- We're back with Wrrooooooooonnng Way! In this video, Adam teaches Lukas how to ride backwards, ride up stairs, and pendulum. @mr_wrongway
I'm 58 years old and I am on day seven of learning! Today I didn't crash! 😂
Winning!!!
Yay friends again!
FRANNNNDSSS AGAAAAAANNNNN
Wait how did that happen. We need closure!
@@alihalabi222 that's the magic of breakfast at Denny's apparently lol
So learning to pendulum last winter, turned out to be the single most crucial addition to my riding skills. It affected every aspect of riding in that it trained me on how much and when to swing my arms, and really get my whole body involved when riding. This led to greater stability with every turn and carve, uneven or wet terrain, and being able to PIVOT on the hardest trail sections. So so valuable, and increased the fun factor 1000%.
Also, working on it is a great core workout and you only need about a 4ft square of space to do it. Crazy.
Yeah honestly after this video and levelling up a few times during this video, I have seen a pretty big improvement in my ability to ride on this type of terrain you mention! For some reason I didn't even think about that, but what a welcome bonus!
Any tips? This is what I want to learn, I won’t be riding backwards that much (for safety)..but I’m thinking I can do this while waiting for the red light to go green (sometimes it’s stop and go every 2 meters
@@Cons2911 well how I did it is starting on the corner of my deck, using the railings to grab if needed, and gradually increasing the amount of time rocking back and forth each day. The main thing is just doing it every day, even if it's just for 5 minutes. It really works the body at first, now it's effortless, like riding. After I was able to feel comfortable doing it on the deck, when riding even if there was no traffic at an intersection, I'd try and pendulum at 30% of stops. Now I just do it when needed, or when I've been riding forward for too long and just need to change things up.
@@TimTimEUC trying to learn this and backward riding now its driving me crazy! but as you said it seems to be an incredibly important technical skill. Hopefully it will click in the next week or two.
Awesome for so many reasons, better together! I was inspired to ride at 52 by Wrong way and learned to ride at Eevees one Saturday just this summer and went on to buy my wheel there. You guys are great!
It's great to hear that there's another 'not so young' rider out there.
I'm 60 on my first wheel and loving it. :)
I love it! Thanks for the support and for inspiring the older folks to push their comfort zone! :)
@@julianandyvonne yes!
It's was nice talking to you guys that day, I was the guy on the V11. I hope to see more collabs!
Ayyyye! I remember! haha thanks for the comment :)
Wonderful and great to see the collaboration. Thanks to both of you.
Thanks!
Aww glad you guys worked it out! Thank you both for the awesome content been trying to ride backwards myself, very helpful much love!
Glad it helped you! And I’m also glad it worked out 😌😌
Try using ski poles, or broom sticks in my case, to learn backwards. It helps a lot. But, then you have to kick the pole habit, which is like quitting smoking.
@@lukastanasiuk5722 😁❤🤙
I don't know when this was recorded but if this means you're cooperating again that would be great news
They are cooperating again although it was filmed before
@@virshots8070 nope! It was filmed yesterday 😊
All is well! Adam and I filmed this yesterday!
Or wait, Sunday… hahaha
@@lukastanasiuk5722 nice! Great news man hope it's all uphill from here
This actually makes me feel better about having so much trouble going backwards considering it only took me half an hour to learn to ride forward
So happy to see you guys work stuff out ❤️
Meeee TOO! Happy it all happened before Adam went home for the holidays! Definitely didn't expect that to happen, so a very welcome surprise!
the sweet reconciliation and best backward tips I've seen in a video (so excited to try tomrrow). it's a double happiness
I'm double grateful for this comment :)
Love it glad you guys are sorted all better for the community
aaaaaaamen
This is what I think we all wanted to see! A definite win for the community Well done fellas 👍👍👍
I'm definitely counting this as a big win for sure! :)
This is just what I needed.
I've had my wheel for just over a month now and 1000 km.
This has given me the push I needed to learn to ride backwards and conquer stairs.
Thanks guys. :)
ahh man I love it! That's exactly why we made this! Let me know how the practice goes! :)
1000km! nice! I get my wheel a couple weeks and I'm training yet. Today I did reach the 40km
@@lukastanasiuk5722 I've been practicing on an MTen3. I'm up to riding around in circles and nearly where I want to go! 😂
More practice needed.
