This album came out the year my grand parents were murdered and it took me another two years to even find #CheapTrick when the SOTE album came out. This was my 2nd Trick album and while I didn't like the overall production, because the album doesn't live up to the live sound you get in person, there are some real kick ass songs on the album this being one of. And the lyrics are every bit as true today than they were some 34 years ago when I my ears were first soaking in the sounds of the best fucking band in rock and roll! Thank you #CheapTrick!
I'm so sorry about your Grandparents. My Grandma was everything to me. So I send hugs, this many years later, and hope CT helped you through that horrible time. You're obviously of good bloodline, though, having the eats and brains to recognize the best fucking band ever! 🙏❤🕊
I dont think Tom Petersson can be bothered to learn any deep cuts from the 80's when he was temporarily ousted from the band. Besides, 3D is a fairly difficult song to play, especially the middle/solo section.
Love this tune. I wish Todd had recorded it instead of just playing on Cheap Trick’s recording of it. CheapTrick’s version is terrific but the song is Todd all over so I’d love to have heard him play it with Utopia and I have seen him more times than I can count but I never heard him play this song in concert.
I’d love to hear Todd’s version of this but cheap trick is cheap trick and Robin singing this will never be outdone. One of my favorite cheap trick songs. Oh yeah, and I believe Todd said Robin Zander is the best rock singer of all time. Enough said
@ericbrooke2289 Right you are, Sir. Todd specifically wanted to challenge RZ on this album and pushed him on "I Can't Take It" (which RZ wrote) because he knew he had it in him. TR wrote this song and REALLY challenged him, but obviously.... challenge accepted
Absolutely amazing! I love Cheap Trick. I have yet to see them in concert though but damn, I can tell they seriously rock. Love them! They're such a great band and I LOVE that guitar! Thanks for posting! =)
Robin Zander is easily my favorite of all time rock vocalist second only to the late great Steve Marriott. Cheap Trick is just an outstanding band, I miss Bun E with them now, Daxx is a fine drummer, but they are missing that swing with Bun E. It's the same when Tom left, they just were missing that element that he brought to the mix. They need to do one more album/tour with Bun before somebody dies.
The studio drums on this song really suck. Bun kills it live and really kicks the songs ass in this version. I like it a lot more, but then Cheap Trick definitely shines playing live. A mark of a great band. Love this song. Robin still has the pipes! Saw them on the Iheart Radio show tonight. Weezer and Cheap Trick killed it!
Because of this title and "Next position please" I bought the current album and was terribly disappointed with the studio versions. Both titles could have kept up with "Surrender" or "Dream Police".
People who were alive and listening to this in the 80s, why wasn't this song a massive hit?
Because....humans....ugh.
GOD BLESS CHEAP TRICK
Never get tired of watching Bun E's snare hand
Greatest band ever, best singer ever. Period
When i crank Cheap Trick i really think i am ageless
💯‼️. 👏👏👏👏👏
I saw this concert live on television, in the Netherlands.
One of my favorite CT songs from this era. It's a shame it didn't get any airplay. It definitely has that Todd Rundgren feel to it!
Todd wrote it
Greatest band ever. best singer ever
These guys are the real deal.
Robin's face at 2:30 hittin' that note....then the smile. Love it!
One of the best songs on the album.
Great song.
I love the way the stage is bouncing from the audience jumping.Awesome!
When?

Sending love and empathy

Robin is the Greatest Singer, Long Live Cheap Trick..
Damn, Robin Zander! Huge voice.
Great tune great album, Saw Cheap Trick and Robin Zander works his ass off!!!
The Next Position Please tour was one of their best, and I have seen a LOT of CT shows through the years. A great lost song, too.
+Brad D dude i love em but they dont mix the setlists up much , ive been screaming for them to play 3D to no avail.

Robin Zander - 'Nuff said.
Word.
Who could possibly give this a thumbs down???
A # 1 favorite CT song of all time.

Gotta love the guy jumping up and down in front of the camera as the song starts. Too funny
same lol
Robin you did so great in this song;]
Thanks for posting this Todd Rundgren song!
Incredible!!!
flipping amazing
I love this song from Cheap Trick
Seriously, how can anyone thumbs down this?
Statistically, there's a % of asshats in every crowd. 😅
robin busts out a full voice C# on the word angels in the last chorus then hits an f# falsetto.
Great band, great song...KILLER post!
THANKS

Great song. Good grief, Zander's voice is incredible.
a great tenor

Four years later they're still all hanging in there! Good job too. The world would be a less musical 🎼 🎶 place without CT.

Even the singing sounds like exactly how Todd would sing it!
I like how the cam bounces in the beginning

Very cool! I don't recall seeing a video of this song before.
Anyone know why there is a blackout box at the top of the picture?

Brandt

Maybe like the Studio version better, backing vocals by Todd and the boys helps a bunch!!
Comita? Brandt?
Brandt
Comita only played with them on tour in late 1980 thru 81
