammin9732  Рік тому

      Not really but I'm sure it's pretty close to the same. You can just put an instrument cable in the footswitch jack and then short the other "ends" together with a paperclip or spoon or... if the amp switches modes, you just replace your clip or spoon with a footswitch button. If the amp does not switch modes you'll need to consider wiring an LED around the footswitch button.

    I have a question about amp switching. I have an Engl Gigmaster 15 with a stereo footswitch for channel and mid boost. The problem is my loopswitcher has only 1 mono out left. When I use a mono cable it only does the channel switching (what is fine) but now the mid boost is on until I unplug the mono cable from the amp. Can I do something to get that mid boost off? Thanks

    • @oldguyjammin9732
      @oldguyjammin9732  2 роки тому +1

      So you’re not using the stereo footswitch...? What comes to mind first is to replace the mono connector/plug at the end of your loopswitcher cable with a stereo one. Connect the tip and ground from your switcher like it was and then hardwire the ring to ground for the mid boost. I’d make the connection outside of the plug casing (like 6” of exposed wire lead) Incase that function requires an open” rather than “closed” state. Make sense? It’s really hard explaining stuff writing back and forth :) come back if not.

      would that be a Harley Benton 40 with reverb? I would think so but you’ll probably need to have an LED indicator on the footswitch. To find out plug a stereo cable into the foot switch jack and the use a paper clip to connect the shaft to either ring and see if the channel changes or boost comes on (is it two function foot switch or just channel switching) If it’s only channel switching just use a regular instrument cable. If the paper clip doesn’t work use an LED across the shaft and tip, if the LED does not light up, reverse the leads and try again.