Just passed the 2k according to the wheel.
I'll need to change the tyre soon. I've already go a shinko 241.
I'm loving the ease of maintainence on the S22
Awesome! Now everyone is adult! Keep making those cool videos guys!
So glad to see you guys back together
thanks man, me too!
Great to see you guys chilling together again!
Tell me about it! 😌
I love all three of you, even with the talking heads. ❤
haha thanks :P
Great video guys! Even if you are not something that will last forever, together you have some chemistry going on and that's nice and educational to watch. Respect first!
Big respect for Adam, always! '
If you want to learn to go backwards and to pendulum with no stress all you need to do is practice going forward very slow on gravel or a looser surface than asphalt. As you go forward practice twisting your body left and right making the wheel do small pivotal turns. Getting comfortable twisting your body hard left and right builds the confidence and muscle memory needed to pendulum and go backwards. Before you know it you’ll feel comfortable and have the skills to ride backwards and it will be a natural transition.
hmmmmm interesting take!
This was great, both to see the training and that you’re friends again.👍
Couldn't agree more :)
I agree with Lukas when he said the wall is cool but i just wanted to do it, thats what happened to me when i first jumped on a EUC as well. it all clicked when the person teaching me was just like, look forward not down, and that was it i was hooked and cruising forward! nice video guys, glad to see the healing starting!
Hahaha yeah! Didn't work as well for me when going backwards but still... It's all I wanted to do!
It took me about 8 hard hours to really get comfortable backwards. My best advice and the key for me was to think with your feet. Going straight backwards is actually quite difficult because eventually you will need to correct your balance as you start off slow. This is the most difficult part. If you think with your feet, and do something like a mini carve, you get the motions of correcting balance much easier.
Either start by mounting going backwards or going forwards then transitioning. The latter was easier for me. Once you start going backwards, think with your feet and push down on one heel, say your left, then with your right. You end up doing mini carves backwards. This allows you to get the body movements down and go slow at the same time.
It's not perfect, but that's where it clicked for me. Then you can start to build speed and begin turning your head, etc. And of course riding straight. For short distances, like a pendulum, this method isn't necessary, but for longer than a few feet, it may help.
Appreciate the added help!
Yeah. This is good to see fellas.
Everything.
Thank you.
Thankyou for putting yourself out there & creating a real vid.❤
Glad to see y’all worked things out.
meeee too brother
Nice!! ✌🏼
it's great for the community to see you both together and the conversation and good vibes are/seem genuine...maybe in 2023 adam and the rest of the eevee's team will ride together too 🤞
definitely! we would have all ridden together for this video, but I was the only one available to shoot and we had to do it before Adam went back home for Xmas!
Great video. Funny how I can feel my muscles and nerves firing when watching this, while trying to relax in a chair lol
hahaha i have that all the time when I watch climbing footage!
Cool y'all get to meeting awsm❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
I really appreciate you guys doing this for the community. Adam has crazy skills. This motivates me to work on becoming a more complete rider.
Thanks, Justin :)
It’s a beautiful thing!!❤
Subbed! Never too late to forgive and move on!
Great video, look forward to the next collaboration!
Thanks Bardi :)
So nice to see! Great lesson!❤
thank u thank u thank u!
Congratulations on the collaboration.
Thank you!!! I'm at my learning backwards and pendulums stage. This has been an amazing video. 👏
Exceptional ~ wheelie nice indeed
Teeehehehehehe
Best instructional on this EVER. So many skimp on detail and actual video of the learning progress. Thanks Good to see a “newbie” perspective as Adam can make it look ridiculously easy (although I’m sure his first attempts were similar)
damn bro that backwards acceleration was inspiring those turns too could really save your ass
Can you film one of your classes? I haven't figured out how to teach my friends yet.
Nice you guys made it! Greetings from Germany. I still have to ride my EUC in stealth mode here...
I was just in Frankfurt last week and immediately fell in love with Germany! And they say Frankfurt isn't even one of the 'fun cities'.... I can't imagine what Berlin is like!
