I still like the look of the front in the original one than the new one. The face of the new one looks less aggressive + no fog lights

A pitty you used different percentage of car sizes (old and new) for your comparison

For some people, this latest 2024 revised GR Yaris may be a little less aggressive looking than the first generation GR Yaris. But performance isn't all about looks.
The 2024 upgrades are less about cosmetics, more about practical upgrades eg. more power & torque; better cooling system & most important of all, an automatic option. And it's based on the proven torque converter, not the CVT nor dual clutch system.
Manual transmission are so old school.
In today's circuit racing like in F1, racing drivers are already using paddle shifters, rely on fuel & brake electronic control devices to blip the throttle on the downshifts (vs old fashion heel & toe on entering corners), rev matching on the upshifts.
Gamers in using Rally Simulation equipment & games - they are already playing using paddle shifters.
Yet in real life, why are motor enthusiast still stuck with stirring the gear stick & using the clutch to change gears.
To be blunt, car manufacturers are simply lazy to come up with a reliable solution to the ancient manual gearbox for their mass production performance cars. The profit margin for manufacturer's performance cars are already so good.
Yet the default transmission for these cars are alway the manual gearbox with a clutch.
The basic reason is the manufacturer's warranty issues over automatic gearboxes stressed out by sprited driving. They simply refused to give us this choice.
Kudos to Toyota for coming out with an automatic for the GR Yaris.

'Manual Transmission are so old school' - no they are a reliable technology, that obviously fits the need now and in past time.
F1 uses paddles because they want to be fast. Stick shifting is giving car enthusiast a great feeling. I don't know why you are hating hard on that, i don't know who hurt you, but you put your opinion out there like it is the only opinion to be had. Go touch some grass please. Just because you cannot understand the enjoyment people have with driving stick doesn't make automatic the default.

Rear light bar is trendy and tacky. A significant downgrade imo
