I don't care who claims the game is dead. That notion is baseless, and the fanbase is living proof of that.

This game is the game i have kept playing for years. The stories are so good and even with the hate it gets sometimes it always gets back to its former glory

In the midst of a ton of "sea of thieves is dying" videos I find yours refreshing.
So glad you had a nice experience at SoT Fest. I have been playing this game a year, I have both PvP curses, I am level 50 in the Hunter's Call, and just the other day, I had a blast solo slooping to read some Glitterbeard journals around the seas and try to finish out those commendations. Things are never perfect with this game, but there is nothing like it, and I enjoy it immensely. It's obvious watching the podcasts that this development team really loves what they created here and they're committed to making it as good as possible, so I am not that worried. I have had the opportunity to watch this game get reshaped so much in the year I've been here, and those changes have been so amazingly good for this game, and I can't wait to see what they come up with next.
I think the solution is in your video. Communication. You got to talk directly to them. We don’t. The Developers have been so so so secretive for the “surprise” of new content in a trailer.., I think they need to drop the focus on secrets and surprising reveals and reassure the rest of us with the promise of content. And actual information.
I can't help but agree. It's a shame weekly dev updates stopped.
Its a thanks more so to the SOTFest organisers as much as it is for the time made available by the devs.
Doesn’t matter how good a game is, people will actively cheat to purposely ruin the experience for others. When I was in the development phase, black ops 4 zombies was at its peak with the chaos story line. Treyarch went the extra mile to bring the hardcore fans something truly special with Allstar casts to ever expanding Easter egg quests (many that haven’t been solved to this day). Everyone complained, and now everyone looks back saying just how great those maps were. Like Dead of the Night and Voyage of Despair. People need to realize what they have before it’s gone. Sadly, as said prior, there will always be the negative groups as Eric Maynard and I discussed in a podcast, and those who will follow those negative content creators off a cliff if they told them to. The issues in sea of thieves will be addressed, give it time, the game is still phenomenal. So many choices of what to do, no way you can get bored. If your servers are full of cheaters, use a vpn in another region. Thanks for all you do!
SoT Fest was a great experience, I’m definitely going back in 2024 if it stays local …… and those players & content creators are as passionate about SoT as they ever were.
Some negativity over the lack of Twitch Drops (obsidian items were a big pull) but some have been streaming SoT since launch when the game was barebones. The devs are as passionate as the players…….. most of them play the game when not designing it

It's hard to appreciate the game when I'm doing hourglass and in the middle of the fight the game freezes countinously for at least 10 sec and then all of a sudden I'm at the bottom of the sea...

Didn’t sadly make SOTF, maybe next year, but have to agree, this is my fave game and that ain’t going to change any time soon, I’ll always be positive, yes I’ve seen some of the negativity; experiences some of the issue, banged my head off the toxic wall because people can be just weird with what they do or say, but so looking forward to the content to come especially Monkey Island as it was one of my fave games back in the day, so looking forward to going back to Melee Island and checking out some of my old haunts now reimagined.

Any news about them developing an anti-cheat? Please tell me they're no longer going to waste time and money on limited content? This video is really filling me with hope.
It’s dying but it has a very strong fan base. I really wish the game got ACTUAL decent content updates more often tho. They act like there is so much to do all the time.
It's weird to see this guy so super hyped and overly positive, just because he met a few devs in person, and adding to the fact that the monkey island content will be tall tales split into one per month, meaning they are drip feeding smaller content over a 3 month span, which to me doesn't sound like a ton of content.

This game is my passion. I hate seeing all the complaints about little stuff that doesnt matter, the game is fantastic and amazing and truly unique
It's great to see that enthusiasm, a la SOTFest. That said, when we critique the game we love, we need to look at how we approach things. Vitriolic negativity is not helpful, it's just angry ranting. You're right, accountability is necessary. And likewise, we need answers to various issues. But, it should be about us helping to shape the game alongside the Devs, instead of just shouting. This video helped to bring a little hope and inspiration.
I live in Birmingham and sot is probably my favourite game though I had no idea this was going on :(

i feel like 2 world events could spawn at the same time, like 1 weak one and one strong one, like an fof and a skull fort, or ashen wind and the new phantom one.

I'm so sick of hearing "we see the problem". I don't care about that. I want to know WHEN it will be fixed. I want to know if the fix even within reach. Does the dev's have any idea how to solve cheating? I doubt that, because all I hear is "we see the problem" and "we do a great job at banning people who keep coming back 5 min later". I can't get much hope from these 2 statements.