Glad u guys are copacetic now. I can ride backwards on an mten4 but i cannot go backwards on a larger wheel. Another caveat is that i have to look over my right shoulder only or i cannot do it. Its pretty much all about balance and persistance. Try a smaller one first. Not sure if it will transfer over to larger wheels but it might.
It certainly doesn't transfer for me! backwards on the tiny wheels is a breeze and the second I go past a V8, it's ridiculously hard :/ just gotta stay persistent!
Oh, I also found out, it was more using pressure on your heels to go back, rather than leaning. I mean, you lean back too, but it's more about the heels controlling it.
he was trying to teach me that but i think i just need like 5 more hours of practice to make it all come together haha
iv been injured for 3 weeks now and this makes me wanna get out there and practice. love practicing videos 🤙🏼
You'll be out there in no time!
This feels weird after watching the drama video but glad everything worked out.
It’s nice to see so many positive comments on here but I’m with you… this feels like helping a friend out of an abusive relationship and then next thing you know they’re back there pretending everything is great. Makes me feel uneasy.
@@ek-nz 100% agree I have the same uneasy feeling
Sick team!
Yo. This made me so happy!! ♥️
I haven't really tried learning to ride backwards yet... but I remember when I was first learning to ride forwards being frustrated because I found it easier to go backwards while holding onto somebody's hand while going forwards seemed nearly impossible.
sounds like you need to take a crack at it!
I taught myself to pendulum by first, learning how ride and do a figure 8 backwards, then, riding really really S L O W in both directions in a controlled manner (no twist saves or swinging arms everywhere) this would be slow, looking at the sights walking speed. Once you master the art of the snail, then you can do smooth, tight pendulums for the entire duration of a stoplight. If you look at performers on 5 foot manual unicycles, juggling pins at the same time, they do pendulums this way, while tossing juggling pins to their other partner on another unicycle.
that is great advice!
Respect for the backwards stair run
I need to practice this but as far as riding downstairs I'll need a wheel with suspension for that I have a nikola so I'm not sure because it doesn't have suspension thanks for the lesson!
down stairs backwards on a Nikola is the thing nightmares are made of :P hahaha
For me the trick to start riding backwards and be able to correct the trajectory was to bend the knees as much as possible so I don't block/lock and fall on one side
duly noted!
Great way to show how-tos without watering it down with fake excitements and advertising. Thanks!
It's great to see you guys back together!
When started learning backwards riding I didn't use powerpads. I found that moving my feet back ½ to 1 inch helped to learn it faster cuz I was more centered on the wheel. It helps with the pendulum as well.
Adam keep doing it the wrong way and Eevee's keep doing it the Canadian way aka the right way! Lol
Riding backwards on the Veteran Abrams is on my bucketlist.
Sooo true about the mten not counting 😂 i can go back on that but not with my big wheels... this years goal 🤞
solid advice here!
I learned backward riding for two weeks half an hour a day. Zero progress lmao
Sik killer...great video!
Yaaaay the sounds works this time
I last put backwards time on the RS. It may have been too much for me...i may try again on the V10F.
I tried the railing method. It seems the easiest way forward... my problem is making the wheel go where i want it to go! I'll feel it veer left-i can't correct it. I'll try again with the smaller wheel
I learned how to ride backwards while i was trying to balance in place. At the begining with no looking backwards, then with "vision". It's not that hard, just need practice. Actually that is preaty important skill - imo. it is entrance skill for "fast turning direction in the fly".
kinda wish this was filmed differently, instead of just holding a 360 camera. feels more like a vlog
For me, I had to remove the power pads first, because I was dropping it a lot. I was on grass, and dropped it A LOT. Then I tried broom sticks, and I got it in 20 minutes. I can ride the length of my yard, but still don't feel good enough to go on pavement. And then I still have to drop the poles.
as a normal unicycle rider, there's a third way to go up stairs, but probably not for wheels with big batteries..
unicycle riders can pendulum or hop in front and on the stairs, and jump up and sideways on each one individually (pulling up and sideways on the seat) it's tiring, but you can clear it without speed.
When learning from your video, it would be helpful to get some shots where the camera person is not moving and maybe some shots with a regular camera instead of purely using the insta 360. This way, we can notice more about the subject.
