I've found that my voice is the instrument that I have the best command over and thus affords me the most creativity. So, playing ideas that I sing helps my creativity on guitar, breaks the monotony of just playing licks I've learned and ultimately improves my guitar skills. Thank you for reminding me that I need to do it more. You are a phenomenally skilled player and a joy to watch because your play from your soul & with so much emotion that the beauty of your spirit coincides with the beauty of the notes you play. Thank you for making the world a more beautiful place with what you do! ✌🏾& Blessings! ♥️🖤🧡💚
Like i said to you , your eyes tell us a story and that's what i love about you its just great even tho your a pro you say you still learn new things i love that ,i been playing for 20 years and im still learning things and proud to say i learned alot from you and i wanted to thank you for that, its harder to do scales because i injured my hand a few months ago trying to help pull this guy out of his car ,very bad car accident sadly he died in my arms but i try to adjust and i say to myself " Don't be upset just adjust" and watching you helps me , you made playing my guitar fun again like it used to be ,thank you again my sweet Helen ,its amazing how you change peoples lives and you don't even know it, big hugs to you from Downey California in the USA😎🎸🎸🤗👍🎼🎵🎵🎶
I'm certain many people can just sit there listening to you explain things in such a jovial and easy going manner... I had my mouth open the entire time 😂
Hi Helen you totally nailed the Improv, when you sang and the played those same notes. You have to play the notes that are in your head and know exactly how it will sound before you actually play them. You have to have some basic fretboard memorization for improv.
Hey Helen I loveeeee your improvisation so much I love it I play too but I am really struggling right now I can’t enjoy my playing anymore I get bored of my solos and I figured out why cuz I “noodle” there’s no input from me rather just the fingers doing there own thing and I have to learn chord tones but I don’t understand it do you have any tips that can help me understand
Excellent tutorial on improvisation! I love how you explain and show these musical ideas and techniques. You are such a brilliant guitarist! I've been playing for about 15 years and I still learned so much from watching this, thanks!
Thank you for sharing these tips, Helen. I appreciate how you start with the personal approach to playing and only after that go to the more technical parts of it. To me that's how I hear your playing also, lots of heart and just enjoyment of music, and when listening behind that I hear the technique. You're an awesome guitarist.
The ability to sing a phrase and vocalise an idea to then translate this through guitar, to me, is a level of mastery I wish to one day achieve. It was a treat seeing you perform this skill and resulted in an instant subscribe from me! Keep up the great content and look forward to more future releases :)
This is exactly what i needed to see in my guitar journey, you are an inspiration to me Helen! phenominal playing, please make more tutorials about soloing 🎸⭐
Your videos are so inspiring! I always want to pick up my guitar after watching you. Even my 5 year old kid is saying: «I want to watch the guitar lady». And he sings along with you :) Greetings from Norway :)
Thank you for making this video. You play guitar very beautiful and one of the best ive seen. I always wondered how you came up with your beautiful sound and this video helped answer my questions and will greatly help my guitar playing.
Great pointers; Jimi Hendrix and George Benson do the scatting and playing at the same time so great. I see that you are getting great and different tones out of the new Tele; so much the better! Different tonal colors!
This is good. Your video on 5 penta boxes really inspired me. I play very seldom but that helped me pick up the guitar again. I wonder about your influences. Your playing is soo sweet and soulful. I'm really "digging" your uploads. I also love the hair and that shirt
Am going to implement what you said today on my guitar when I get home. I've been stuck on the pentatonic for a long time now. Thank you so much Helen.
That's excellent Hellen Ibe, I always love the way you sound on guitar, thanks for taking out your time to explain those important tips very useful for upcoming guitarists like me I personally find them so much-needed & helpful. God bless you.
Just came from Paul Davids video, you are such a Sunshine, the Guitar Solo makes me smile throughout the video so much!! 🥰 Do you have a tutorial on how to use the Boss-gt 100? Because I bought it, but never really used it to the full potential yet! Would love to see that one day, 🥰 keep shining and making amazing music!
This lady has the gift of melody,! ... not everyone does. A friend, my first guitar teacher before I even considered playing music, said " there is a box here" , he pointed at the strings. "and you have to find the melody in that box" Well, I didn't know what he was talking about until some decades later when I retired and took up guitar.
Over my many years of music listening and artcist following, I've read some of the ways the best write music. Bob Dylan mentioned taking two different sets of instructions and writing down one-liners. John lennon, we know used Yoko's book to write Imagine. The first word in the first paragraph is.. Imagine
Okay, I'm going to try singing the intervals. I can hear them sometimes in my head, but I think that would really solidify them. Thanks so much for sharing the information.
When doing the call and response type of things it is a good idea to make the parts clearly different. I often play one part legato with a lot of hammer ons and pull offs and the other part staccato picking every note and often muting it.Often changing location on the neck too. Nice video.
I will actually have a question: What is the smartest way to know what notes to play during a backing track? I'm good at rhytmic chords creating etc, and i feel solos, but kinda blind there. What should I do to be fluent at it in the smartes way?
You are gorgeous! And you have great guitar advice--great, super gorgeous advice 😍💕💓🎸 I recommend using simpler examples which soloing beginners can play. If they can playat the level of your examples, they most likely can already solo. I basically learned a lot of musical phrases, and played them my way.
Helen....…nice lesson.... I wonna ask a question...... I still have problem with hearing correctly the chords of songs that I hear....how can I solve that?
Ibe,Helen (you)made my day in this video, especially Around Minutes 1:14-1130 of this Video when she goes: "The Lion Ate the Tiger",as if that is easily possible in real Life. She captured my attention to think: Firstly;Lions can afford a better Meal from the Natural Menu. Secondly, Tigers can defend themselves from Being eaten by a MERE Lion. But Helen made it sound so real by Improvisation. I guess that's why her Guitar playing is so Unique. And i wanna give her a KUDOS and a challenge too,or any Musician who can,to write (Compose) a song. Tittle: THE LION ATE THE TIGER if it doesn't already exit. [This can be For any Instrument soloing, but most preferably > lead Guitar is welcome(d)].

I saw you in a Fender Guitar ad, for online guitar lessons,
I could tell your light, from here !
