I shattered mine also while running through the airport to catch a flight it fell from my hand. I caught the flight and had no choice but to go to the Apple Store in the city I was visiting. Thank God there was an Apple Store and I had Apple Care+. The Apple Store took my shattered one and gave me a replacement. My vacation was continued happily!!
I’ve never been one to buy AppleCare or any other device insurance. But in the last year or two I’ve been considering it, especially given the rising prices to repair or replace. I was on the edge for of whether to get Apple Care for my next iPad - I think you may have swayed me to yes.
I've dropped an iPad 4 (in a cover) at least 3 times and nothing happened to it. - They should make their glass stronger. Problem is that there was no protection on the corners in this case. My cover did. Even though it also popped out of the cover upon impact.
Glad you didn’t have the same as me - mine was definitely just a mistake and on the worst ground possible for it. That’s why I’m glad it wasn’t 10x the price to fix it!
Didn’t buy it for a 9.7 Pro and then had issues with the lightning port and was in a similar boat. Managed to find a random odd brand cable that would charge it still. But my 12.9 has Apple care

I agree. If it rarely leaves your house, it isn't worth it. But if you're like me and bring it with you everywhere, you're bound to drop it eventually and insurance is definitely worth it.

So this might seem a little dumb and mean to say(i thought id suggest it though), but my little brother has a child proof case on his ipad and i swear that thing is magical it looks like a floation device on his ipad though, so it really bulky so if you dont like bulky foam cases that stand up on their own, then definitely buy apple care! However hes never broken his ipad so thats great and im sure hes dropped it many time!
I work in a hospital- hard tile floors over concrete. Pure poison to dropped electronic devices. I buy Apple Care Plus on ALL my portable devices. Not only will it be less costly to repair if I drop and shatter a screen; it provides immediate peace of mind after that “Oh, sh*t!” moment when you drop phone or iPad. For me, that’s the value. No panic, no stress.

Actually if you have your iPad Pro placed in a durable case and temper glass screen protector installed. When you drop it on the hard wooden, your screen protector might or will shatter but it saved yours from shattering the main screen. The official Apple cases are a ripoff, they gave no protection but instead with a hefty price tag! I didn’t buy Apple care but because my iPhone 11 is protected with the screen and with the case in it. When I dropped it, it only had scuff mark and paint chipped on the protective case and the protective screen didn’t shatter because I have another hard plastic cover covering the screen.
This is why i bought third party cases, cuz i doubt that this will actually protect your ipad from real damages, they really want you to buy alple care

Well I never bought Apple care and bought an iPad Pro 10.5 back in 2017. It’s 2020 and it randomly decides to stop working and when I brought it in they realized that it was a hardware issue. Never cracked the screen, no cracks or dents because I use it for work... and they expect me to pay $500 for it to repair a 3 year old device caused by the horrible hardware issues they have in the products long term. I think they don’t build quality hardware on purpose otherwise they wouldn’t make money with Apple care and upgrading to new devices. So it doesn’t matter if you took care of your product when they give less than two year warranty on an over $500 product. It’s really a gamble with these greedy people.
I was in a hurry one morning going to work and with my arms full set my iPad on the hood of my truck to open the door and like an idiot completely forgot about my iPad until I was a 1/4 of a mile down the road. The iPad had fallen off and I unknowingly ran over the corner of it and of course broke the screen and bent the case a little. Fortunately I did have Apple Care and got it replaced for $49. That would have been a complete nightmare otherwise.
Shop around on extended warranties, there's Upsie, Square Trade and the ones that AT&T, and the other companies like USAA offer. In the end I bought the 2 year Apple Care plue plan for my IPhone SE 2020

In my experience it is always worth it. Literally anything can go wrong in 2 years and you'll wish you did once it happens. Almost every time I purchased Apple Care I needed it within the 2 years. It's hella expensive for the MacBook but literally anything goes wrong and it pays off.

I bought another iPad thinking the broken one was now trash, I got home with the new one and started getting my stuff off the broken one when I noticed the broken one was still under the “ LIMITED “ warranty. DAM It , I take the broken one to the Apple store a half hour away to see if I can get it fixed. Nope it has to be replaced and since I didn’t have the Apple care it would be $ 499. You keeping count ? I’m now $ 1900. Into a broken useless iPad. As I’m sitting there thinking who may want a NEW IPad Pro 11 for Christmas. I tell the sales guy I just bough one to replace it. He says just bring the first new one back and they will refund my $ 1400. Finally some good news. So now i’m only $ 499. Plus the Apple care bucks in the hole. Public service announcement. BUY THE APPL CARE. I now have 2 years to break this second new one twice and only pay $ 49. Yeah that did suck... wish I would have been my work Ipad.... Thanks

My iPad Pro just quit. It quit , completely. Bringing it to Apple tonight. I have Apple care. 12.9 512g with cellular. Not cheap at all. Let’s see what they do. Called Apple to get tech support, they made an appointment for me to check it out. They said they’d replace it, no cost. Will it be the same 2018 model or the new model? Not sure. We’ll see.

You don't need no BS apple care bro. If you were smart you would have used your credit card to purchase your ipad pro and you could claim the cost to replace the ipad pro to your credit card company. Take advantage of the 1 year extended warranty that your credit card company offers.

You should also mention that Apple has a way for you to pay monthly instead of a larger amount upfront. I believe my Ipad Pro coverage is $5.99/month for 2 years vs $130 upfront for 2 years. So I will end up paying an extra $14 over 24 months but I don't mind since i just crushed my bank account buying the new Ipad Pro and Apple Pencil. Also Applecare + for the Ipad automatically includes the peripherals - in this case the ipad pencil.
Max that Apple Care is just the basic warranty and comes free with the purchase of the device I believe. It does not cover accidents like in this situation. What he is really referring to is the additional accidental coverage called Apple Care + which does cover accidents.
