For everyone talking about him crying, i wonder how musicians perform such emotional songs every night without doing so. Some of these songs are written about past loves, loves they had at the time and wanted to commemorate but may have lost now, or some even about death. Imagine you wrote a song about your father after his death with quotes he used to tell you every single day. Now imagine repeating his words every single night whilst remembering he will never be around to say them again, it would be rather hard not to get emotional.
The two of you that bashed this comment, yall are dumbasses and yall aren't actual musicians. I wrote a memorial song for me mom and I can't sing it that often
I wrote a song for an important person in my life who passed away a year ago, it's the hardest thing I've ever sung out and I cry everytime. So stop being assholes, If you were real musicians you would clearly understand the strength it comes to being a true indie songwriting.
Marcus Mumford is easily one of the most underrated singers around. Many dislike his voice due to the raspy-ish sound. I can tell you this much, he is one of the most talented singers this world will ever get throughout history. Much love from Sweden, that's all I can say.
You don't get half the emotion on a CD that you hear when you listen to Marcus singing acoustic. He really gives it his all. I get weepy listening to the band playing like this!
The song is sung by his younger self to his present / older self. When you realize that, the song becomes 10x better. I feel like we have all been reckless and put our future selves in bad positions :/ .
He may very well be crying. So what? The song is obviously inspired by a lost love of some sorts. Thats what got me started in music. Its a way to express emotions. Sometimes to release them. He is passionate about what he plays which is what makes him so good. And this song is simply amazing. I have songs that I play that still bring back memories of lost love that make me tear up.
Andrew Charles most meat heads act like they don't cry. All men and all women cry, whether in secrecy or out in public. Usually the people that say they don't cry had a dad that beat them
I’ve been getting really bad anxiety lately. So bad that I’ve been unable to eat, sleep, and communicate with people outside my household like I used to (even with quarantine). This genuinely made me feel so much better, so thank you :)
I don't know why, but every time I see them perform on a video live, I'm just mesmerized. Like if I look at the screen it takes all of my power just to pull my eyes away from it. Never before have I felt that strong of a pull from a band.
This is so beautiful, its what music does to you when you preform sometimes, it makes you cry. You can tell this song meant a lot to them back then and even now, and the fact that he openly showed emotion while singing it was beautiful, It makes you connect and wonder what this song could be about, and it makes you realize that artists are people too, and they live in worlds we dont know beyond when we see them and they have their own issues and lives. It gives you a split second glimpse into that world doesnt it? I love it, thank you Mumford and Sons for this.
You can tell that isn't "Just another song" to them, you can feel it in their music, see it in their faces, feel the intensity near the end, the emotion in it, the emotion in the vocals...You don't get that in alot of pop music.
I really don't know how this guy Marcus plays this guitar like a runaway train and sings along. It seems easy, but, really, try this at home and get shame on yourself as well.
All I can say is that I have seen them live once, and I am heading to Louisville in May to see them a second time.....including this next trip I have traveled 6 to 8 hours and I would travel 20...Crazy thing is, I am a metal head, but something with these guys touches my soul.
Im a child and I came across this song on the internet and I was amazed that many old things amuse new genes like this song is old but I still love it just amazing
I'd just like to point out that this was one of my favorite songs back in the day and I remember looking in the comments and seeing someone wonder if they could bite their own neck and then they made a little story about it
The lead singer is amazing, but I'm a little worried he's going to die of the world's most epic heart attack in the middle of every song. No one can put that much awesome into one voice. The human body can't take it.
This song hits me right on the feels, both lyrics and musically. These guys are easily one of my favorite bands, for the sake of having such soul and determination, and such a powerful dynamic.
one of the most powerful well written and produced songs/video in the last 10-20 years! It's perfect amazing and just right, right on a way that right should be
Honestly mate i believe that its both, he is going hard with this song because he has a red face and he is just going at a wicked speed, but you can hear the emotion he tries to push out of himself, you can hear the braking point in that voice, he is a man and men are allowed to cry so truthfully i believe he is crying and also sweating
these guys gave me back my faith in music, no generic crap, not another indieband, just great great GREAT musicians. Thank God for propper musical talent (not wasted in crappy talentshows)
dude is he crying at the end? this was so intense! great job. Discovered this song recently... Love every single world in it. Love the emotions! Thanks guys x
I confess that less than 9 years ago, I had heard Little Lion Man by Mumford & Sons enough times on a local metropolitan Washington DC radio station to where this meaningful folk rock alternative rock song grew on me.
Just listened to this song while lyrics on side, defining every word, and finally learned what this song is really saying. Sad, beautiful but strangely lovely.
I just feel such love and passion in their music, and he has such a unique voice. I really enjoy the intense guitar that goes with the rest of the instruments so smoothly. GREAT BAND!
You did something that I believe to be a historic moment in UA-cam history. Whatever it was you said, you have shown that you are a real man; not some little, trifling, childish troll.
i have been searching for this song and The Cave since I landed in Hawaii and heard them on the radio there for the first time. Ecstatic that I finally found them and didn't have a clue that the two songs I was looking for are by the same band. Love their music and hope they keep it up and never change their style
I don't really think that they're at t her top because where I live may not be the same for you but I had never of them until I started listening to Pandora
Lemme guess you listen to rap which shouldn't even be considered music its just mumbling and speaking fast with audio in the back notice how 16 year olds and such get popular in rap? Without that much practise as they're only 16 shows how much talent you need to be good at such a shit sounding thing
I miss when Mumford and sons made this style of music. They got me through some of the worst depression of my life and helped me to feel again. I like their new stuff but their folk rock was where their hearts truly layed
just herd the band the other night on SNL and they were alsome a new big fan from nj keep it it up very impress with the band and rythem great song.....
i have been listening to this 1 song for 2 days straight, it gets in my dreams, it gets in my every thought, i cant even think about my girl friend, and it is so worth it
For everyone talking about him crying, i wonder how musicians perform such emotional songs every night without doing so. 181Burnout As a musician myself, you are an idiot.
The two of you that bashed this comment, yall are dumbasses and yall aren't actual musicians. I wrote a memorial song for me mom and I can't sing it that often
Actually only one was bashing. I was making fun of him.
I wrote a song for an important person in my life who passed away a year ago, it's the hardest thing I've ever sung out and I cry everytime. So stop being assholes, If you were real musicians you would clearly understand the strength it comes to being a true indie songwriting.
+Joey Wittke it's called emotional investment.

