Honestly I think they both sound good, I can't really say one is inferior to the other on an artistic level, in part because I don't know shit about what goes into making good music, I guess if you're nostalgic to the original you're more likely to prefer it, but the remix is not bad at all, one could even argue it's better than the original in some ways, this isn't anythihg like the underwhelming Final Fantasy 10 rescoring, they actually went through the effort of making a good new rendition of the soundtrack.
I don’t agree with the Fans at this point that this Version sounds not as good as the old version both are good but both sound a little bit different. 10/10 video. Whenever im in the mood to listen to the kh2 soundtrack, i always go OG. Lots of songs just sound so much better like the obviously this song, the world menu area, and Dance to the Death.
One does not remix Twilight Town, it is the perfect melody. it'll make you feel nostalgic for something you never experienced, you'll feel like you're revisiting a childhood place after many years passed even though it's your first time there. It'll make you remember what you have forgotten, feel what you have ignored. It'll give you that feeling of having someone you care about hug you without you expecting it, someone telling you that you matter when you're doubting yourself.

It's less about it being an orchestra vs midi, but more of them putting emphasis on different interments and changing the key of other like the world select map and rising tension for some odd reason
I’ve always loved the twilight town music. I was a hella young kid when I was playing KH2, the game came out in 05 I think right? I was born 02 so for as long as I could remember this tune has been with me. I loved to mess around in twilight town just so I could listen to it and relax, amazing times for sure :)
THANK YOU! So many tracks were killed in the remakes. Absent silhouette, Desire for all that is lost and Darkness's of the Unknown are similar casualties.
I felt absolutely nothing for the II.5 version, but the second the II version started playing I felt.. I don't know.. Like that moment in a game when a characters eyes sparkle.
The guitar melody in the remix imo is amazing and really lives up to the songs namesake but then again the original is also just beautiful Couldn't say which one I prefer honestly
I was like that with Enter the Darkness. At one point, they gave it an extra note and it sounded weird. I think it was one of the concert versions. They seemed to make it better for KH3
Honestly I love KH as a whole, I have since my dad convinced me to get the first 1 when it came out....I did NOT want to like it but fell in love. KH 2 is my personal favorite, KH BBS second and then KH3. KH3 storywise was eh but tbh I fell in love with KH for diff reasons, gameplay, the boss fights, and just the creativity with the fights...3 was super underwhelming till crit mode and Remind/Limit cut which introduced the strongest bosses I've faced in KH but KH2 is still King.
@@kriegnes disagree, the wait/build-up between mainline installments and the hype and the trailers revealing way too much made KH3 underwhelming and disappointed many fans but it isn't a bad game in itself. I feel like people getting into the series fresh will enjoy it more than someone who played the original games on PS2 and had to wait til the PS4 for KH3
@@kriegnes Yeah I hear what you are saying, story and game overall was mid but I still enjoyed the game for what it was and the dlc remedied a lot of problems for me then again a lot of ppl didn't play the dlc compared to the main game. As someone who has been playing this series for 20 years now I can tell you that the one thing the game did right was introduce hard bosses in the dlc and that was like literally it, I'm still salty over no FF Characters in the story and no Sephiroth boss battle.
@@heartlessangelrdk I agree, feels wrong to have a mainline KH game without FF characters (outside of DLC) and a Sephiroth boss fight, I feel like if Critical Mode and Limit Cut (perhaps done a bit more elegantly) was released with the main game then it'd be a whole different story. Also it would be nice if Disney let Nomura fulfill his vision for Arendelle
@@ryapowa Yeah and like I understand that the FF characters are not the main focus of the game but (incoming bad analogy) its like that ep of Spongebob with the pickles "You forgot the pickles!" Imo the remastered soundtracks are the definitive versions for KH 1 and 2 music. That being said, I respect your choice of liking the originals more than the remastered tracks.
I think about 75% of the songs in the ReMixes are improvements across the board, but god damn certain OG tracks really hit. I think the thing that the Remixes lack is the hard hitting percussion of the OG, as well as making a few tracks too busy. Other than that I really appreciate how good the organic instrumentation sounds, it works so well for most tracks.
This is so true! I actually prefer some of the remix from the originals but this is so true! Even listening to the Re:Chain of Memories version is more similar to KH2 than KH2 final mix.
Not me getting teary over a literal meme video, this is more evidence of the chokehold these games do and will always have on me, ugh, this song especially is just a suckerpunch right to the tenderest part of my heart 😢
To me the original’s guitar midi was more focused on artificially creating a strumming sound, which left the rhythm rather simple and metronomic. It’s also why I like the guitar in the remastered version. Since they weren’t trying to (and presumably didn’t need to with more advanced audio tech) manually replicate strumming, this let them use a slightly more complex, syncopated rhythm that is a lot nicer on the ears. And as the song progresses the overall balance between all the instruments is a lot nicer in the remaster. Not saying anyone is wrong for liking the original. Just stating why I, especially as a musician, really appreciate the remaster.
Wow, I thought I was the only one who felt this way towards the new songs, I still love them but I have been listening to the OGs for years and years even when final mix was around for a long time. I felt like a lot of songs got better HD orchestration in the Final mix versions but they are also softer, like take the Hollow Bastion song in Kh1, listen to final mix first, then the original. The original sounds cooler and more intimidating and in your face. The final mix makes it a lot softer and quieter.
I agree. I get it that they're trynna make a different variant of it, but to remake something out of an already perfect masterpiece is hard
