Overall I'd say this is a pretty poor book and I think that this was written by an AI.
This book would be better if it gave more named examples of what it is talking about. Even when it does give examples, a lot of them aren't discussed in much depth (for example the summary of the battle of Hydaspes is a bit strange and inaccurate, the description of the battle of Gaugamela as a "feigned retreat" is also inaccurate ). The use of language is also pretty strange like at 23:00 "invested in the outcome of the task or project", makes it sound like Alexander was working on a power point presentation or something. It feels like it uses a lot of business world talk and jargon as well and at times. It also has heavy usage of weasel words, for example at 31:15 "studies have shown that individuals that prioritise self-development are 10% more likely to achieve their goals". Which studies? In my opinion you should never say "studies have shown" as it doesn't give the listener any context. Honestly, listening to this had me rolling my eyes a lot of the time.
A lot of the conclusions made about Alexander are not true. For example what is said at 33:44. Did Alexander actually practice self-control and avoid indulgences? The general consensus among historians is actually that Alexander was fairly "hedonistic" and engaged in a lot of partying and boozing, some even say that is what caused his death. Most of these great conquerors were fairly "hedonistic" so I do not understand these puritanical historical revisionism. It feels like the author is pushing an agenda with this point and is being dishonest. The book is filled with these faulty conclusions.
Overall the book feels like it was written by someone with very rudimentary understanding of Alexander the Great (or an AI). I use Chatgpt fairly regularly, which is why I suspect that this book was written by an AI. There are a lot of AI books and articles floating around these days. It is filled with waffling and a lot of what is said has little relevance to the subject matter. The use of language is inappropriate and uninspiring. Overall I was excited to listen to this, as Alexanders mindset is not a topic that is explored a lot, however this book gives a fairly poor summary.
However, it still raises some interesting points, like how Alexanders upbringing and education helped forge his mindset.

If you know all this, why are you still where you are now? You must have become a walking historian.

@@AudioBooksOffice I am sorry if I upset you in any way, I merely intended to give feedback. I think some of the observations made about Alexander in this work are very interesting, such as the sections on his fearlessness, his upbringing and his attempt to assimilate cultures. However it does have quite a few inaccuracies. If you are the author I would recommend using this as a draft and rewriting it, as it has the potential to be a lot better with some work.
I am also not a historian by any means, I am just someone who is interested in Alexander The Great.

Agreed, it comes off as a highschool student essay, very simple with a lack of examples or love for the subject.
