You have a hay loader nice I have one it is waiting for me to refurbish it. It hasn't moved in over 50 years but it still looks good. I like yours, you have a nice channel
Ethan, nice find. When I was a kid my grandfather had all the old horse-drawn plows and everything so it was kind of like going to a museum going over to his place. Thanks Michael
Gives you a real appreciation for the pace of farming MANY years ago. My Grandfathers on both sides farmed with horses years ago. Not hard to see why farms were much smaller back in the day.
@@Oliver66FarmBoy had a chance years ago to buy two of them even had the toolboxes with wrenches. They were kept inside and out of the way very nice shape.
You would of needed a simple mind,a couple babies crying of hunger along with driven and lots of determination to feed them ,and your wife in a matter of survival on your 10 arcer farm,,ya 😮
No food stamps then or snap or other means to feed them all,it was all up to you as a good father, and maybe some of your neighbors of good foutune and plenty to help those who were seen trying
Back in the 90's Dad used to have so much stuff like that it was looking like a scrapyard around here. Old dump rakes, Massey Harris potato pickers, 3 old McCormick Deering threshing machines, horse drawn hayloader, Horse powered haypress 2 JD riding plows & an ancient McCormick sickle bar mower & a Ford pickup for every decade since WWII. When he died, we auctioned it off, some went for yard art, some went to collectors & the rest went for scrap. It's surprising how much a farmer collects in a lifetime.
You proberly could of bought that in a old Sears and Roebucks mail order magazine after you pd your vendor cash , and then after he wired the money by telegraph and then to Olivers mail order Dept. It then arrived by train at your local towns train station in a couple weeks of waiting you patiently bragging to your neighbors on your new purchase
It’s interesting to see how long the horse drawn plows and equipment held on, the catalogs in the IH archives show them being built as late as the 1940s
That when men were men ,hanging on that back breaker all day with horses pulling,,i would of too, attached a seat and a set of wheels of some sort to it, after a day or so
I find it so exciting that you're going back to the good all days of plowing how many horses do you think you're gonna need to pull one of them And don't forget I think there's harnesses that goes with those to

It was my grandpas.
Got a couple. My self. Now you need two big draft horses.
I’d like to have a Clydesdale someday.
Don't engorged him to get get hay burners!!! He will. Damn cousin Ethan!!!
It's a D 99 chilled Oliver plow
No it’s an O-99.
Glad you scored them Ethan. I messed up at leseur last year. There was a j.i. case walking plow for $50& I didn't buy it. Went back & it was gone!!!
Ethan, nice find. When I was a kid my grandfather had all the old horse-drawn plows and everything so it was kind of like going to a museum going over to his place. Thanks Michael
Steve at ploworx makes blacksmith style plow bottom parts new. But my god does he charge
Nice pick, I have a single bottom Oliver ride on plow. They are getting harder to find here in Minnesota.
I think you can get new plow handles reasonable
Great old stuff. I'm glad to hear they won't get planted into yard art. I say let the Amish use them then.
Awesome find, neat old implements. Great to see where we came from to where we are today

Life was a lot harder but things were a lot simpler.
This was simply gorgeous man! Lovely atmosphere 👏👏
Nice video
I think it's great you've saved two more pieces of history. See you later.
YOUs call that junk history...
Better to keep them here than send them to China.
Nice find. Have a one row Oliver cultivator need to find a walking plow.
Horse plows are getting hard to find in any kind of condition.

Nice pick up Ethan 👍🏻glad ya rescued them🇺🇸
Cool. Shelley would probably like a draft horse to take to Rantoul with one of these. Proceed at your own peril.
there was an oliver 37 dual steel hay crimper listed for sale near me in michigan on marketplace
That's a nice looking sheppard
She’s actually a 4 way mutt.

Hook em up to your tractor and see how old tech works!!!!!
I plowedup some potatoes once in a 50 ft or so row and ket me tell ya ,i about died trying
Just checked the web. Either one of those going, $250.00 to 750..00. The 43 I saw didn't have the wheel.
Restored they bring good money in the right crowd.

More and more keeps getting sent to scrap because there isn’t any interest in it anymore
Right place, right time Farm Boy!! Good score
Yep

Did they have hickory wood handles on them,?in their day and I wonder if the main frame was painted original Oliver green?
It’s interesting to see how long the horse drawn plows and equipment held on, the catalogs in the IH archives show them being built as late as the 1940s
Most of the market for them by that point was in the south.

Probably wasn’t to bad of a job when you were only plowing 4-5 acres.
Great find have fun with the restoration can't wait.

Are you going clean up and paint them ?

So cool man
You must be a hoarder. That old stuff should've been long gone.
I see you’re still here…
