CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Rick (Brendan Fraser) and Alex (Luke Ford) argue over the best plan of attack.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The Fast and the Furious director Rob Cohen continues the tale set into motion by director Stephen Sommers with this globe-trotting adventure that finds explorer Rick O'Connell and son attempting to thwart a resurrected emperor's (Jet Li) plan to enslave the entire human race. It's been 2,000 years since China's merciless Emperor Han and his formidable army were entombed in terra cotta clay by a double-dealing sorceress (Michelle Yeoh), but now, after centuries in suspended animation, an ancient curse is about to be broken. Thanks to his childhood adventures alongside father Rick (Brendan Fraser) and mother Evelyn (Maria Bello), dashing young archeologist Alex O'Connell (Luke Ford) is more than familiar with the power of the supernatural. After he is tricked into awakening the dreaded emperor from his eternal slumber, however, the frightened young adventurer is forced to seek out the wisdom of his parents -- both of whom have had their fair share of experience battling the legions of the undead. Should the fierce monarch prove capable of awakening his powerful terra cotta army, his diabolical plan for world domination will finally be set into motion. Of course, the one factor that this emperor mummy failed to consider while solidifying his power-mad plans was the O'Connells, and before this battle is over, the monstrous monarch will be forced to contend with the one family that isn't frightened by a few rickety reanimated corpses.

I know this movie isn't that great, but one thing I always liked was what they did with Alex's character. I just find it funny that he grew up to be pretty much exactly like his father.
only his father served with the french foreign legion. i don't know if Alex has same experience
What happened to his accent though?
@@scottt6267 he probably spent a bunch of time with americans and picked up their accent. I've heard of that happening before
He is the perfect combination of both. Alex is a linguist like his mother and a soldier like his father, the best of both of them are in him imo.
Except more cautious.
Brendan still looked so youthful only ten years ago. All that depression and what his ex did really took a toll on him.
Hes only 52 lol thats around the same age as The Rick (52) … a year or 2 of dieting and training and he can be right back on point.
Can you please tell me what exactly happened to Brendan?
@@CulinaryArts101 Insane divorce and an abusive ex-wife from hell. That's what happened, I've heard. I might be wrong.
@Sarah Depeux perhaps my source isn't reliable. I'll research more.
Yeah poor guy got put through the ringer
Remember when Alex was british?
Remember and miss.
@@BarberShave19 tbfh, people don't try to explain and decide to only nitpick. I've seen a comment that was trying to question how he doesn't have an accent anymore, and the rest of the thread was filled with bs.
@@BarberShave19 One teeny tiney itsy bitsy problem with that...the O'Connell's still live in England in the third one. And when you live in England plus your mother is British? Yeah that accent isn't going away
Remember when his mum was Rachel Weiz 😂😂😂
@@BarberShave19 Except that he instead gained an Australian accent.
Same mummy. Twice. Plus a scorpion king and a whole bunch of mummy priests and mummy warriors
My thoughts exactly.
You have a point
Kid has no respect. He would have been dead if it was not for Rick. He killed more mummies himself than Alex could ever dream of
@@urbanworld8954 He’s in his late teens/early twenties, the top of his class, and from a family of adventurers and archaeologists. What do you expect?
@@LordCommander-ui2fw to not be so full of pride and stubbornness and give Rick some credit?
He also technically took down more than 1 mummy. He fought Imhotep's priests. As well as Mummified Pharoah's bodyguards and mummies in Returns.
Not to mention the scorpion king
@@bryantbillips4064he is not a mummy but considered as a monstre
Still an impressive feat, saved the world TWICE! ✌️
It's like Rick didn't age a single day throughout the entire series (one that spans for 20 years). A little makeup and gray streaks wouldn't have hurt.
Corey Toomey Rick and Evie were approaching 60 years old in this movie so I agree with that.
@@michaelterrell2108 They were supposed to be in their forties.
@@tessdurberville711 yeah at first I read that Rick and Evie were both born in 1890... Then it was switched 1902, which means they're 45 in the movie....
And all the sequels were not even 5 years one after the other! They didn't have to make each story so far apart in time!
Yea they would do that but they just went on the natural way plus evie age though.
"It's not about size dad, its about stamina" hahahhahaha
Well size *does* matter, but yeah, he's right.
@@WestLegend03in length or girth? 🤣
Father and son comparing guns, nice
I see what you did there ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Are they father and son? Cause to me they are like brothers.
