    Sir I like your style. A realistic glimpse into what it’s like to work on cars. Never trust a mechanic that doesn’t swear profusely. Thanks for the chuckle. 🍺

    Vaseline will destroy rubber over time, but it will help you get the hoses on easier. Just keep on eye on your hoses periodically if you use it or other oils and greases.

      What should I use?

    • @TheMechaninition
      @TheMechaninition  Рік тому +1

      Agreed, it can. I only use it when having a real tough time in a hard spot

    • @TheMechaninition

      Silicon lubricant is safe for most if not all rubber. I only use vaseline as a last resort. Most people have vaseline, most don't have silicon lube. Well maybe they do for other applications HAHA

      Why not just use a little bit of antifreeze? It's kinda slippery. Even just water would probably be enough, you don't need it totally slimed.

    Thanks for sharing this great idea, which I'll be using tomorrow when I install a new hose that connects from the radiator overflow tank assembly to the much dreaded engine oil cooler adapter, which gave me a lot of problems during the replacement process, but your great idea will at least make the hose installation process much easier.

    Rinse your hoses out with a bit of coolant/ water. then slip it on while it's still wet. otherwise, pretty good. Oh, well, don't get fluid on your hands/ on the outside of the hose. super slippery then.

    When he said torx vs Allen, actually Allen= hex, and torx is a star with a pin head recess which makes it a security level fastener.
