QGIS Lesson 16 - Turning multipart polygons into single part polygons and calculating their area

  • Hi and welcome to the Lesson 16 in DMAD - Marine Mammals Research Association's second free QGIS course. This course if for beginners to intermediates. In this area we will take out single multipart polygon we created in the first lesson and split it into multiple smaller polygons. We'll then look at how we can calculate the area of each of these polygons.

    Firstly, thank you for another great video!
    Not sure why, but the layer of my potential survey area already had 23 features to begin with. Is that a good thing or did I do something wrong previously?

      Found the problem. Seems that when I clip using the Input layer as the elevation layer, those would be the features on the clipped layer. So now I made a new clip, with the Lakes_Rivers layer as input and it worked.

      Hi Marisa, this is fine its just to do with the editing of these features.