In my experience, the community and players is overall great. It's just that the negativity stands out because they're the loudest. I've had far more good experiences than bad, yes there toxicity and cheaters but it's not as large a problem than people make it out to be.
Still isn't something that should be ignored though?.

Man, i just want arena back, sword nerfed, and quick swap back in the game
Arena was only played by 2% of the player base and it was a toxic ses pit. The sword takes 5 hits to kill (ie a balanced weapon). And quick swappping is an exploit that is being rightfully patched.

@@infinitypeaches3329 five if you use just normal strikes, three if you use one charged strike and two normal strike.

@@Srt_resium You're super lucky, because all I've come across is muted folks, sweatlords and cheaters/hackers. I've only since come across 2 nice lads in the past 2 weeks, the rest are filled with the former, so you're far, far luckier than me.

I feel like you've been bought in via emotional attachment, like we see this in the video where you talk about the devs for example, and I feel like that has now put you into a neutral and yet biased position where you don't really want to "appear" negative, but you'll point out your grumblings from the past and want to make it clear that you want to be more positive.
problem with that is that you are giving the devs more slack to just market more emporium content and the obvious drip feed of Monkey island tall tales, all while we still have problems with hour glass match making, Port Merrick still being horribly unoptimized, no real way to report cheaters/hackers and toxic folk in-game, and the game still being filled with hackers/cheaters.
I feel you owe it to yourself to remove the emotional bias you've now let attach to yourself and simply keep at it until the devs deliver and deliver in shorter time, instead to letting it all build up, while they focus more on marketing paid content.
Also, for people complain, what would you have them do?, not complain and be rainbows and sunshine, develop their own game and stop playing SoT?. Come on man, that's clearly bias working for you right now and even I can spot it.
Like for me personally, I'm fed up with the rampant cheating/hacking going on and the toxic sweats that I run into, and I've been asking Rare to allow for PVE servers for months now and still nothing and I do not feel like I'm being heard, despite me asking on their official forums, twitter and Steam forums. I'm not going to go all rainbows and sunshine, just because you, 1 out of 6 billion humans cited it as "unconstructive", like nah man, I want that fixed now, not fixed later and emporium content taking center stage nearly all the time, and having some youtuber tell me to step off, all because they got to meet some devs.
First time finding this channel and I'm already left with a toxic positivity impression. I want better for the game now, not 2-5 years later, and I'd like for more earnable content, not more content I need to fork money over for either. I know I'm much older than you, and I miss the days when we were able to earn more than what we originally paid for, and the focus on emporium content is high with this game.

Thats why clearly multiple videos have been posted about its decline with 95% of the comments agreeing to how braindead the devs are. this guy is only posting this shit to be rares good little boy, considering he’s practically owned by them

Stating ''You weren't there, so you wouldn't know otherwise''' is a poor take imho. The Venue was small.
People on twitter days prior to SoTFest even said that they will show up to SoTFest for the community/bought the tickets ages ago, despite not playing the game as much.
When content creators like BoxyFresh start playing other games on stream, PhuzzyBonds & HappyKraken saying they are not enjoying the game anymore and much more creators vibing the same sentiment. It's hard to side with you on this one saying the contrary.
I think the game is doing a good job in selling new people in playing their game, but spits out the ones that have been playing for ages.
Yeah that's why I don't get why he's being so utterly oblivious to what's going on.
When ppl are complaining about the issues with the game, the cheaters/hackers, hourglass still being borked and unbalanced, and other streamers moving onto other games, it makes this guy's "stop being negative" rather obnoxious and ignorant of what those complaining want, which is for the game to do and be better, not "half good", or good based on whatever this youtuber thinks is a metric for everyone else (because what he thinks is good isn't anywhere good enough for me, and he has no real right to denounce my own metric, just because he posts some videos and met some devs).
I feel like what he is doing right now via this video is admitting he is being toxic positive, in that he's negating all complaints and being overly positive, which leads to less being done or addressed, because "complaining isn't constructive", and yet what he is doing is exactly why devs do not learn or want to do better, because they have youtubers and ppl like this guy just stanning for them all the way (while using defensive arguments like "I was like you guys before!, I was down on my luck too!")

The game is absolutely not dying - only a FOOL (or AShittyRay that is always 'so concerned' all the time) believes in the contrary. This game has so much potential and talented developers... just insane. This player base is just so impatient and annoying, to be honest.
