We made shutters with natural untreated wood we bought from Home Depot. I chose the color midnight because I loved how it popped against our Yellow House. After I put the first coat of paint on, I did the second coat with one part midnight to 3 parts topcoat. I want my shutters to be sealed and protected against the elements. Chalky Chicks Topcoat is construction grade, can be used indoors or outdoors and can even be used underwater. I used a whole jar of midnight to paint my shutters, the wood absorbed all of the paint. Once they had dried we attached them to the front of our historical home. What should we paint next?
