So Monte, your wife comes home from time with her cousins & wakes you up with the baby bottles, have you thought about getting that task done while she's gone, so when she arrives, she can just rest & not have to start into chores late at night? Side benefits: your wife will feel loved & you won't get woken up

Yeah well she doesn’t do them in the kitchen since we don’t have hot water there. She does them in a tub and a metal bowl. I can’t get down that low and still get back up. Since this last trip to the hospital it’s hard for me to stand up for very long

Good interview Monty, its good to see that youre looking better after your hospitalization. Welcome to the Philippines Joe. ive been married to a Filipina 13+ years. I loved the Philippines so much that i really didnt want to go back to the USA at all.

Another good video Monty. Your right bring good looking new condition 100's. You can start cashing one at the exchange at the airport. Cebu airport is on the way out after you get your bags. Credit cards are accepted just about anyplace. Just make sure you get a card that doesn't charge foreign transaction fee. A easy one to get and it does not have foreign transaction is the Discover card. Best way I found out getting money over is Money Gram app tied to my bank. Instant sending can pick up at any pawn or money place. Lots there. Be careful on bikes or renting vehicles. You are responsible if you hurt anyone. They can hold you there. Taxi, grab, are the best. Ferry and bus for long hauls. Last is travel insurance is cheap and worth it. Also met a guy got hit on his scooter going back to states. Not worth it. Take care Monty

I would like to know from you the following, please:
Is the Philippines a cash-oriented society in general or not?
I need to know from you whether or not debit / credit cards are widely used by people, and accepted by restaurants, shopping malls etc as a method of payment in general?
How much is the laundry service (wash, dry and press) in the Philippines per kilo?
In some cities laundry places are not easy to find...how about in the Philippines?
Enjoy the weekend and thank you!

Listening to the flight experience. I don’t know what is going on with the paranoid Americans. I mean, the security at airports is getting crazy! After my 2nd visit to Panama, I had a friend’s mom, 76, accompanying me back to Canada and we had a 2 hour wait for our connecting flight. So I just thought it would be enough time to get some lunch at the airport like in other countries. No idea how many lines people had to go through security. I got nervous. But standing in line, I was surprised to see that flight crew members had to line up too. So I asked one of the captains why they had to line up with passengers now. “New regulations…” And he asked me where we heading to. After I told him my flight and that we just had 40 minutes left to get to our gate, still 20-30 people in front of us, he just said: No worries. If we are still here, your flight isn’t going anywhere. I’m the pilot and that’s my crew. - We got 20 minutes late to the gate accompanied by the crew. I don’t know. Maybe I am getting old or it was really easier to travel in the old days. But I made myself a promise. I will never ever travel through the US on a connection flight. This is plain crazy! 2.5 hours until passengers can sit in a connection flight seat! And the stupid questions the security guards asking. “What brings you to the US?” - MY FLIGHT PLAN!! Grrrrrr. - Update: My ex-girlfriend I met in Canada is Filipina. So we did visit her place. If I could have, I had no problems to stay in the Philippines. But my girlfriend walked around with “horrible face” impression. She didn’t want to live in the Philippines! Anyway. What impressed me right away? Every person is smiling, happy and helpful. Not like grumpy Germans. Well I ended up in Panama. Different story….

    • @crewfamilyphilippines
      @crewfamilyphilippines  9 місяців тому

Good to know. I apologize that you had to go through that

@@crewfamilyphilippines Well. We travelers or normal people can’t do anything, except to deal with it. But honestly? I have to live with my disability since my accident. It would be easier to keep up with this travel issues when people are healthy. So with that said, since I tried from March 2020 until 2022 to return to my home in Edmonton, Alberta and I was blocked from the Canadian travel restrictions, I just sold everything - well - my Filipina ex-girlfriend (and you know how that is going if you can’t get there to see what money goes in & out ) - I didn’t travel outside of Panama at all. Here I have a girlfriend. She traveled many times to Colombia, what is only a 1 hour flight. I don’t have to go around all the time. My jobs kept me always on the roads and barely at home. Especially when I worked as a long haul trucker in North America. So I’m very happy just being at home. And the work on my house keeps me busy. After I get off construction, I honestly just like to relax, what gets my girlfriend crazy. But lifting a couple hundred pounds of material in the morning is wearing me out. After 1pm, I can’t stand the heat at my lot and do what Panamanian people do. Going home.

The bare minimum preparation is opening a WISE account in your home country but also ensuring your other cards aren’t geolocked. At NAIA change some money and set up your phone (let them do it) at the kiosk. That’s really all the important prep-phone and money.

I made 3 trips here before deciding to move here and when I got here I spent 7 months travelling to places to see what place suited me best. Also do your homework. There is lots of of good videos on UA-cam and good info online. I also talked to a lot of Filipino's that were working in Canada and got some good advice from them too.

With almost-free modern communications, the internet, and fast travel and a relatively standardized world when it comes to amenities like transportation and housing etc, relocating is not as hard and life-changing as it used to be prior to the availability of all the modern standardized ways of living. However, it's still a big change relative to what you're used to in your home country, but hopefully for the better.

Joe is in good hands. You are a simple home spun guy.
I love your home. Also, a leasehold improvement needs not always be a no no.
What people who advise against leasehold in the Philippines do not ever ask is how much are you going to put into the leasehold improvement.
If one can afford the potential loss of a leasehold do it. If one cannot afford the potential loss do not do it.
A foreign leasehold improvement in the Philippines is always a loss. But in such cases one can recoup the loss by calculating the pay back period vs renting.
Thanks for demonstrating an affordable leasehold improvement with a short pay back period.

Whether it's luck or good planning and research. I think Dumaguete (And the surrounding areas as a collective, Valencia, Bacong etc etc) is the BEST choice for an older retiree. I've been traveling throughout the Philippines since 2000'. Short vacations and long stays, and Duma iffers the best of all worlds. Manila and Cebu city are NOT safe at night and much much less safe overall from small provincial cities. Best wishes. Curtis, 50, retired Navy
