I put these in just about every guitar I build, no matter what style. I love them so much - and you just made me love them even more. I'm not sure I've ever heard a 3b3-01 sound better than that - and I've installed TONS of them. You simply cannot go wrong with Free-Way Switches - and the Strat and Tele switches are actually WAY easier to install than one of the "regular" Strat/Tele switches. Just a fantastic product.
Agreed! I see no downside. Especially having a .015 resistor jumping for 1/2 out of phase as written on the Freeway Switch wiring chart that comes with it. I didn’t use 2 of the positions in the wiring until the .15 resistor was in - now it’s my favorite position, but the ability to have the original positions PLUS a position for all pickups on together full and a position for 1/2 out of phase make the Tele even more versatile! It’s like having an extra position to overdrive just a bit w/o a pedal and a position for that Strat sound that makes pickups work like a clean humbucker. I have them on all of my Fenders, Tele and Strat.

Wow . I installed the 4 way switch in my Tele many years ago when I had better eyesight. It added both PUs in series but your hot rod adds two more sounds than that. Nice addition.

Great demo! I was trying to consider the traditional 4-way switch with the series position, and add a push-push pot for the phase inversions, but this one comes in more handy.

I’ve had something similar with a 4 way mod and an S1 switch on the volume....sounded great in the studio on clean low volume, however live and loud it lost so much of the “tele cutting through the mix tone” and messed with pedals so bad that I had it removed......I just wanted to add, what a great soulful player this young lady is and the mod suits her style of playing.

I love the Freeway switch! I have a 6 way on my Strat (it only has two pickups, a Tele bridge pickup and a Strat neck pickup) and a 10 way on my Yamaha Pacifica. My son has a 6 way on his Jackson Rhodes V. They’re great!

That is a beautiful looking Telecaster, great looking body and rosewood fretboard. I prefer the more modern bridge. I've got to get on these Freeway switches.

Some of the tones reminds me of my 1964 Baldwin guitar with the "wild dog setting etc. It's a collector's item now. It was heavy and the whammy bar was a pain.

Excellent review and as usual great playing.I think its a wonderful switch as it continues the "simplicity" of the telecaster.
The parallel universe gives a large number of options by having an extra pickup but makes it "less than a tele'in appearance to the purist.
Have been searching for someone with a demo of two single coil pickups on a tele to give an ultra smooth bell like tone ,perhaps a project for you.

As a bonus, I am going to try and use the thumb and finger picking technique you used.
Step 1: Get another Telecaster! This was my first decent electric guitar way back in 1980 and selling it it high on a very short list of regrets in life all these years later.

My next will almost certainly be a Telecaster, and I will include this switch mod. The Tele has always been calling me, I love them. Hi Helen, I just bought the same Tele and I was looking to modify the sound, specially the neck position to sound more Jazzy, and I found your video which I enjoy it a lot.
It is fun watching you demonstrate the freeway switch and creat all this sounds.
You get a great sound and tone even without the switch but I like what the switch do and I am going to install it soon!

I've got a Question:
I got a Fender Deluxe Nashville Telecaster about a year ago. From the Factory it came with a normal Strat Switch. I resoldered it so i got this: 1. Position Middle
2. Position Middle+Bridge
3. Position Bridge
4. Position Neck+Bridge
5. Position Neck.
Now my Question: Can i Install this Switch in my Tele and Set it like this:
Normal Roe:
1. Position Bridge
2. Position Bridge+Neck
3. Position Neck
Upper Roe:
1. Position Middle+Bridge
2. Position Middle
3. Position Middle+Neck
Or do i have to do the whole in Series, Out of Phase Wiring?
Did that particular Guitar' have a Toner Already or Was it a Add On Feature? 🎶💯

A couple of question for you Helen. The switch looks really deep. Did it mount it without any issue? Also, I've always put in four way switches to my Teles with the fourth position being both pickups in series (I use this position a lot). Do you find the out of phase sounds very useful? And, if so, which "new" position is your favorite? Love your videos!
