It may vary on how far the Wii U GamePad is depending on the condition of where the Wii U console is. Sunlight also affects this.

In my old house I could walk from my living room to my kitchen which literally had a pass-through between the two rooms and it would lose signal. There was also no interference

The gamepad is pretty ergonomic, but my god does it have horrendous battery life and range.
Might be able to change the battery for a bigger capacity

It's sad how much the Wii U and the Switch have had faults. The Switch especially, because at least the Wii U is from 2012 so I think we can forgive the Wii U more easily. The Switch however is from 2017 so Nintendo had no excuse. Why does the Switch have joy con drift, console warping, etc?

The higher you put your Wii U the farther you can go away from it. one of the best ways to get very good range is to put it high up on a bookshelf or on top of a entertainment center. If necessary you could get a wall mount for your console

***** thanks but iv sorted it now. There is a part you can buy for around £10 and is easy to fit yourself...took me about ten minutes max.
If it doesn't work it's because, it has to be straight in front of the Wii u, and it has to have no obstacles

Nope it still only works 4-6 feet away from the console. I had to change my set up so that I sit right next to my wii u consle
