Pretty fair points! Personally I buy AppleCare on all my devices because I like the peace of mind of knowing I'm going to have a working device for a set amount of time. Sometimes silicon can just go bad, especially SSD's. However, when the upfront coverage goes out, I take my chances and don't renew it. Of course, being so loyal to AppleCare, I've actually yet to need to use it. 😂

In my opinion AppleCare is some of the best in the business and I haven't had any bad encounters at the Genius Bar or on the phone with Apple and they were keen to help me out. I agree with you on having the peace of mind of having AppleCare on as many devices as possible. These are premium products and when they break it's not a cheap fix.

Very insightful and helpful information, however, still deciding on whether to purchase AppleCare for our MacBook Pro, especially , since we do not travel with the device....

just for the math for users - AppleCare is $299. Add in $299 accidental deductible = you've paid almost $600 for that piece of mind if you had use it. What was the FULL price of the battery repair? $160 + $120 for service $280 for the battery is STILL less than the AppleCare. What does it mean? Like insurance you can win or loose. You can be your OWN insurance - basically up to $600 - at min we see at least up to the cost of AppleCare at $300. The truth with these Extended warranties (working for a company that up-sells them for extra profit). MOST people will NOT use them (thus they are great for companies bottom line - yes nice if you ave it when you might need to use it but chances are you WONT and even in your example with the battery you were no better or worse off out of pocket - so yes it was covered but even if you had to pay, it was still even the same arena.

You need to have 80% or less to guarantee battery replacement. Glad the tech was nice and did it though

one thing is weird in the EU, cos we have 2 years of warranty for any product bought in the EU , so Apple care is only adding one Year here ( total 3 years ) and they charge us the same price as in the US for only 1 additionnal year of coverage.... not cool

One think I like about the EU is the consumer protection laws seems to be a lot stronger than here in the US. From my perspective it seems like the government is on the side of large corporations like Apple... but that's a story for another day,

@@dell1032 yeah it one positive thing about EU , but sincerely it is falling appart, because EU representatives aren"r elected and most national laws of France or Germany etc are below EU laws , and a lot of these are hatmful to EU citizens.... so it's not perfect at all. but yeah they figtth more for safety and transparency or monopoly in general than the USA.