Don't get me wrong though I've watched the series.
Johnny Casey yup they're father and son...
Definitely father and son.
he looks leon with this jacket
And gloves, and hair
love the way alex and rick were having a father and son talk with guns
"You put down ONE mummy, Dad."
No, Alex. Rick's killed plenty.
Boy has no manners.
Rick has defeated Imotep 2x and killed the Scorpion King without any guns. He also saved Evy, Ardeth, Johnathan, Alex many times. He's a badass! Alex should admire and show more respect to his father. He KNOWS best!
Word.
But you know youth. You know what comes with. It can't be evaded, from the intelligent down to the reckless theres always one weakness in some degrew. Arrogance.
He does respect his dad. But, that doesn’t mean he should blindly go along with everything he says.
To be fair...he defeated Imhotep once....the second time Imhotep committed suicide
@@steffondoyle8071 Stop making excuses, he was an annoying little brat in the second film, and here he's an annoying man-child. Will you still be making excuses for him when he's 60, eh you probably will, saying well he's old, it's not his fault, right?!
1:25 the writing is just golden.
It's just ss hilarious as the first two movies.
Is it me or does his voice sound comically low?
Arutemisu
Brendan Fraser had a cold during this scene
Yeah it does ahaha
@@Ya_Boy_Haydendamn
I love this father and son scene old timer with his experience with this tried and true weaponry and the Young generation with newer weaponry who's got the better gun who has better tactics
Better father and son relationship than Harry and Albus
New weaponry yes, but not better or better tactics.
Not only was it the same mummy twice, there was also the mummy's girlfriend, a couple of mummy guards, some mummy monkeys and of coarse the Scorpion king.
And also a crap ton of humans
Actually that’s s his wife and brother in law.
It's seems that they are humain dwarfs mummy and not monkey
“I don’t have much faith in a magic dagger!”
This is the same person who killed a 20 foot scorpion king with a magic spear
Or end the first mummy with a magic book.
Why does Rick sound like he's got a stuffed nose? And what happened to Alex's British accent?!
😂Lol. Right? And his blonde hair 🤔
Vocal cord surgery.
Born in U.K GREW UP IN AMERICA
@@tereasdownes9793 Exactly, people on here thinking people are born with a certain accent
Well, about the stuff nose thing, they are in the Himalayas. That'll do that to ya. As for Alex's accent...bad writing.
Alex looks more like Rick's dad LOL
1:24 “Same mummy…. TWICE”🤣🤣🤣🤣
👏👏👏
Ahh I hope I get to talk guns with my son
Rick is the king of savage moments in the three mummy movies
The son knows guns. The father knows more of mummies than him. Well not a bad trade-off
i saw this movie every time just for my all time favourite hero...BRENDEN FRASER...die hard fan
no that was Bruce Willis. /j
So basically all this scene was about Rick and his son flexing on each other.
I liked The Mummy and The Mummy Returns, but this one wasn't very appealing. Egypt has mummies, China has statues not mummies.
China does have mummies (look up the Tarim mummies on Wikipedia and you'll see what I mean), but you're right that the so-called "mummies" in this movie were really just statue people.
+Dash Porter Actually this was based upon the teracotta mummies.
XTheVideoGamerGirlX I never knew that. Awesome.
Billy McAuliffe REALLY?! After all this time, I thought Egypt was where they had mummies. I never knew china had them.
Dash Porter mummies are everywhere dude lol not all mummys come from egypt. mummies are in south america, europe, africa, asia, middle east, etc.
Brendan could’ve been the perfect Nathan Drake for Uncharted live action movie.
Funnily enough, he was actually one of the inspirations for Nathan Drake.
Or the perfect Leon Kennedy for a RE4 movie.
I mean here he look exactly as Leon in that game.
Heck, even this shootout at the temple felt like it was from Uncharted 2
@@quiver5756 Yeah, the way his hair parts at the front, that RE4 Leon for sure, lol.
Even Brendan Frasier looks like he isn't interested in this movie.
Jack Torrance well he and wife divorced she took a lot of money out of him left him broke so he really had no choice
@@josephmendoza4658 He wanted to do this movie! How dare you imply that he only did it for the money! The alimony reduction hearing did not even happen until five years later. He and some of the cast and crew were ill during the four month shoot. There is a big difference between a man wanting to pay a reasonable amount of alimony and being "broke",which he is not! Shame on you!