Much love from Sweden, that's all I can say.
***** Stupid? Do you have something against Swedes?
Axel Johansson well said
I just love the sound and true one of the most talented but underrated singers in modern times my favorite being this song
People just don't like it because it sounds like bluegrass and to them bluegrass is for "old people" or something stupid
this video is the defenition of very talented men
No one is going to talk about how he liked your comment
This version is hands down my favorite
Ikr
Haha to me this is the official version
It Is Said. Musicians. Given a corner.
Will make The Mf'n Most, out of that little bit of Corner .
So sad that is my first time viewing this. I shed tears to this. By far the best performance of this song I have ever seen.
better late than never, but yes I came here to the same on the lowest of keys
Copy Paste from me, 8yrs on.
This version gets me every single time. You can literally see, hear and feel the emotion that their music renders. Sends shivers down my spine.
You don't get half the emotion on a CD that you hear when you listen to Marcus singing acoustic. He really gives it his all. I get weepy listening to the band playing like this!
i have no clue what he wrote this song about, but you can hear just how much it really means
He wrote this song about me. He didn't know at the time, but this song is for me, about me.
The song is sung by his younger self to his present / older self. When you realize that, the song becomes 10x better. I feel like we have all been reckless and put our future selves in bad positions :/ .

"I have songs that I play that still bring back memories of lost love that make me tear up. " we all do i think. Some good, some bad of course.
I’ve been getting really bad anxiety lately. So bad that I’ve been unable to eat, sleep, and communicate with people outside my household like I used to (even with quarantine). This genuinely made me feel so much better, so thank you :)
I had problems with crying. Now I finally feel it. Thank you.

LOVE THIS SONG
he also plays a bass drum and pedal tam with his feet at the same time
Daniel Morales
He just puts his whole fucking soul in it. I think this song is all he is in that very moment and that's his secret.
It's actually not that hard if you practice but it is pretty difficult at first man.
Love this song
All I can say is that I have seen them live once, and I am heading to Louisville in May to see them a second time.....including this next trip I have traveled 6 to 8 hours and I would travel 20...Crazy thing is, I am a metal head, but something with these guys touches my soul.
He kills me. He starts to cry and his voice cracks and it's the most adorable thing I've ever seen.
Pure emotion at the end of the song.... You don't see a lot of that anymore. GOD BLESS MUMFORD AND SONS
2023, anyone still here? I listen this on repeat. So beautiful
Best song ever
Was Marcus crying? Jesus christ thats what I call emotion...
If you listen closely you can hear his voice crack as the tears come. Pretty amazing!
Im a child and I came across this song on the internet and I was amazed that many old things amuse new genes like this song is old but I still love it just amazing
This is one of those songs that can bring you to tears with a smile

The lead singer is amazing, but I'm a little worried he's going to die of the world's most epic heart attack in the middle of every song. No one can put that much awesome into one voice. The human body can't take it.