Are these skills easier to learn on lighter / nimbler or heavier / stabler wheels? Trying to decide whether to practice on my V11 or Master.
Same thing here, the master or my 16X. Trying to stay off the king song as I'm still new with the master and they are so different to ride.
@@noelleonard2498 Yeah it's surprising how different they are!
Valiant.
What was the drama?
I ride EUC for 3 1/2 years, have done over 20.000 km and still can't go backwards for more than a couple meters or do pendulum.
I haven’t ridden that long but hopefully you can be inspired from my rookie ass learning a bit this video 😅
Borrow an mten and learn on that. It's like real life cheat codes and it translates to bigger wheels.
Looks like you both have sorted everything out! I don't know if this means there will be future partnerships between the two of you but I do hope so!!!
With regards to going backwards, I think it's a lot easier to learn with a smaller wheel. Because you can perform more drastic corrections and have much more leverage over the wheel. I've ridden backwards before for tens of metres on my V10F but I have not tried on my Veteran Sherman, too scared, hahaha.
I also don't think it's a good idea to push off something because you will shift your center of gravity when you do that. It's better to just ride away from whatever you're holding onto.
Where are they riding right now?
I want to ride in foreign cities so bad but I can't exactly take my EUC on a plane... right?? because of the batteries? or is there a way to travel overseas with them?
Even if this was filmed in USA or CA where is this located?
This is in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Unfortunately you cannot fly with EUCs unless you remove the batteries and ship them separately to your destination.
I find what helps me ride backwards is to stick my butt in the direction I want to go
I'm thinking if I buy one to learn and ride backwards first, then logically speaking riding forward should be easy, no?
Was this video filmed in Warsaw, Poland?
Never mind - I believe that the video was filmed in Vancouver, Canada.
New video idea: outdoor table tennis on Eucs
I think you guys forgot to mention it, but everyone please monitor your motor temperature in euc world while learning backwards
kinda obvious since constant braking will up the temperature very fast
I don't know how hot euc's can safely get because i'm new but mine got to 66c before I took a break, much higher than my 45c average when riding
but anyways i'm on my 3rd day, this is so awkward, much harder than learning normal euc riding😭hoping to be as good as ww one day
Nice❤
Don’t look down! Just saying 😊
Is Luke's S22 called M.J. as in Mary Jane, because it's a redhead?
Is this old.footage?
Nah we made up and filmed this on Sunday! 😊
Whew, nice to see you guys made up.
🤙🤘🧡
Do you guys know of any US made wheels?
Who is going to be the first one to full send the lyon25 though? That would put us on the map. And the wheel would have to be a freaking tank
👍
Get on the mten4 for the easiest backward...soo grreat!
❤
Mten is the best wheel to learn backwards riding.
Been struggling for a year and then suddenly it made sense.
15:03 it seems to have helped quite a few people I know. Sorry to hear it hasn't helped you.
Totally! But honestly the mTen3/4 is kind of just cheating though when it comes to riding backwards haha - I can ride backwards forever on those wheels and it hasn't seemed to transfer over to other bigger wheels :(
Maybe one problem is that with these bigger and more expensive wheels.... you feel the need to "save it" instead of dropping it like you did when you first learned riding forwards.
🎉
I can’t ride backwards..I’m trying, maybe I need to practice more (I give up too quickly bec I can even travel 2 feet backwards
Today I learned you guys broke up and got back together or something?
WW has forgotten or he was just a talented rider. Took me about a month. If you are a ice skate / downhill skier that can go backward this will be very easy for you to learn.
So many of these influencers were great at another activities (skateboarding, MTB, Unicycling, etc) that allow them to become as great on a EUC.
I think he was just being humble to make me feel better about being so bad :P
Nice to see how Adam's a good teacher!
And Lukas is not that good prentice (just kidding)
forward ANDDDDD bak
why is your channel called eevees but contains no eevees
I definitely thought the two evee guys were a couple
I think what you are referring to as "pendulum" is more commonly known as "idling". At least that it what regular unicyclers call it (ua-cam.com/video/IplsYzTaJKE/v-deo.html).
It's not a Wrong Way video without a pole joke
Lucas is looking down, he should be standing straight and looking far far ahead.