Actually the man enjoys being as Rick O'Connell. What's so great about Brendan Fraser is that he loves his action packed movies that he even does his own stunts (hence why he got a terrible back injury). Not to mention that he could care less if the movie was terrible. He's an adrenaline junkie kind of like Tom Cruise and he loves what he does.
@@imgvillasrc1608I mean, Tom Cruise may be an impressive actor and stuntman but IRL, his ego led him to join the dark, perverse, evil cult of Scientology. Just my take on Cruise, tbh
In theory, yes.
Since the only real difference between the P38 and P1 is the grip, the P1s can be used in war movies as substitutes for the P38s.
Also, In Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the AK-47s in the movie are really Chinese Type 56s (The way to tell is to look for hoodded front sight).
O'Connels family became forever young with Egyptian magic?)
If you pause the clip at 00:5, you can see that the two Walther P38s have the smooth plastic grips which means they are acctually Walther P1s, the postwar comercial copy of the P38.
comparing and debating 20th century SMGs and pistols is such a chad thing to do with your son
I was 11 when I watched this movie and I just now got the sexual innuendo between the Walther p38 and the Peacekeeper. 😂
I always wondered how Rick and Alex managed to get that kind of firepower. It's like as if they mail ordered it when it was still a thing back then. Today, some of that stuff is hard to come by.
Funny enough, back then, you actually could buy most of those guns legally and without any bullshit, fully-automatics included.
Why did they make Alex so old? Why did they replace Evie? I actually couldn't even watch the whole movie, because of this.
+Wurmo I know what you mean. I almost didn't see this movie but I saw it only because of Brendan and John reprising their roles as Rick and Johnathan. If it weren't for them, I would have NEVER given this movie a chance.
Yeah and this sequel finally happened like... what? 4? 5 years later? They didn't have to make so much further in time, Alex wouldn't have been too old.
@@CDHfilms ya if the actress who played Evie didnt want to return. they could have said she died. and then the older son would make more sense. Or the lady who played Evie could have stared as a seperate character.. even the pilot... stupid...loved the Jet and Michelle theme though
Ironically they replaced Evie because they made Alex so old. Lol according to some reports that may or may not be true, the actress Rachel Weiz had issues with the fact that she wasn’t old enough to play a mother of an adult son. I don’t know how true that is.
Freddie boath played well in previous film. The new Alex the actor was already in his 30s.
You were right, the one on the left is a genuine P38.
I also got a look at the one on the left before Alex grabbed it, I'm pretty sure it's a P1 but I'm not positive (I mostly know about American and Soviet weapons).
The one good thing about this movie is the guns! Thompson submachine gun FTW!!!
It wasn’t just Imhotep.
In the previous two movies, there was also his priests, the mummy guards, and I think those Pygmies count.
He should have taken out the 1892 winchester that thing got power it was the lever gun next to the tommy
"Do we have a plan if this movie bombs at the box office?"
"We go to Plan B."
"What's Plan B?"
"We reboot The Mummy and have Tom Cruise star in it!"
Kitsch Puffer Fish hahaha
They should have stopped at 2.
Look how well that plan B turned out
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@matthewthornley1120 I'm here all week haha 😄
There's nothing more interesting to watch then seeing fellow gun enthusiasts debate with each other making good points and seeing what they know
the thompson charging handle wont jam if its put together properly, people always over tightened the main spring and other parts when putting them together, and whats with brendans voice he sounds like hes putting on a deeper tone or something lol
Yeah, Frasier's voice is awful in this scene.
So cringy...
He had to have vocal chord surgery come to find out
thejusticeavengers1 plus he had a cold during this scene
Anybody who rocks a single action army, I'd consider a good friend.
Actually, Rick did not kill Imhotep twice. Imhotep killed himself at the end of the second movie
Rick is so damn lucky his son is alive.
Alternate reality: dad this is the mg42 it fires… Rick: this is the m1919 everyone: 👀
Brendan Fraser !!!!!! Badass!!!!
The real question I have is why didn’t Alex go for the M-1911? The P-38 is one of those cruddy 9mm pistols
They’re not 1911s, those are Browning HPs which are also in 9mm. Though from what I understand the design is more balanced than a P38 as well as holding 5 more rounds (for a total of 13 in a double-stacked magazine concept unique for its time).