This is LIVE like i still can't believe how good they are and i've been here since lover of the light
dude is he crying at the end? this was so intense! great job.
I listen to Rap - But this is one of my all time favorite songs
Adam Mok same here
They are the kind of musicians where I'd prefer hearing them LIVE and raw rather than on some audio, auto-tuned machine with too many rhythms.
Omg... of course!!!
10 year anniv in 2 days. 10 years of loving these guys
one of the most powerful well written and produced songs/video in the last 10-20 years! It's perfect amazing and just right, right on a way that right should be
It even makes my eyes sweat even more when the performers eyes sweat
Was that sweat or tears at the end? I couldn't tell.
Tears
Canadian Dovahkiin clearly the trolliest comment I've ever seen.
wizkida981015 tears
Honestly mate i believe that its both, he is going hard with this song because he has a red face and he is just going at a wicked speed, but you can hear the emotion he tries to push out of himself, you can hear the braking point in that voice, he is a man and men are allowed to cry so truthfully i believe he is crying and also sweating

They deserve every fan they have they write honest music that they are passionate about. amazing band
I love watching all the emotion in they infuse into their songs - their passion makes it all the more beautiful to watch.
I just watched the "Tonight Alive" version and I have to say that this was the biggest peace of sh*t I've ever heard.

+jarad Smethers seriously man. It's amazing.

Adapt?
I just feel such love and passion in their music, and he has such a unique voice. I really enjoy the intense guitar that goes with the rest of the instruments so smoothly. GREAT BAND!
To be able to keep singing as amazingly as he did whilist crying shows how talented he is!
Was in cynical mood that day sorry everyone.
You did something that I believe to be a historic moment in UA-cam history. Whatever it was you said, you have shown that you are a real man; not some little, trifling, childish troll.

Ecstatic that I finally found them and didn't have a clue that the two songs I was looking for are by the same band. Love their music and hope they keep it up and never change their style
how do these crappy cliche of a bands make it up to the top
I don't really think that they're at t her top because where I live may not be the same for you but I had never of them until I started listening to Pandora

What a great band. His voice really works with the song style and implementation.
My love for this song will never end
I love Mumford and Sons!!!
They're the best music group ever!!!!!!!!
It's so crazy how passionate they are when they perform. I freakin loooove these guys!
i think what makes me like Mumford and Sons so much is that they really get into their music. Makes it soo good.
Listen to this and listener all day and your set to have one hell of a good day to yourself!
I like how this Mumford and Sons show lots of emotion while they play compared to lots of other bands today.
These guys go extremely hard in their performances and I’m here for it
This has to be the best song I have heard, ever since it first came out I loved it
It is not possible to find any other band than this who can play as beautifully and flawlessly as mumford and sons
It's my favorite song ever. Again, i can't describe what I feel when i listen to this. It's unbelievable.
dude is he crying at the end? this was so intense! great job.
this song makes my heart happy
this song makes my heart happy
the emotion they all put into singing is simply beautiful
I cant stop watching this. It shows so much emotion
I miss when Mumford and sons made this style of music. They got me through some of the worst depression of my life and helped me to feel again. I like their new stuff but their folk rock was where their hearts truly layed
This made me love the song more. The way he sang the last chorus was awesome.
I started playing the banjo because of these guys and I am now the only banjo player in my state in the age-group of 14-18.
love, love, love this song...and this version is my favorite, i think.
just herd the band the other night on SNL and they were alsome a new big fan from nj keep it it up very impress with the band and rythem great song.....
I love the bookstore sessions. So beautiful and love the acoustics..
He wants you to feel the emotion he does! he wants you to enjoy the time and emotion he put into the song.

There is no band in the world who makes such beautiful music like these guys.
i have been listening to this 1 song for 2 days straight, it gets in my dreams, it gets in my every thought, i cant even think about my girl friend, and it is so worth it
So much passion in this song. Marcus is awesome
I have loved this song for so long but I just found this session a few weeks ago and I love it
And he was crying at the end... powerful. gave me goosebumps.
Great song. So much emotion, such deep lyrics. What doesn't this song have?
Everything about this band is just pure amazing.