He did a good job interpreting Leon S. Kennedy
Alex: “Have you ever seen a Walter P38?” Rick: “In the hands of a German officer, I have not son and I don’t plan on to” would’ve been my intrusive thought if I was Brandan 🤣
this movie was fun
He’s literally Leon Kennedy with the street sweeper
Best part of the whole movie right here.
Rick mummy! Alex guns!😂
I admit when this movie first came out i thought it sucked. But then I saw the remake with Tom Cruise and you know what, this movie does have some redeeming qualites. I mean I can't think of any but they are there.
This is the only one I watched so I liked this one xd
apparently watching this scene with the director's commentary The Director didn't watch the last movie because an Die hard fan like myself knows Rick put down Imopeht and Mathyius not Imopeht twice and The director keeps mentioning a movie he made in the commentary.
The dumbest thing was how old the son was. Okay, I could believe a high school kid but not a full grown man! And the martial art fighting was too Bruce Lee for me. Still loved the characters but, missed the real from the first two movies.
+FriendlyPitbull1 Do the math. Alex was 10 years old when he was introduced in the first movie set in 1933. This is 13 years later in 1946. So he's 23!
MrReded69 the guy playing him was 27 and look like Rick'a Brother rather than his Son.
squallofreeves 23, 27, not much of a difference in only 4 years unless you live one hell of an unhealthy lifestyle. I'm 29 and some people are surprised, they think I'm only 20-23.
@@uome20bukz Also Alex was actually 8 in the second movie. He says so in the scene where he and Jonathan steal the bus while Rick and Ardeth are rescuing Evie from being killed
Actually Imhotep killed himself after Anuk-Su-Namun betrayed him.
that's true. he let go and died after she ditched him
Stress ages people fast
Facing and Mummy and Sporpion centaur will give a hell of stress.
When I first saw the trailer for this movie, I couldn’t find Alex anywhere because I didn’t notice that he grew up. A kid in The Mummy: Returns, a young adult in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor!
Does anyone know the name of the pattern of Jonathan’s sweater
At 00:44
Best part of the movie.
I love so much..jetli..my.one.and only,man,that dream..of..I'm a superfan of him..
I remember watching this back when I didn't know much about guns... now that I have quite a bit of experience with them I can tell you I'd take a Thompson over a PPS-43 any day.. especially one of the older variants designed to take drum mags. They both have roughly the same fire rate, Thompson probably about 100rpm higher, but the Tommygun shoots a .45 ACP round while the PPS shoots a less powerful Tokarev. Also the M1919 shot at a staggering 1500 rpm. If he pulled out a PPSH41 maybe they would be comparable.
but pps-43 has almsot double the muzzle velocity
@@theopot5798 Also the PPS-43 weights 8 lbs loaded and the Thompson with a drum is 14 3/4 lbs.
@The Krimson Kommando yes, but even heavier... only problem in this case is cost. Cost of manufacturing in the case of the 1928 and cost of ammo in both cases. Also they are going to be heavy... but strong men like the O'Connells can't complain. PPsh had issues with magazines not fitting properly, which were fixed a little bit with the 43 but not completely. Thankfully the 1928 mags were precision made to fit the magwell exactly so it wasn't a problem
Why does Brendan Frasier sound like he is trying to imitate a version of himself with a deeper voice...?
I thought he killed 2 mummy's. doesn't the Scorpion King?
count
No. the Scorpion king doesn't count as a mummy.
+phillip walling why not? imhophet(i think thats how u spell his name) was undead and cursed. so was the scorpion king
+Nicholas Gieschen (NG3) Yeah, but do you see him withered and looks more corpse like?
Nicholas Gieschen Also, it's "Imhotep."
Actually.....all of Imhotep priests, the mummy warriors from the first mummy, Imhotep 2x, and the 2 mummy warriors he killed on the bus in the Mummy Returns. So no he actually has put down multiple mummies. Easily over 10
Brendan Fraser 😍
What got Rick and Alex arguing like angry parents?!
PPS-42 and the Walther P38 indeed are superior for their needs and overall especially the PPS-42
Very nice
Yeah the guy who played Alex became a big star after this. Great casting Universal.
Nice, Ive got a .22 bolt-action and a M91/30 Mosin-Nagant.

+Luis alcala villanueva yeah and I also defeat imothep priests and pharaon guards with a sword, and I killed a giant scorpion man
